“Love to stay longer”
Reviewed 6 May 2013

We only stayed here for one night on our cycling holiday but it was beautiful. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful, and it was such a lovely peaceful location with beautiful gardens and so many different outdoor areas to relax. The room was very comfortable and breakfast was very good. If we ever come to Spain again we would certainly love to spend more time here.

but we have too. Eli and Pablo are perfect hosts at a near perfect location for country and nature lovers. We have returned five times to this rural oasis, set in the hills near Ronda on the climb to Montejaque. in the spring the area is filled with wild flowers and singing birds. Pablo provides scrumptious food based on traditional local recipes. The old farm has been restored to provide a tranquil pool area with a number of patio areas to relax with the all day teas and coffee. the lounge is a delight for evening conversation or the is a TV area with international stations. Eli will povide information on local areas and walks, and has good contacts if guides are required.

It’s difficult not just to reiterate what other reviewers have already noted. In brief a wonderful place to stay in the Pueblos Blancos. Extremely gracious common spaces with free hot drinks and snacks; a very welcome honor bar/refrigerator; comfortable outdoor seating for relaxing. The comfortable seating theme recurs throughout—the spaces around the pool, and nearby, are extremely inviting to lounge in during the afternoon respites from touring. We stayed in Room 1, which is very ample in size (both room and bathroom), quiet and comfortable. When you walk out the door of the room it’s like walking into the Natural Park of Grazalema in which the Cortijo is located. And Elisenda could not be a more accommodating host(ess). She is very helpful with touring tips, restaurant recommendations, driving directions, really everything you could need. We really regretted not having stayed longer than our two nights at Las Piletas—far and away the best place we stayed during our three week trip in Portugal and southern Spain. Visit their website to get a taste.

Room Tip: Room #1 is lovely

I messed up a hotel booking for central Ronda and stayed here for one night, at very short notice, on a recent week's cycling holiday with two friends. In reality, this was a much better base from which to ride, being right in the heart of stunning countryside and away from the steep cobbled streets of Ronda where we originally planned to stay.
Ellie (our host) was friendly & welcoming, with a wealth of local information and even a relief map to help us plan our routes! We took the family room, with a double bed, single bed & small mezzanine bed, which was all that we needed for our brief stay. The B&B, swimming pool & grounds were well maintained & gave a very relaxing environment.
The cycling was some of the nicest I've experienced (& I live in the french alps most of the year) - the roads are well kept, smooth & very quiet. We cycled through cork forests, found some lovely climbs, experienced some stunning views, and had the most fantastic descent from Puerto de las Palomas down to Zahara de la Sierra (lunch in the village square).
This is absolutely a hotel I will return to, and an area I am desperate to explore more.

We only had one night here as part of our cycling tour but it was memorable. We had room 8 with its own patio - gorgeous room. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is large enough to swim in rather than just splash. The honesty bar, the books to browse, the maps to consult, the old sunhats to try on - we needed more time. And we enjoyed a lovely evening meal and generous breakfast. Elli was chatty and informative about the area; we never met chef Pablo - maybe next time.

We have just returned from 4 nights at Las Piletas and must say what a blissful place to stay. The peace and tranquility of the location is amazing but is only15 minujtes away from Ronda. The Cortijo is immaculately presented and run by Elisenda and her husband Pablo. There are lots of sitting areas in the grounds and a lovely swimming pool with amazing views of the countryside. We sat by the pool late one afternoon watching griffon vultures gliding overhead, quite a majical experience. Breakfast is a really good buffet, good picnic lunches are provided on request and a delicious evening meal is prepared and cooked by Pablo. Although the Cortijo was mostly full we were really surprised that more guests did not take advantage of staying in for the evening meals when they were available - they were excellent. There is a very comfortable communal lounge with an honesty bar and an adjacent area where tea and coffee facilities are available all day and evening. Elisenda provided us with maps, walking guide books and recommended areas to visit - a perfect hostess. When evening meals are not available at the Cortijo, Elisenda has a list of recommended restaurants in Ronda and will make the booking for you. We can hightly recommend Las Piletas and plan to return,

Just back from three weeks in Spain and Cortijo de Las Piletas was one of the highlights of the trip! After several days in the hustle and bustle of Granada it was so nice to relax and recharge at the Cortijo.
It was a beautiful location and wonderful service from Elisenda and staff. All the rooms were very clean and the bathrooms perfect for all you need. We had dinner both nights and so enjoyed the food and conservation with the other quests. Breakfast was also very nice with many selections too. Lovely views and relaxing time around the pool. If you want a lovely relaxing stay, with all the flavors of Spain then stay here you and you will not be disappointed.
