Had a wonderful meal at this recently renovated pub / restaurant in August 2014. We were late arriving (close to 9pm) but the welcome and friendly staff accommodated us without hesitation. Meals were home cooked and delicious, as well as being excellent value for money. Well recommended!

Me and a friend visited on a Tuesday evening, we had a table booked just to be sure that we could eat as it is a busy place since it has reopened! The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had the food soon after we had ordered and it tasted excellent and was well presented! The restuarant area where we were sat was full so there was a great atmosphere! We would certainly visit this place again!

I went there with my husband for a birthday treat - and a treat it really was! When we first arrived, we sat at the bar with our drinks waiting to be seated (which we were within 10 minutes). For starters we both opted for the garlic mushrooms. Usually when you have creamy garlic mushroom they come in a bowl loaded with a garlic cream sauce. These were so much lighter - the sauce soaked into the toasted bread with the mushrooms on top. They were probably the best garlic mushrooms that I've had. For the mains, I opted for the Rainbow trout (on the specials board) with new potatoes and veg. It was cooked to perfection - (I peeled the whole skeleton away in one go with ease) It was delicious. My husband has the T bone steak (which he also really enjoyed) with chips and the various steak trimmings that comes with it. He was very impressed with the chips as they were proper home made chips! Unfortunately we were too full to try any of the extensive desserts on offer.
The atmosphere was good - there was enough background noise filtering in from the bar whilst being away from it.
I would definitely visit again - very enjoyable evening!

Journey stop on route to Snowdonia, nothing much happening on Friday evening at this country inn, nobody drinking in the bar - but a few people eating, it has been decorated so it looked nice inside, in fairness the food was ok enough but it was fairly basic (very limited choice), overly fussy presentation but lacking on the content - one dish was served late (missing off order). So all in all a bit shabby.

Overall a pretty poor Sunday lunch here this weekend, cheap enough but it showed in the food, over cooked beef, limp vegetables. Service was slow even though it was only moderately busy. Left feeling disappointed.
