“A Very Nice Place To Stay”
Reviewed 31 May 2011

Having visited Corfu town for a day whilst on a cruise last October we thought it was lovely and decided to return for a holiday. We wanted a break that would offer relaxation so booked the Louis Grand and were not disappointed.

The staff throughout our stay were very helpful, we were served with a smile and they alway had time for a chat. Andreas the Service Manager and his team looked after the guests well, nothing was a trouble to them. There were management around from Head Office reviewing the refurbishment but they certainly were not intrusive. Every staff member was proud of the hotel and trying very hard to please. Our request was for a quiet room on a low floor and that is what we got. The bedroom was light and airy with plenty of storage space and a fridge so we were able to keep our water chilled. The beds being new were firm but after requesting extra pillows we slept well. The lounges, bar and terrace had lots of nice comfortable settees and chairs so you could always find somewhere to sit.

The food was excellent and plentiful with a varity of choice. Breakfast and dinner were served in the restaurant and on the terrace. Lunch was served outside around the pool/beach area.Tea and cakes were available in the bar at 4.30pm as well as sandwiches at around 10.30.pm. One evening during our weeks stay we were able to eat in the Asian restaurant, the food was beautifully cooked and fresh tasting.

There was entertainment each night which mainly took place outside. It was nice to sit and relax with a drink and enjoy the warm evenings. The beach and pool area were lovely with lots of shade if you wanted to keep out of the sun.

As the hotel was a bit isolated you may want to consider hiring a car we took an organised tour "Simply Corfu" which was a full day 8.30am until 7.pm. the hotel could provide a packed lunch if required. We thought this was a good way to see the island and our guide was both knowledgeable and informative. We also used the hotel bus which took us into Corfu town this worked well and ran to time.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Louis Grand and would most definitely return.

Not long back from two weeks at the Louis Grand. I had a few doubts having read some of the reviews but the location, hotel, food and staff were great. The purpose of this holiday for my husband and I was to relax and we got what we wished for.

I do agree with some of the reviews that this is not really a place for children as there is not much for them. The animation team try their best but I would say this place is definately one forthe adults.

Here's a few tips/observations:
Take a portable dvd player if you fancy a film as you only get BBC World or CNN in english.
Take a travel kettle as non provided in rooms.
We were on the first floor with a sea view but the restaurant was above us and can be a bit noisy (didn't bother us) so if you do like quiet it might be an idea to go to a higher floor.
On the way home, Corfu airport is tiny and a bit pricey for food. When we got off the bus we had to queue outside the airport as not enough room inside (not a lot of seating either). Ok for us but felt sorry for some of the older folks.

Having returned from our fifth holiday at this hotel, we again thoroughly enjoyed it!
The hotel is on one of the best beaches in Corfu - with only one other hotel and a lot of private villas - no busy road in front of it just a steep uphill pull if you want to go out!
Plus points:- We had been a bit apprehensive that a recent refurbishment would either have spoilt it, or not been finished on time! However, neither was the case, and the main rooms, including the large bar/lounge, certainly had a lot more comfy seating room than before. The bedrooms had been refloored (previously carpets) and the old dark furniture replaced by paler woods and soft colours. Beds firm but comfy.
This is generally an all-inclusive hotel, and we find that the selection of food is excellent, superb salad bar, a wide range of hot foods (though maybe a bit short on vegetarian main dishes) and some very sweet Greek puds! If you can't find something you like here we really can't understand it. The drinks are also all free, and although local versions of most spirits they are of reasonable quality, and the terrace is a great place to watch the sunset. Restaurant team are generally very helpful, but could do with more small tables! Lunch is served down by the beach - very nice as you don't have to change.
Beautiful sandy beach, great for swimming, and nice large clean (but rather cold) pool with plenty of sunbeds. A free shuttle bus runs into Corfu town three times a day and picks you up again.
Minus points: We were joined by our son and family and if you have a child under 3 then this hotel will not be easy for you. The family rooms are very nice (though not as sound-proofed as they should be) with sliding doors separating sleeping area for 2 children, BUT to reach them you have do take a pram/buggy down the lift, then down/up two sets of steps and then try to open heavy double doors which open towards you! There is no baby-listening service, and no early meals, so unless you take your own alarm system you will have to keep the children up late.
To get to the beach there are more sets of steps - could also be a problem for anyone with walking difficulties. The lifts are totally inadequate even out of season.
I know many people enjoy entertainment, but please not in the main bar, and when using the outdoor stage in the evenings we wish they would keep the noise down! Small childrens pool could do with a bit of heating early and late season

