Before the show started, i was expecting to watch a lot of dances. However, as the show went on, i only saw one dance and the actors are acting most of the time. If you like watching plays, it is worth a visit. You can skip this place if you have little time in bali.

Like other reviewers say, not really a dance.
I wouldn't recommend it. Takes too much time to watch the play. It's just not worth it if you have a limited time in Bali

Enjoyable, very traditional, a little hard for kids to follow. I thought the kids might say 'that was boring', but they seemed to enjoy the spectacle of the costumes, the mild humour and different style of dance to anything they'd seen before. A bit of local tradition and culture good for all.

Watched this dance at Batubulan.
This is a traditional cultural dance in Bali.
You have to understand the storyline well first before watching the dance, or else you will feel very lost.
They provide the synopsis of the story at the entrance in many languages.
I am not sure about the other languages, but the English synopsis was badly written and difficult to understand, so it is better to Google for the storyline before going there.
The dance was average in my opinion.

The barong dancing is actually an imitation of the real Barong dance which is used to scare off evil spirits from villages. Its been adapted so as to not disrespect the dance but to still provide entertainment. Its got some interesting characters and scenes in it, I was worried my 2 younger ones (aged 3 and 1) might find it scary but they didn't and proceeded to join in the dancing. There were one too many 'mens private parts' jokes for our liking but the Indonesians found this hilarious. The cost was about 30 dollars Australian to see it. Get used to the music, you hear it everywhere in Bali!
