Hotel made us feel at home. Miriam fluent in three languages including English. That made transactions and asking directions so much easier.
Breakfasts are equisite. Fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, selection of meats, bread and fresh made jam, sweet bread. This breakfast on a lovely garden veranda with hills in the background was so relaxing. The rooms, while not large, had a nice wardrobe to keep clothes and suitcases. The rooms are relaxing and the common room is open with free wifi and interesting paintings and wall hangings.
There is a steep hike up to the main roads of town but Ronda is all about the gorge and experiencing it. While in Ronda eat at one of the restaurants overlooking the gorge. Also hike down to the valley and get the view of the new bridge from a different angle than most tourists.

Room Tip: We didn't have a terrace but overlooked the horse corrals, breakfast area, and hills. Our room w...

We recently stayed here for four days and loved every second.
We had a suite with a terrace, (which I recommend), it had the best bed I have ever slept in and WiFi everywhere.
The view was epic, over horses and mountains, with breakfasts watching the sun rise.
The pool & lounging area is small, but ample for the hotel sizer and is rarely busy. it's perfect for the much needed dip and cool down.
The only are that could have been more varied, was breakfast - which was the same fruit / cheeses / jams / bread medley, every day. But this was still good!
The owners and hosts are friendly and helpful, it is in a great spot, just off the beaten the track, but this also means a climb up to the main town and tourist area - just some steps, mind, but a climb non the less.
Ronda itself is great, and this is the perfect base.

Room Tip: Email in advance to get a room with a terrace on the ground floor.

Hi - we loved the hotel, but the room we were given had been recently renovated and for some reason it was full of little black flies and ants in the shower. When we asked if we could move room on our last night the woman on reception was a little disbelieving and rude. It was not until we showed one of the other members of staff that we were moved. The guy we met on reception when we first arrived was very good and apologetic (at least he apologised), but not all staff seemed to have the same level of customer service. We did feel that we could have been offered a gesture of good will, maybe a bottle of wine on the house? or lunch? Espescially as in addition to the room problem one night we had cold water only (cold showers!), another night of no electricity and one morning with no water!

We stayed for 5 nights and thought that the breakfast could have been varied - it was exactly the same every morning and the coffee wasn't that great, which is a shame given Spanish coffee is usually great.

Room Tip: There was no restaurant, so we were a little disappointed. No air con.

Thank you for your positive review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us despite the minor inconveniences you described. The problem with the flies was only temporary and we have corrected it.
However, we want to take a position regarding our alleged negative response to your complaint. We immediately respond to your complaint, and reject the blame on poor response sharply. It would never occur to us to treat a guest complaint in such a bad manner. Our staff is trimmed in a polite and courteous treatment with our guests.
In regards of our breakfast: The breakfast has been highly praised by all guests. Please read the reviews of other guests with respect to the breakfast. We can therefore not take this complaint seriously.
As for the good will we have you significantly reduced the room rate for the last night.

We hope to welcome you in Alavera de los Baños in the future. This time without the inconvenience described.

i have never reviewed a hotel before, but alavera is so exceptional! great opportunity here for peace, with the highest level of service i have experienced anywhere. nothing pretentious here. everything is real and beautiful and calming and relaxing. every detail is carefully attended to, but not in a way that feels 'precious'. you can read the details of the property in any tour guide (as everyone loves it here) so i won't repeat these. this property is first-class in every sense of the word!

We had been travelling for several weeks with a car in Spain and did not want to stay in another "old town" area where the parking was so impacted.
Alavera de los Banos was a perfect choice. It is located outside the city but very close walking distance up several stairs. We did not find the stairs to be a problem and there was free parking right in front of the hotel.
The beauty of this hotel is the garden area so try and book one of the 2 patio rooms on the first floor.
Make sure you go when the weather is nice so you can enjoy a lovely breakfast on the patio and a swim in the afternoon.

Lovely house nested in trees just next door from the Arab Baths and steps away from the old town. Beautifully decorated, amazing breakfast on the terrace facing the views, swimming pool. Charming and helpful hosts , a gem.