So, if you are in the older age bracket, go early or late in the season and enjoy the beach or get a car (easily hired in the hotel) and explore this lovely island.

this was our third trip to this hotel and will be our last.the food was so repetetive and boring not as good as our first trips,in a country that eats lots of lamb we had it twice mainly bone hardly any lamb.the atmosphere has changed, there were too many managers walking about and there presence was very offputting, many other guests said the same thing.the staff bless them tried their hardest to improve things for the guests but it was hard for them to do so as it seemed they were in fear of losing their jobs.it appears as if PROFIT is more important than the QUALITY we used to get at this hotel. It is a shame that the Louis Hotel Group became Lti Hotels i fear it was the biggest mistake that they have ever made. not the best holidayR.Bird

Dear guest,

Thank you for staying at the lti Louis Grand Hotel and for sharing your comments with us.
As you may know the hotel only recently opened after a full refurbishment, so the imperfections which you mention have since then been taken care of.

As a company, we pride ourselves in having a Head Office which is close to its employees, its hotels and above all, its customers. The reason you saw so many members of our Head Office team is because, as with every new opening, they get involved with hotel operations to ensure the best quality of services for you, our customers. It is their way to lead by example, and to prove to our staff that they are next to them in the day to day management of the hotel.

Best regards

just got back from a weeks stay at the Louis Grand, from the moment we stepped off the bus we were made to feel welcome, every single member of staff were polite and attentive the managers were observing the staff and ensuring the guests had their every needs met before they even asked for anything, the food was superb - the quality and choice was more than enough for even the fussiest of travellers. The hotel rooms were all brand new having undergone a refurb, spotlessly clean, no bugs or mozzies at all, the restaurant overlooked the pool and sea and there was always enough space to get a table without fighting your way to one, never had to queue for food or for hotel sunloungers, pool area was lovely overlooking the sea and again no rush to put a towel out at silly o clock, just a gentle sedate wander down whenever you was ready. After our evening meal we would get our drinks from the bar then find loads of places to have a soft sit down in one of the many lounge areas, a great relaxing break - totally bliss. All my children are grown up adults now but if they were smaller I wouldnt take them to this hotel as in my opinion its not a kiddie type holiday but a very grown up get away from it all relaxing type holiday.

The hotel had recently undergone a refurbishment and we think we were probably the first to use our newly refurbished room. It was clean, light and bright. The room was an upgraded sea view room and whilst we could see the sea, we were actually looking into the restaurant and felt very overlooked. The description on line was that standard rooms would sleep up to 3 and a cot. This is not the case. At a squeeze there were twin beds and a cot. We had a cozy time with two adults, a 4 year old and a baby sharing a room!! We had to walk to the bar to get hot water for sterilising and making up bottles, as no kettle was available in room, we felt this was dangerous and could have resulted in an accident - the reception staff were not prepared to offer an alternative - we were given a metal ice bucket to transport boliing water in.... not ideal!
Moaning over, despite a few issues we had a great time. My children are 1 and 4 and my eldest loved the kids club and mini disco, special mention to the animation team who were fabulous and brilliant with kids!! The food was plentiful and loads of choice at every meal time, and when it's not main meal time you can get high tea in the bar or snacks in the pool side area.... never a hungry moment! Drinks were great - Blue Lagoons a must! Pool is NOT heated and in early May was unbearably cold. Proximity to the beautiful beach can't be knocked and the pedalo was good fun. there are a couple fo shops nearby - expensive though, but did provide the essential lilo and arm bands. Overall we had great time and if there weren't so many places in the world to see then we'd return.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view on level 6 or 7.

Dear guest,

Thank you for sharing your opinion about the Iti Louis Grand Hotel.

We are delighted that you had an enjoyable stay. We would like to point out that in general we avoid placing kettles in the rooms. We have often read situations where customers have left kettles on while being out of the room; as a result, an electrical failure occurred and a fire broke out. Since, we do not want to take similar risks with our hotels, we hope for your understanding on this matter.

Best regards
