“A very pleasant and welcoming hotel”
Reviewed 5 August 2013

Having booked two rooms for one night in the hotel Alavera de los banos with our kids, we spent one wonderful Evening and night in this hotel. This hotel is located close from Los banos in Ronda a little outside from the area of main attractions of Ronda.

Rooms are furnished with old local elements which makes you feel in the real Andalusia.

The small swimming pool was charming and with a wonderful view over the landscape.
Breakfast was fresh and perfectly sized.

The only negative aspect is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms in a region where it can be extremely hot night and day.

The hotel is nicely situated out the main buzz of town. There is a beautiful garden and pool, small areas to sit and relax with great views over golden fields and horses. The local restaurant was very useful for a quick paella and beer ! The rooms are adequate and clean with a good shower, all very nicely decorated. The communal areas are well decorated, Moroccan possibly in style, Breakfast was served outside and was a great display of fresh fruit , coffee and cheeses....all staff were very helpful and we had a comfortable and most enjoyable stay....cycling out daily for superb rides.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the gardens are quieter as the cobbles outside make a noise with the odd car passing. T...

This B&B provides a good value in Ronda in the old part of town near the Moorish Baths. It is not in the center of the touristy part. Ronda is very hilly, and from this hotel the walk is decidedly uphill to the famous "new bridge."

The main public room is charming and beautifully appointed and decorated. There are lovely gardens with great views to the surrounding country side. There is a pool. The owners are the hosts and they are very friendly and considerate. Lunch is available. The breakfast was European style and very good. The wifi was good.

Parking is easy and free right out front.

The rooms are small by some standards, as are the baths. The bed was a double, not a queen. That did not bother us at all.

The only problem is that we visited in July and there is no air-conditioning. It cools off at night, so we thought this would be no problem. But it was. The problem is that even with the two windows wide open it was hot in the room when we went to sleep. Worse, dogs barked until around 3:00 am. So it was either suffocate in heat or lie awake listening to dogs.

This lovely hotel is situated outside the hustle and bustle of beautiful Ronda, in a very old part of the town. The main areas of the the town are accessible very quickly by climbing the nearby pathway - short but steep - into town itself. The advantage of being outside the main areas is that it is quiet and also very easy to get to, without having to negotiate the busy streets of the town.
It is approached over a very old bridge that was in fact the main route into the Moorish town, and the remains of the town baths are next door - and very well worth a visit.
The hotel decor is beautiful with a distinctly Moroccan theme, and a main lounge leading into extremely well thought out patio and garden areas, complete with small plunge /swimming pool.
Our room was a garden terrace, one of two rooms with their own patio / sitting area. The room was a good size - however there is one potential drawback - there is no airconditioning. We stayed in early July, and the room fan was pleasant and more than adequate at keeping us cool, but I'm not sure how effective it would be in, say, August.
The owner and his partner were delightful - helpful and extremely attentive. There is a small bar, and snacks are available until 15.30, but there is no restaurant (though there are many in town, and a reasonable one just a few yards up the road, where we ate a very acceptable meal.)
After 8.30 pm, the 'bar' in the hotel is run on an 'honesty' principle - you simply help yourself and sign a chit!
Would definitely be our first choice should we visit Ronda again.

Room Tip: Garden terrace room - off the road (which is actually very quiet anyway)

Everything was great! The room is not so big, but very comfortable with nice view. The breakfast is not buffet, but delicious. The owner couple are very friendly, who recommend the rest. was amazing. Ronda is charming, because of Alavera de los Banos, it becomes over charming.

Room Tip: A room with terrace makes your staying more comfortable.

My wife prefers B&B's, I prefer boutique luxury hotels... this well appointed and lovingly maintained inn made us both very happy! Situated just a few flights of historic steps down from the original gate to the historic and charming city of Ronda, we loved the idyllic setting overlooking productive agricultural hills with beautiful horses just down the hill from the pool. The staff (including the owners) were eager to please but maintained a perfect "distance" so that if you wanted to just lounge and relax you didn't feel like they were hovering.

Breakfast was amazing and we loved the limited "room service" offerings... sandwiches, olives and cold beer by the pool! Interested in seeing the countryside? Go on horseback! Staff scheduled this for us and we couldn't have been happier with the half-day trip.

Coming on the heels of Barcelona and Madrid, we were ready to slow things down and Hotel Alavera de los Banos is the perfect place for a restful interlude whilst exploring Andelucia. Refuse to pay hotel laundry prices? In Madrid, they wanted to charge us 4 euros to wash a t-shirt! So, we were pleasantly surprised that the hotel has contracted with a local laundry that washed and folded by weight, for a more than reasonable price .

Room Tip: Our room was on the ground floor with a great patio facing the pool area... very private and nice fr...

What a hidden treasure. Shhhh! Don't tell anybody! We want rooms to be available when we return in 2014 and 2015 and...
We were enchanted by this lovely little oasis of calm below hectic Ronda. So much so that we canceled a reservation in Cordoba, paying 68 Euro penalty but it was worth it because this place was such a calming place to rest after a long drive. Excellent service. Wonderful sandwiches for a lite lunch in the garden. My wife spent one entire afternoon reading in the garden. Rooms are small and bathrooms too but you don't come to Spain to sit in your room. Public spaces are generous and lovely. Perfect free Internet. Gracious hosts speak multiple languages.
