“Best 2 nights in Puerto Rico”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2014

We loved our stay at the Hampton Inn by the airport on Isla Verde. We never heard the airplanes when in our room. We only occasionally heard them while at the pool, but the pool environment was so inviting and relaxing that the planes never bothered us. The breakfast was delicious and typical of Hampton Inn, but it did have variety from day to day. The surprise was that there was snacks and drinks free poolside in the evenings. We were there three days and two nights so we only ate lunch on the second day, otherwise we ate for free! Another surprise was the front desk personnel. They were so helpful, professional, and friendly. They recommended an excellent tour guide (Eliot Tours), helped me with directions, and several other questions I asked. The accommodations were very comfortable. The pool was warm and inviting. I absolutely recommend the Hampton Inn.

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet room which was in the middle of the first floor looking at the pool.

check-in made me a little mad but a simple fact that I've already booked the room on expedia.com for $487. When I get there I actually had to pay $649 and a $50 that I wasn't aware of. The hotel is beautiful the suite is phenomenal, and the pool area is gorgeous! What I really loved was that it was walking distance from the beach! restaurants were close by and so was Walgreens pharmacy. if you want to visit Old San Juan you will have to take a cab for it is 6 miles away from isla verde.

I would probably stay here again if I was a visit Puerto Rico but I wouldn't get the suite if it's not necessary

Usually when I think Hampton inn I think of some motel next to a highway.....Not true for this property! This is a very nice hotel close to the beach but also great for an early morning flight. Staff is very nice and helpful, English spoken. You can walk to many restaurants and the beach.

Room Tip: Walk to the beach in less than 10 minutes, there are a few cafés right next to the beach.

Once again, the most service oriented staff I have ever come across. Friendly from the moment you walk through the front doors, to the Housekeeping staff you find in the hallways, to the bar/pool staff, and the most efficient Front Desk staff. Spotless clean rooms and other hotel areas. You see the staff constantly working at all hours, and they do it with a smile. The breakfast in the morning is sufficient for all tastes and leaves nothing out one would want for the price. Great value when compared to all other San Juan area hotels. They do charge a "Resort Charge", but so does all the other hotels in San Juan at a much higher percentage, not counting a much higher room rate and tax as well. Things to consider when comparing this hotel against other is the fact that you also get the two hours evening reception with free drinks and snacks that you would never get a any other Hampton in the Sates, a good free breakfast that most other full service hotels around don't offer, and you still get to stay at a branded, well known hotel chain within the Hilton family at a great price and with much more extras. Thank you Hampton Inn San Juan staff for making my family vacation a great experience in San Juan. See you next year!

Room Tip: Pay a bit more and stay in one of the suites if you are traveling with kids. It is well worth it!

This hotel offered me the highest caliber of service one can expect from the check in to the check out and throughout my stay from breakfast to the pool bar, were outstanding. The staff, all who mostly spoke English and some who did not speak perfect English, ALL made themselves understood. I will return again and again.

After reading good reviews about this hotel, we decided to book a suite here for 2 nights. We stayed at the Double Tree before, and think this hotel is in a nicer location. Hotel is located near airport (taxi $14) but we did not hear much airport noise in the room – only when outside.
Suite on the 3rd floor, had a lounge and a bedroom (not very large) with the bathroom in between. It is nicely decorated, overlooks the pool but has a big tree in front of the window so the room is rather dark. We were in the old wing, not the new one. Room has a fridge, sink in the lounge section and one TV in lounge and one in bedroom.
Problem with the suite was that it was an interconnecting room, so the noise from the adjacent room was very noticeable. We did not realise this, until the people next door checked into their room. Since then, we have read very negative things about avoiding interconnecting rooms due to noise issues!
Shower over bath, but water pressures not good and we could not use the bath because the switch between shower and bath did not seem to work at all.
Breakfasts were nothing special, compared to breakfasts at the Double Tree.
Hotel charged a mandatory resort fee (like $25 a day) and the “benefits” were: complimentary pool side cocktail reception (a bit over-rated), daily evening snacks (a big disappointment, as the snack was a chocolate chip cookie!), free pool side massage (had to be there certain days, not everyday), live music ?
There is a large supermarket within walking distance of the hotel. We did not know this until a tour guide told us. If you exit the hotel via the carpark, turn left along a vacant block of land, keep walking to the end of the street, you come to a busy road and you will see a shopping centre with the supermarket.
While the hotel room was nice – there were a few areas of disappointment – undecided if we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Don't stay in interconnecting room, unless you want 2 adjacent rooms.

The hotel was clean, pool area was nice, breakfast was good. The front desk staff was a bit indifferent about guest needs. We stayed here one night before a cruise and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Perfectly adequate for a brief stay. The resort fee was high relative to the few guest amenities that were available. The immediate area around the hotel was not inviting.
