“Wonderful rooms. Stunning gardens. Warmest welcome. Fabulous food.”

This is a very good hotel indeed. We've been twice now and we'll go back again - and returning to hotels isn't something we usually do. The people that run it are extremely nice - they say they'll do anything to help, and they really mean it. Example: having bought a very expensive pair of shoes in Seville, a two hour drive away, we got to La Fuente and realised that both shoes were for the left foot! They were straight on the phone and persuaded the shoe shop to send a courier with the right shoe, at no extra cost. This open, helpful, relaxed attitude is mirrored in other ways; the kitchen is always open and you can walk in at any time and see what's cooking. If you want something off-menu, or want to order food at a time that's neither lunch nor dinner, that's no problem. If you need to leave early, before they start serving breakfast, well they'll just serve breakfast earlier. There's an honesty bar with drinks and ice creams. The whole place feels relaxed, calm and truly welcoming.

The rooms are simple and beautiful; four poster beds, fabulous linen, high ceilings, beautiful light. Some also have stunning views and private terraces. The gardens smell and look fantastic - especially the lavender all round the swimming pool. The food at breakfast and lunch is simple, varied and delicious. They make much use of the produce from their own, very impressive, organic vegetable garden. At dinner, the food ranges from good to completely exquisite. We went shortly after one of us had visited Gordon Ramsay's much heralded restaurant in Chelsea, and at least two of La Fuente's dishes - a tuna tartare flavoured with coriander and a salad of fried banana, jamon iberico and peanut - would not have been out of place in a restaurant of that class.

Highly, highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed at the Fuente de la Higuera for three nights in April, and it was definitely the highlight of our trip to Andalucia. From the moment we arrived, we were met with warmth and generous hospitality. Tina, Pom, and the entire staff were superb. Each and every staff member we passed greeted us warmly and made us feel like we were at home.

We were upgraded to a suite on the second floor (#10), which was beautiful, inside and out. The suite was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom was very large. The view from our private terrace (which had two lounge chairs as well as a bistro table/chair set) was breathtaking. We had a fireplace, which we used one night, but for some reason, the smell of the wood was unpleasant, so we ended up airing out the place and did not use it again.

We dined in at the hotel a couple of nights and were quite pleased with the quality of the food. We ordered everything on the menu and loved it all! Pom would come by and chat with his guests at each table and make sure everything was satisfactory (effortlessly switching languages with each table). On our second night of dining there, the food was equally fresh, though we were hoping for more variety in dessert choices.

Breakfast was included, and on our last morning, when we finally woke up in time for breakfast, we were sorry we had missed it for the past two days. The bread, jams, cold cuts, fruit, and fresh squeezed OJ were delicious and were made even better by the view over the valley. Everything we ate and drank during our stay was very fresh. When my husband requested mint tea one afternoon, he was asked if he'd like to pick his own mint leaves!

It is so peaceful at the hotel that often, we didn't want to leave to explore the surrounding area. If not for the lack of cheap eats at the hotel (a sandwich cost about 9 Euros), we just may have stayed in and lounged by the pool all day. It was the perfect base from which to explore Ronda and the surrounding towns, and at the end of each day of exploring, we looked forward to returning and taking in the tranquility and calm of the place.

I would wholeheartedly recommend the Fuente de la Higuera for anyone looking for a tranquil, serene base for exploring the Ronda area. The rooms, service, and food are all top-notch.

An amazing boutique hotel. nothing too much trouble. delightful owners, fabulous food and setting. Rooms traditional spanish with a modern and uncluttered twist. Gardens lovely, pool a delight set in natural gardens surrounded by lavender bushes. Massages available. Well positioned for sightseeing the white villages of andulacia.

We stayed at Hotel La Fuente for three nights last week and had an amazing time. Pom, Tina and Frank and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming and the rooms, pool, terrace and location are just perfect. The rooms were beautifully decortaed. The food was some of the best we had in Spain, with the menu changing every evening, and the atmosphere just wonderful. The pool and garden were great for snoozing, reading and having a swim. I think I had the pool to myself almost every time. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

This is a charming boutique hotel with a colonial touch, made for couples who like a romantic, relaxed place.
We had suite Nr. 11 with a bedroom, separate living room, huge bathroom and a terrasse overlooking the valley. The Terrasse had good privacy, sun loungers, table with chairs and sun shades. The only problem were the incredible big ants on the terrasse (lots of them) so we hardly used the terrasse. The room itself had a colonial touch with some antiques, not really luxury style but comfortable. Suite Nr. 10 has a bigger terrasse but not total privacy, suite nr. 9 is on the ground floor with a bit less attractive view and less airy. Room nr. 3,4, 6 have views on a hill, but still a nice terrasse. If a good view is important for you, don't book this rooms. Room nr. 5 (junior suite) comes with a balcony overlooking the valley and the pool. I think, this is the best price/value option.
We had several times lunch on the terrasse which is good and reasonable priced. We also ate dinner at the hotel 3 times and we loved it. The menu changes daily and they always have several options, also for vegetarians. The vegetable comes mainly from their own garden. They have a good wine selection with some real bargains. I can recommend eating at the hotel. Dinner on the terrasse is very romantic with the lights around the pool and the calm sourrounding. The owners have always time for a little talk and suggestions for trips, restaurants and shops.
A good idea is the honesty bar with drinks, ice cream and more. You can take what you want and leave a note what you had.

The pool has enough comfy sun loungers, sometimes the missing shade was a bit a problem. There are some trees for shade but not for all guests. The grounds are well kept but it is not a manicured garden with lots of flowers.
We loved the hotel for its charme, the friendly owners and staff and the good location close to Ronda and the white villages. It was not as luxury and beautiful grounds as it was at hacienda San Rafael, but full of character and relaxing atmosphere.

this place was very impressive. makes for a great base for exploring the pueblos blancos and ronda. really a great boutique hotel. probably the best part of the hotel is the food. they have an amazing chef that cooked us up just one amazing and creative meal after the other. I would highly recommend this place. The only complaint i can think of is that there is no air conditioning, so consider yourself warned.

we stayed 4 nights here and used it as our base for touring andalucia. We struggled every day with leaving it behind as we got into our car to venture into the coutnryside! - didnt want to leave the beautiful gardens and pool. nice atmosphere throughout - mostly couples which suited us fine with a few families thrown in - the breakfast and lunch menus were really good but we felt that there was not enough variety in the evening meal - we often ate in Ronda and returned to enjoy a cheese board and a bottle of wine later in the evening - this worked best for us... the staff were all really good and our room (suite) was really luxurious. we were a little anxious about the fact that they have no air conditioning, but it wasnt too bad - (would have preferred it though).
all in all a really nice place to stay - will defintely return in the future.
