“Transformative”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2013

Yes, it was very nice -- great location, attentive staff, pretty room, spacious bath -- but I couldn't believe none of the reviews had mentioned the commotion from the street below! How would I ever sleep? (I'm the sort who carries two sets of earplugs.) And yet, it all seemed to melt away. The view was so amazing from our room (#4), that I came to relish the open windows and sounds of life, especially the clip-clop and bells of the horse-drawn carriages. It was thankfully much calmer in the evening and morning, and during the day, I felt so lucky that I had stretched before me, the view others were clamoring for. Ronda was where I left the old me behind and embraced the beauty Spain. It takes a special place to allow that sort of transformation. And that was at the Hotel El Poeta. Book it!

We have just returned from a 4 week tour of Spain. Although all of our experiences were great nothing can compare with our time in Ronda. It is such a beautiful place. The hotel is lovely (although our windows faced the street and it was a little noisy)and convenient to everything. . The staff was marvelous!! They couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. And if they happen to read this... the Minottis from Cape Cod say" Hola."

Room Tip: We were in room 10 and it faced the street. The views were terrific but it was a little noisy in the...

My daughter & I traveled to Ronda by car in October and stayed just one night here, but it was memorable. Room was great & location couldn't have been better! Staff went out of their way to help us with directions to the Cueva de la Pileta outside of town which was a really interesting cave with paleolithic drawings---one of the few open to the public in southern Europe. We also attended a concert by Celia Morales, Flamenco guitarist which was excellent & listed as the number one thing to do in Ronda by Trip Advisor.
Hotel is easy to find & drive to & they gave excellent directions to parking in an underground garage nearby. Highly recommend!!

Our stay at El Poeta was a part of our holiday with the wonderful "Walking Andalucia" company. We were booked in for a three night stay and right away, on meeting the staff, were made to feel like royalty. We were given a coffee "on the house" whilst we were checked in, and then taken to our up-graded room. The room was huge, the decor was magnificent, with complementary slippers and dressing gowns waiting for us when we emerged from the impressive bathroom. I just don't get such luxury in the hotels I frequent in the UK ( although I did miss the coffee-making facilities you get back home). We enjoyed the small bar in the evenings and the company we found there, both the other guests and the charming night-staff. We enjoyed the breakfast, although a large portion of cheese and Spanish Ham to begin with, followed by a large plate of mixed fruit is somewhat alien to most British tastes, especially following a convivial visit to the bar the previous night!
All in all, staying at El Poeta was a wonderful experience to complement a visit to one of the most atmospheric towns in Andalucia. When we left, the staff made us feel like we were old friends saying goodbye. I hope we will return one day!

The hotel is in a very good location, right in the older part of Ronda and a mere 100 meters or so from the new bridge with stunning views of the gorge. We had Room 3 which was large, very tastefully decorated and clean. It has a good view of the terrace of the bar and the main street leading to the new bridge. Breakfast was adequate

What made the hotel special were the staff. All the staff we met from the time we checked in to the time we checked out spoke good English and were very eager to help to ensure that we had a good stay in Ronda. To illustrate how thoughtful and service oriented they were, we were even given 2 bottles of cold drinks to take away when we checked out.

Well done.

Room Tip: Room 3 was good

A wonderful place to stay in Ronda. Beautifully appointed and LARGE room (we had a superior room but our other regular room for our travel companion was also large and comfy), tastefully decorated, lovely view out the window, clean and crisp.

Our host was charming and sweet, although we did not see him after check-in, it was his day off. The location is amazing, truly a stone's throw from the "new bridge" and a short walk to the historical center.

Only downside was breakfast - quite poor actually. Although it was served in a gorgeous dining room, there was no choice. We were served one roll, some tomato spread, oil, a few slices of cheese and ham. Orange juice was offered as was coffee. On our second day we were also offered a croissant with chocolate sauce and fruit which looks amazing but is also actually quite bad. All the above does not detract me from giving it an Excellent Rating, I would just skip the breakfast next time and get a reduced rate.

The first words out of our host's mouth were about making the hotel our home away from home...and it was!! Our rooms were beautifully appointed and spacious, the location was right in the center of the historic area and the service was fantastic! The hotel is a gem...a fantastic value. The hotel is small and exudes comfort, privacy and beauty. This is a hotel not to be missed if staying in Ronda!
