Stayed here last June while looking at places to have our upcoming wedding. Loved the Water Club so much that we decided to have our wedding there on 4/20/12. Could not have made a better decision!!! Nailin was a big help with setting everything up for us. She was there every step of the way. She even helped me with my dress as I walked to the beach. The service here is outstanding!!! Everyone from the check-in counter to housekeeping. Especially Danilo at the bar, Jose & Xavier the valets, and Victor the beach attendant. If you need any information about the area and what to do, the valets are the people to see. Love this place sooo much that we plan on going back every year for our anniversary. I don't see how this place could get a negative review. All of our wedding guests fell in love with The Water Club. Said that it was the best vacation they ever had. Food in the restaurant is fantastic. Well worth the money. The rooms are chic and clean. The housekeepers go above and beyond. They organized all of our toiletries and even hung up our bathing suits. How do they keep it so white and sand free? Can't say enough great things about this hotel and its staff. Only 11 more months till we return:)

The GOOD:
- Excellent Customer Service
- Beautiful ocean view room
- Free Wifi
- Location ( right across from the beach, literally!, close to resturants and Old San Juan)
- Room decor. The colors were cool, and it came with an iron and blow dryer.
- Beautiful beautiful rooftop lounge. It rained while we were there so the white couches were really dirty, hopefully they're cleaner during the summer.
- The hotel provided free beach chairs and towels

The BAD!:
- Run down parts of the room. The ceiling had small black holes, the corners of the room, bathroom and shower were dingy !!
- The shower was the stupidest thing in the world! It only had HALF door! A big down part of the trip was that every time we showered the floor would get soaken wet because the water would just leak onto the floor. And also the shower head barley dripped water! It took forever to take somewhat of a decent shower!!! Awful.
- Lighting in the room was terrible. During the day was no problem once it was dark out it was really hard to get ready to go out. The lights were extremely dim.
- Parking was $15 a night, rip off.
- Last but not least: The cleaning people smoked in our rooom!!!!!!!!! I hate the smell of smoke and when I came back home the room smelt extremely strong of smoke especially the bathroom and the ac was on to try and hide the smell but it only made it worse. I called the front desk to let them know and they said that the maid might of "flushed" cigaretts down from another room ... Serioiusly ??!

- Over all the trip was good, but the hotel was okay. I wouldnt stay there again nor would I recommend it to a friend. Spend your money at the Intercontiental or the El San Juan! The hotel should serioulsy consider spending some money into rennovating their rooms!

- And also before I forget, spray alot of bug spray!! The sand flies at the beach had a feast on my arm and back. I didnt even know there were mosquitos like this in Puerto Rico! Beware!

Room Tip: All the rooms seem to have a great ocean view

My friend and I loved SJ-WBCH. We felt like we were in paradise with the free umbrellas/lounge chairs on the beach, the coconut/cinnamon frozen treats and fruit sticks (free) they would bring us on the beach, the rooftop pool overlooking the coastline, and the first rate service we received from the front desk (Bryan was awesome*). The beach is literally right in front of the hotel and the views are picturesque. There are alot of convenient places to eat and a walgreens right nearby. Old San Juan was a 15-20 minute cab ride away (though they can get expensive approximately $21). The local bus picks up right across the walgreens and only cost 75 cents, but it can be hit or miss in terms of how long you have to wait (supposed to come every half hour or hour, but the locals said that it comes when it comes). All in all, my friend an I were sad to leave Isle Verde and SJ-WBCH and we definitely plan to go back.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel from Thursday, April 26th through Monday, April 30th. The hotel is located about a 7 minute drive from the airport. Upon arrival, you definitely get a South Beach, Miami look and feel. Most of the walls in the lobby, hotel floors and hotel room have white translucent curtains and blue lighting. It smelled really nice in the lobby - very tropical. It's literally steps away from the beach.

Pros:
1- Beach steps away - and beach chairs, towels and umbrellas are complimentary and beach staff are friendly. there is also beach side food service (e.g. sandwiches and beverages) from the hotel rooftop bar
2- Zest Restaurant - just having recently opened, the food and service was excellent. Valerie was our waitress and she did a great job with explaining the menu and suggesting dishes we should try. We received a 30% discount for our dinner meal because they were still going through a 'soft-opening' with their restaurant.
3- Rooftop Bar (Mist) - food and drinks from this bar was fairly decent. The views are spectacular and there was plenty of seating both during the night and day to hangout.
4- Overall service - folks at the front desk were always helpful and pleasant

Cons -
1- No full length mirror in room - they did have one but it had a protruding shelf which cut the mirror in half. Bad choice, that shelf is not needed.
2- No dressers in the room - although reading through other reviews seems they are making this available in other rooms. Had I known other rooms had them, I would have requested they change us to one that had. It made it difficult to find room to hang up some of our towels and bathing suits to dry.
3- Pool - quite small; but not so bad given that the ocean is literally across the street.
4- Rooftop Bar - although the bar is decorated quite stylish and trendy, but the noise level is so loud. We were on the last floor (10th) and right above us was the rooftop bar and you could hear the noise reverberate and apparently extending to the 4th floor.

This is definitely not a child-friendly hotel. If you're young, single or a young couple, this is a good option. You also need to be able to tolerate loud music. I didn't care as much since I can sleep through most noise but my husband had a hard time sleeping, esp. since the music from Thursday night through Sat night didn't end until about 2AM.

Room Tip: Ask for one that has a dresser.

Thank you for your comments, I respect all feedback “pros and cons” and find it useful to help the hotel learn and improve. I am pleased that our newly restaurant Zest was pleasing to your palate and especially the service that Valerie provided exceeded your expectations. I have also noted your comments about noise issues; being a boutique hotel destination WBC remains one of the "hotspots" to see and be seen. Our guests should always feel that they are the priority and I offer my sincere apologies for not being able to exceed your expectations. I would be happy to be your WBC ally when you return. I will make sure you receive the best WBC experience possible.
Warmly,
Virna

Modeled on the recent trend to hip botique hotels. Located on a beautiful beach. Very friendly beach staff ready with a chair and umbrella. The jewel in the crown is their fantastic bar and restaurant. Enjoyed an excellent banana mojito and 4-star meal. Try the pollo arroz and doughnuts for dessert--excellent. Fun free cocktail hour from 7-8. High ceilinged room (all white with one bright turquoise blue accent wall), recently updated bathroom and nice bed linens. General lighting made room glow a faint purple/blue which took some getting used to. However bedside lights were provided with normal bulbs. Detractions -- oddly beatup pieces of ikea style cabinets in room, "closet" consisting of a beat up set of drawers located behind a curtain in a nook, and windows which let in noise from the outdoors. Elevator has a waterall for a back wall and a plexiglass ceiling... very creative! Overall a nice hotel. Certainly not your average tourist experience.

The Boutique Hotel was very high class. The concierge staff was very helpful and gave us great recommendations for dining and off the beaten path excursions. The beach front was well kept with helpful staff to provide umbrellas, towels, and chairs. I would definitely recommend this hotel and was very happy with my experience. Finally, the location was ideal. The roof top pool and lounge area was first class.

Actually stayed here a few years ago for a short trip to Puerto Rico. It was a great hotel. Cool Miami vibe. There was actually a Christmas tree hanging from the ceiling in the lobby. Loved the location, beach was right across the street. Little restaurant El Alambique had great cheap mojitos and very good food. Not very close to Old San Juan and main city center but great if you want to hang out on the beach.
