Its a nice resort, but adventurous to reach this place.. there is no sign boards enroute to this resort.. good for 1 night and 2 days stay.. if you are a veggy... it is tough to survive... this opinion has come from many travellers but I think there is no effort to enhance their menu ... specifically for veggy...
you may have to be prepared for mosquitos .. but we cant blame the resort.. there is no TV... but there is a small cute open library ... you can walk for 5 min to reach the beach... you can hardly see ppl around in the beach... but one way you will enjoy the privacy :-)

overall..this place is for those who want to literally relax... (away from usual stressful lifestyle)

@Les3Elephants.. plz.. work on the menu ... this suggestion is more than a year old from many visitors.. its high time you update your menu ...

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review Les 3 Elephants. We are happy that you enjoyed a relaxing stay with us, and the almost desert beach.

About our menu, we are in fact trying to improve our offer for vegetarians. We have added a variety of dosas for lunch, and our dinner menu includes mostly veg starters and a choice of veg curries. However, it is true that, on the one hand, French cooking is mostly non-veg, and on the other hand, being situated in a fishermen village, close to a busy fishing harbor, we propose a variety of fresh sea food local dishes. This being said, I have heard your comment, and we'll try to do even better in order to satisfy everyone.

Hope you visit us again,

Best regards,

Benjamin

recommended for couples
avoid if coming with kids
rooms are too bare, could do with sitting area esp. considering mosquitoes in evening

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your positive review, we hope to see you again.

We understand that our fusion food (indian/mediterranean) menu and minimalistic style of design can not entirely please everyone. Kids are welcome in our resort, but it is correct that the peacefulness and relaxing atmosphere is a priority for us, and thus we don't provide club type entertainment program. Games, drawing set and children books are yet available for our youngest guests.

Glad you enjoyed staying with us,

Best regards,

Benjamin Covo

Les Trois Elephants is a lovely hotel. A group of eight thatched bungalows, just two of which have air conditioning, it is simple, secluded and friendly. Set in a small village on the edge of a stunning lake which is punctuated by Kochi's famous Chinese fishing nets and fringed by coconut palms, it serves super food. Two minutes walk from Cherai beach, at the quiet end of the 'strip', don't go if you're looking for five star luxury and wall to wall bars, as you will not find them here. But if your idea of pleasure is waking to the sound of birdsong and taking a dip in the sea followed by an ayurvedic meassage, Les Trois Elephants will not disappoint.

Room Tip: AC overlooking the lake.

Dear Ollie,

Thank you for taking the time to write this very positive review. We are happy that you enjoyed so much the specific pleasures of our eco-resort and the lovely, still mostly pristine, Cherai beach. We hope to see you again.

Dear Lisa,

Thank you very much for your kind review. As you stayed in October, this is the end of the second rainy season in Kerala, so probably a little more mosquitoes than usual, mostly at sunset. We advise our guests to go and enjoy the sunset on the beach between 6:30 and 7:30 as this is the bad time for mosquitoes in the resort, and they don't like the salty wind on the beach.

I ll convey your compliments to the staff and the kitchen, and hope to see you again soon.

Best regards,

Benjamin

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of a cycling trip around Kerala, and really enjoyed our stay. We would recommend that others stay here - it certainly seems to be a step up from the other small hotels in the area.

The good bits:
- Pleasant, relaxed atmosphere.
- Nice rooms / cottages. Ours had an especially good location right on the backwater.
- Friendly, helpful staff.
- Quiet, unspoiled, picturesque area. The friendly villagers appear to enjoy having tourists exploring their area.
- Easy to arrange day trips to Cochin, take the little ferry (canoe for 1 rupee!) across the lake etc.
- A few other local restaurants to try.
- Excellent breakfasts.

Could be improved:
- Lacks comfortable seating. The wicker chairs look good, but not great to sit in all day with a book (which is probably what you go for). A few hammocks or similar would be good.
- Similarly in the restaurant - nothing to lean back on.
- Our shower didn't drain properly and didn't get unblocked despite asking.
- Restaurant meals were well presented euro-indian "fusion", but a bit bland compared to the local dishes that we had enjoyed elsewhere in Kerala. It would be good to have at least one authentic keralan dish on the menu. A liquor license would also be a good addition - but realise that this may be difficult in Kerala.
- We left with food poisoning: it's not certain that this originated at 3 Elephants but we hadn't eaten anywhere else in the previous 24 hours.

Room Tip: Room 11 is situated right on the backwater and is very private. The only down side is that the bathr...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review Les 3 Elephants, we always value constructive feedback. As there is no point commenting the positive aspects of your review, allow me to answer your advices for improvment.

I am a little surprised that you found our lounge chairs uncomfortable, as we usually get the opposite reaction from our guests. Maybe you did not notice that these chairs are adjustable, we should probably have shown you how to adjust the leaning position. As far as the restaurant is concerned, plenty of available cushins are sufficient for most guests to lean back on our traditionnal keralite seating arrangement. We actually plan to set up hammocks in the cottages back gardens, but as perfectionnists we are still looking for the perfect hammocks (plain white and wheather resistant are incredibly difficult to find around here).

The drainage of your shower was certainly easy to fix, and should have been adressed with no delay. I have already informed my team about this mistake and asked them to pay more attention.

Our curries are all cooked on order. According to the guest's desire they can be prepared from no chilly at all, to very spicy. Once again, this information hasn't probably been clearly enough given to you. Concerning the food poisonning, this is the first time ever that we receive such a complain. We change our menu daily to guarantee the freshness of our products. On this matter, we can not be more carefull than we are already. As sorry as I am for your inconvenience, I have to suspect that you had maybe some drinks outside of the resort (never accept ice in your juice if your are not sure that it is made out of purified water)

If you make us the pleasure of visiting again, I hope that our constant efforts to improve our services will offer you an even better experience.

Cordially yours,

Benjamin Covo

In my opinion what makes a difference in this hotel is how good the staff is. The guy at the reception, Dilu ( probably I misspelled it) was excellent with us. He recommended places to see and helped us arrange everything. And also the rest of the staff! They even taught us how to play an Indian board game! The rooms are nice and the food excellent. It's excellent to have views from the room directly to the backwaters .very relaxing experience.

Hope you visit again,

My fiancé Becky and I, stayed here for three nights about a week ago..loved the place. Very charming cottages / rooms. We were told that all the cottages had a unique design, we stayed in two differently priced rooms and both were lovely experiences.

The only irritant (which is understandably beyond the control of the management) were the ginormous Cochin mosquitoes which attacked us every day at 630 pm and disappeared around 7-730 ;)

The resort is flanked on one side by the back waters, and by the ocean on the other..about 2-300 meters away. The Munambam fishing point is about 2 Kim's from the resort and is a hot spot for local anklers who crave for a good fight with the variety of fish in the ocean (Salmons, Mangrove Jacks, Crabs, Sharks...and many more).

The staff were warm and friendly and we had very interesting food offerings at the restaurant. Try out the Banana Fritters with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce for dessert..it was mind blowing for us foodies.

Marjorie, it was a pleasure to have met you and stayed at your lovely resort. We have never engaged with the owners at any hotel or resort we have stayed at like we did at yours! Thanks for a lovely dinner time conversation and all the care and hospitality extended by you and team. It is much appreciated. We felt like we were amongst friends :)
We will surely come back and say hi.

Cheers
Becky and Jeevan
