Management, very accommodating. They were overbooked and we were given a free night at another nearby hotel and our rooms were upgraded the next day. Made me a very happy camper.
Restaurant was great for breakfast. We had a great time at their Thursday party.

Room Tip: Great Ocean view rooms.

My mom and I stayed here while vacationing. The hotel met my expectations. The food and drinks were good. I thought the frozen drinks were a little pricey. The staff was extremely nice. I thought this hotel accommodated several age groups. The beach was nice but could get crowded at times. Be sure to walk down the beach to El Alambique. They have good drinks reasonably priced and great food. A must try is the tender fish bites! Overall a fantastic experience and would definitely return.

I planned a small bachelorette party (4 ladies total) to stay at the Intercontinental. They promised -- promised -- we would have two double bedrooms with an adjoining door between them. The front desk even promises it when we get to the lobby. We get to the rooms and no adjoining door. I call the front desk. Their answer: "oh, there are no adjoining doors between double bed rooms, only king rooms." So they lied every step of the way, thinking they could get us to stay there. Needless to say, we walked right out and went to the hotel next door with a 2-bedroom suite (for the same price as 2 regular rooms at the Intercontinental) and had the best time ever.

We enjoyed our weeklong stay at the Intercontinental San Juan, in fact we even stayed a day longer than we planned. This is an older property with smaller accommodations compared to other Intercontinental properties I have visited. We stayed in a Club Intercontinental room that offered a nice view of the pool area and a partial ocean view. We noticed these are the only rooms on property that have patio furniture (two chairs and a table). The room itself (#203) offered a small seating area with a couch and a desk and a king size bed area with a large flat screen TV. The bathroom area featured a small tub/ shower combo and one sink. However, while the bathroom was adequate, clean, and functional, it could use an update. The room had a large double closet with a safe and small fridge. There were some fantastic things about this room: extremely comfortable bed, very cold a/c, and nearly silent (except for some very slight air traffic noise). The housekeeping team was good, except for we only received turndown service 4 out of the 7 nights (may have been storm related).

Club Intercontinental: The club offers a light breakfast (bagels, toast, cheeses, cereal, etc.) in the mornings until 10:00am on weekdays and till 11:00am and the weekends. The coffee is amazing! Then, they leave small snacks out all day long (peanuts, fruit infused water, coffee, etc.). In the evenings they have a nice selection of tapas with beer and wine from 5:00pm- 7:00pm. The service in the Club Room is friendly and you can ask for a Coke or bottled water during cocktail hours and breakfast. While we were satisfied with the Club Room at this property, other Intercontinental Club rooms have a selection of sodas and waters out during the entire day.

Pool and Beach: Both the beach and pool are beautiful! The pool is very large and features a few rock waterfalls and a swim up bar. The pool bar offered us excellent service! Our bartender, Jaders, was quick to help therefore, we made sure to see him everyday that he was working. On his days off, Jose took great care of us too. They offer good food and creative drinks. Try the "Q-Collins" Gin! While service at the bar area is great, don't expect service at your pool chair. We stayed by the pool five of the seven days and were never offered any service at our chairs. I did not mind walking over and ordering drinks, but we overheard many people around us mention it. The beach, however, was a different story. The chairs are free and if you want an umbrella it is $10 for the day (not bad). The beach chair service is attentive too. We were served both days we laid at the beach. The water is nice and clear with soft sand.

Service: Nester Colon is one of the property highlights! He took great care of us and offered valuable information about the area and attractions. Every time my partner and I walked by him in the lobby he called us by name. During some rain, I asked him for an umbrella and he gave me his personal one to use! He also thanked me several times for be a Platinum Ambassador with the hotel group. We had a mixed service experience at the front desk. There was nothing horrible to report, but nothing impressive either.

Area: The resort is located in a good area that allows you to safely walk to neighboring resorts and casinos. The property is next to the El San Juan Hotel and short walk to the Ritz Carlton. We went to the El San Juan to watch the locals Salsa Dancing in the lobby on Saturday night. This is a must see! The Intercontinental also had salsa dancing in the lobby on Friday night! It was a good time. There is a grocery store/ liquor store/ general store across the street. Taxi rides to Condado were $14 each way and $20 to Old San Juan. The airport was 5 minutes away as well.

Food: The food and drinks were good. The best Cubano was at the beach cafe. The portions are huge therefore sharing would be smart. Prices were as expected for a resort.

Casino: The resort offers a large casino with several table games. I had really good luck playing here. It's clean and I was offered drinks on several occasions while playing.

Spa: The spa was a low point of our vacation and experience at this hotel. While the facility was nice, it seems they have "issues" with scheduling.

Overall, we enjoyed a good experience at the Intercontinental San Juan. We would return to the property. I have rated it 4 stars because of the minor service issues, the spa and dated bathrooms. However: Nester, Jaders, and the Club Intercontinental Staff did an excellent job making us feel at “home away from home”.

Room Tip: The two story building offers a full patio with furniture. Also, these rooms are larger than the tow...

A business trip had me in San Juan for only fourteen hours, so comfort was paramount for such a short stay. I certainly found it at the Intercontinental San Juan. The staff was amazing, the amenities ample and the location perfect for my stay. I'm looking forward to my next pass through town and won't even consider another resort. Well done!

We just stayed at the San Juan Intercontinental Hotel and we had an amazing time. We actually made friends with some of the the staff! Javier are the main bar was great! He made excellent drinks and was a pleasure to talk to. We would tell him what type of drinks we like and he would make us something delicious! My wife and I looked forward to going down to the bar and having a few drinks while talking to Javier. Hilton was was our room service person who was also excellent! Every day we had different animals made of towels on our bed. We had penguins, sea turtles and others. Hilton was very nice and helpful.

This staff was professional, friendly, helpful and always wore a smile. Although older, the hotel was clean and the gardens were beautiful. The only complaint that we have is that the food was way overpriced. Breakfast should not cost $40. anywhere. Problem solved. Go to strip mall across the street, Would stay there again and recommend it highly just because of the staff. Intercontinental, you are very lucky to have the employees that you have.

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies overlooking gardens, pools and ocean have great views.
