“Perfect Location, Good Value”
Reviewed 9 August 2012

Hotel San Francisco is a budget hotel in Ronda, Spain. It is about a 5-10 minute walk from the train station and about a 5 minute walk from the bus station. It is also located one block from the pedestrian shopping street and again about 5-10 minutes fro the new bridge.
The hotel was very clean (which is very important!) and the room was spacious enough for my plethora of luggage. Breakfast was included, though it was quite simple.
I was very happy with my choice in Ronda. Excellent value for the money.

This budget hotel was good value for money. Very close to all the attactions and eating places all within walking distance. We had a front bedroom and as the town was very quite with little traffic it was very quiet. We had a lovely room in fact it looks exactly like the one in the picture and the bathroom was quite a good size. It offered breakfast at a small charge. Reception was very helpful.

The Hotel San Francisco in Ronda, Spain, is a very nice budget hotel in a very good downtown location.

On my recent stay there I had a non-smoking single room. The room was small but attractive and modernized (good windows, fresh paint, no carpets). It had everything I needed (the TV was an old CRT with a broken remote, but everything else was in excellent condition).

My room had no view (it opened on a courtyard air shaft). Larger front room doubles look out on the quiet street. The climate control (heat during my stay) worked well and was quiet. The bathroom was beautifully tiled and relatively spacious, with new fixtures.

The front desk staff was very friendly. I arrived early (mid-morning) from Malaga. They asked me to wait a while (I used their free internet), and 30 minutes later my room was ready.

The hotel offers breakfast at a small surcharge, but I did not try it. Halfway between the bus station and the hotel is a SPAR grocery with a good selection of fruit, bread, cheese, wine, and other picnic items.

When arriving in Ronda by bus, exit the bus station and go straight ahead (south) across the square (the left corner is better than the right since it passes the grocery and other shops). The hotel is an easy walk directly south (less than 10 minutes). It is just one block past (south of) the pedestrian street Espinel.

From the hotel it is an easy walk (less than 10 minutes) west to the main square, the bull ring, the mirador, and the famous Ronda bridge.

In the main square near the fountain a nice young fellow named Miguel offers twice daily guided treks for groups around Ronda and the countryside (he has fliers in the hotel). His English is adequate for treks and he is very pleasant to walk with. The treks/walks are “free” but he lives off his tips, so I gave him 10 euros for a 2 hour guided walk outside the city walls. I was the only client but tipped as if I were part of a group, which I alerted him in advance in case he wanted to cancel with only one client.

In summary, Ronda is a wonderful white hill town, and the Hotel San Francisco is a very good budget option in Ronda. I would happily stay there again. I booked through Expedia, for the convenience. It may be even cheaper booking directly.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet. Some look out on courtyard air shafts. Front rooms overlook a quiet street. A...

What to say more? The room was nice and well seized, big bathroom, everything was clean, staff was nice and the location is quite ok. We had just one problem, the room was near the elevator, so you could hear constantly people coming and going, above all in the morning; the problem was that the elevator does a loud BIP when you press the button. So my suggestion is: ask for a room far from the elevator.

Room Tip: Room away from the elevator

April '12 was our second stay at the Hotel San Francisco. This is a budget hotel but has charm and the staff is very helpful. Rooms are smallish, bathrooms are fine. Breakfast is included in the rate and the friendly server cheerfully gave us second large cups of coffee (made to order). Parking is on the street which can get a little complicated. Overall, the hotel, the price and its location make it a very good choice in Ronda if you are staying a night or two.

We weren't expecting much with the hotel being a 2* but were pleasantly surprised-it was very clean and had character (the bathroom was very pretty with all blue and white tiles). It's only about a 5 minute walk from the bus station (although I'd print a map before you go as the map at the station is awful) and close the the famous bridge and some fantastic bars so it was easy to get back after a late night. The only complaint I'd have is in the cold weather the room was quite cold (even with the 2 fleece blankets provided) which made it difficult to sleep. The staff were very friendly. I'd definitely recommend this hotel if you're staying in Ronda!

The room is small but clean. The location is also not bad. The main drawback is the poor quality of breakfast.
