My family stayed at the Marina Hotel for a few days for the New Year weekend, all of us occupied 7 rooms and were very impressed, the rooms are spotless and very pleasant. We had the Marina view and a balcony. We all felt comfortable and the service was excellent. One afternoon they prepared a fun activity for the family and we really enjoyed ourselves.
Our meals were memorable, everything on the menu is simply delicious. We highly recommend the Marina Hotel and Restaurant.

We are staying at the Shelter Bay Marina and so cannot comment on the Hotel but as far as the restaurant... for the Holidays and are having a wonderful time with all the good food and events planned by Chris: December 21 end of the Mayan calendar meal special with live music by the Shelter Belters and 12 days of Christmas singing contest, Christmas Eve caroling with potato and chili bar, Christmas Day pig roast (250 lb pig with two turkeys stuffed inside) including fun and games around the pool (watermelon wrestling, water balloon catching, etc. New Year's ...

We stayed at Shelter Bay Marina Hotel for a few weeks in November and December while completing some work on our boat. Convenience to our boat was great. The rooms were very nice with cable tv, ac and daily room service. Many of the rooms had a balcony and view of the marina and the Panama Canal. It was still rainy season so at times power was a problem at the dock but the restaurant and hotel have a generator so no interruption of electricity inside.
Chris, the hotel/restaurant manager, went out of his way to make sure we had everything we need during our stay. We really appreciate all of the attention to detail and his willingness to help out wherever he could. The restaurant is really nice too. Good menu at reasonable prices.

Thank you Chris for making our stay with you so wonderful. You are a delightful host and you run a tight and professional operation. Your above and beyond response to our needs during the tail end of the monsoon season with all the challenges of heavy rain and power interuptions was very much appreicated. You and your staff ROCK!!

Wow, was I ever surprised, and delighted, to see the changes at Shelter Bay Marina. The change is so drastic it felt like I was still in the States. They've got Keith handling the boatyard, and Chris performing fabulously on the restaurant/hotel side. The food is fabulous. We were there long enough to try just about everything on the dinner menu and I gotta say, job well done everyone! From hiring cabs to getting us in to Portobello to see the Black Christ Festival, Chris arranged everything for us. Thanks Chris! Thanks Keith, for putting in that microwave for us :)

The Dock restaurant is located overlooking the Shelter Bay Marina in the former US Army Fort Sherman, Colon Panama. The facility is a short trip to the historic Spanish Fort San Lorenzo. Much of the restaurants patrons come from the near-by yachts, so the dress is casual. The food in this restaurant is wonderful and varied. Chef/Manager Chris makes you feel like family!

I'm a US expat working in the Colon for the past 8 years- so I know the area and quite familiar with all the restaurant options. Aside from all fondas, local and hotel restaurants - you start to see a lot of the same thing. When you desire a little taste of home this is the place to come.

Initially the restaurant at Shelter Bay was my local favorite when I wanted USA-like food. However, about 4 years ago they changed providers and the food went downhill. The Ice tea went to the same heavy syrup crap you can find throughout all of Panama. The food was bland, hamburger barely editable... just terrible.

Six months ago, I ventured back and was pleasantly surprised. Shelter bay brought on a chef from Kansas City - and what a difference it's made! The menu has been changed and the food is fantastic, with REAL Ice Tea and Heinz Ketchup for the burgers!

I highly recommend this restaurant when you want a change from the regular local establishments. Nice stop on the way to San Lorenzo and a great place to have lunch or dinner, overlooking the marina!
