This is a nice hotel but very isolated. Coach travel needed to get anywhere. Rooms nice, food not to everyone's liking. Good holiday for a week but no more

Booked this Hotel in late January 2012 (after reading reviews first of course!), through First Choice. Its all inclusive and has been refurbished, the twin rooms looked nice as well. Followed another reviewers advice and upgraded to a sea view room at the time of booking. Sent an e-mail (again following advice from the review) requesting a higher floor (5 or 6) if possible. Prompt reply to my e-mail saying that would see what they could do. Arrived Monday evening 21st May at 21.55, booked in was given key to room 337 (so much for the higher room then!). Went into the room as was dismayed to discover that it was quiet clearly a family room (2 small single kids beds and a double bed), went out onto the balcony to check out the view, and straight in front of me was a car park with a hill behind it, to the right and down were some green bins and looking left were a line of balconies with trees and bushes and a small building at the end of them, behind all this was the what can only be described as a partial side sea view!! After complaint to reception told to return in the morning, the following morning after much tooing and froing to reception at 13.15pm we finally got what we paid for, could at last unpack and start to enjoy our holiday. A nice twin room on the 5th floor (room 532) with a full sea view, only downer was the fridge that didn't seem to be working, but we didn't care, as if we wanted a cold drink the bars were open and also I just couldn't be bothered with the hassle of complaining to reception again. Tea and Coffee making facilities were provided in every room which all had been refurbished and had flat screen (LG) TV's. English channels were BBC1, ITV and DW (a news channel). The Staff were very friendly and efficient, particularly those working in the Bars. On all inclusive you could have any kind of local drink you wanted which included Beer, wine and spirits. I found the beer very drinkable (albeit slightly Gassy), the wine? well lets just say its free and leave it at that, and the spirits just fine (unless you are a hardened drinker), you could also get Tea and Coffee at all the bars. Food was nothing exceptional but equally it wasn't bad either, and each night was a themed night, Wednesday is Fish night (I'm afraid we are not lovers of sea food), but if you fancied something else there was a meat dish on as well. My wife particularly liked the sweets, in fact I'm not a big eater of sweets but even I couldn't help but tuck in as well. Their was always a vegetarian section available with plenty of choice. There is an Asian restaurant next to the main Restaurant, here you are allowed to go and have one meal during your stay but it has to be pre booked 48 hours in advance, we never managed to get a booking, but to be honest we didn't try all that hard so were not disappointed. Lunchs are served outside in the entertainment area from 1230 - 1530, so plenty of time to get a bite to eat for those who went into Corfu on the curtesy bus, (more of which later). Breakfast and Dinner are served in the main restaurant on floor 2, the Castelle Bar which is directly opposite the restaurant is a very nice and relaxing place to enjoy an after dinner drink. There is the usual rush for sun loungers around the pool in the mornings but we always seemed to find one either there or on the beach. Despite what the Hotels own guide says, I can confirm that there is no charge for the Hotels sun loungers on the beach. The pool is quite large and never seemed to be full during the week we were there, some hardy souls did swim in the sea each day, but we confined ourselves to paddling along its edges as it wasn't very warm (bit early in the season I think). Every day breakers rolled up the beach and we didn't see any sign of fish swimming around your toes as another reviewer has said. We did however during one of our walks, come across a nude man on the far left of the beach among the rocks, and a topless woman sunbather at the far right hand edge of the beach, so it would appear that the area is liked by naturalists! Should you require a bath towel the Hotel will loan you one for a returnable deposit of Ten Euro's. Each room has a safety deposit box in its wardrobes, unfortunately it is not free and there is a daily charge of 3.50 Euro's for it. Should you book an excursion (most of them are Very LONG whole day affairs) then go to reception the day before the excursion (before 18.00hours) and book a packed lunch, we booked one and it consisted of 2 x cartons of fruit juice, 2 x bottles of water, a single sandwich cut in half, two pieces of sponge type cake, two apples and two oranges. If you wish to use the curtesy bus into Corfu (it runs daily except Sundays) then again you must prebook it as places are limited. It runs at 0945 (I think) and again at 10.30 (the one we went on twice) it takes just under 30 minutes to get there leaving you with just over 3 hours to sight see etc, which we found to be ample, leaving Corfu at 14.15 and getting back to the hotel before 15.00 (hence my info on getting back in time for lunch!) Should you wish to remain in Corfu town past the 14.15 return time then you must make your own way back. Hire Cars are readily available, in fact I think there is a hire car place actually at the hotel, a word of warning though, the roads are not very good, driving whilst using a mobile phone is common place as is overtaking across double white lines. Motor bikers and scooter riders seldom were crash helmets and right of way seems to be a bit hit and miss (quite literally) in some places. The Hotel is VERY isolated, we were aware of this at the time of booking, but didn't realise just how isolated it was when we got there, if you want to go out for a walk at night then you must have the constitution of a mountain lion as its a very steep road up the hill to the nearest village. We did the Simply Corfu excursion which was pretty good until the coach hit a pick up truck coming uphill and around a steep bend from the opposite direction. The pickup had stopped on the corner on seeing us, unfortunately for him the coach driver did not, and a minor (broken lights, slight dents) shunt occured. We pulled over and the tour guide explained that in Greece all minor traffic accidents had to have the police come out and attend so that they could take photo's, presumably to ascertain the blame for insurance purposes. Some 30 minutes or more later and still no sign of the police (despite saying they were nearby and would be 5 minutes) both drivers agreed to share the blame, and we got under way again. We started the excursion at 8 in the morning and got back to the Hotel either just before or just after 7 in the evening, so as I have already mentioned be prepared for a long day out if you go on one! Can't comment on the evening entertainment as we stayed in the Castelle Bar lounge most evenings before going to bed. There is also what appears to be a very well appointed fitness centre in the grounds with running machines etc in it, though I must confess I never saw it in use while we were there. One thing I did have a bit of trouble with was getting used to the 2 hour time difference, when we went to bed at 11 at night local time it was only 9 in the evening in the UK, so it took a while to finally fall asleep. As to the guests, there was an almost equal mix of German and British, the predominate group I'd say were in the 50 to 70 age bracket, though there were quite a few toddlers and babes in prams there as well, which was refreshing to see, and I enjoyed their antics in the pool with their parents (to early in the season for school age children, though there were 3 or 4 teenagers there as well). There was a creche for children, 2 x table tennis tables, an oversized outside Chess set a Tennis Court and of course the animation team who worked tirelessly (without much success I'm afraid) trying to get people to play water polo, volleyball etc.
Summing up, did we enjoy it? Well Yes and No, I was not impressed with whoever the person who allocates the rooms is, as he or she should take more care and make sure the right rooms go to the people who booked them. The Hotel itself was very nice as were the hardworking staff, the curtesy bus was a boon as it at least got you out for a few hours (we are not avid sun worshippers and could only stand so much before getting bored, yes I know I was fully aware of the isolation at the time of booking), the beach was good as was the pool, oh! I forgot to mention there are also rooms with their own swim up pool (well actually its more like a moat as it runs along the full lenght of the rooms) in front of them and their own sun loungers as well, which looked very nice. The weather there was a bit hit and miss ranging from a couple of nice hot days to the normally slightly overcast days we also had a very loud thunderstorm at around Sunday lunchtime. Would I return? No, but I'm glad in a way that we have experienced this kind of Holiday, and those who seek this type of holiday will be very pleased that they chose the LTI LOUIS GRAND (provided of course that they get the rooms they booked). One final thing, if you do upgrade to a sea view room try if possible to get it in writing from your tour company that it will be a full sea view, there are quite a lot of rooms down the side of the hotel with either side sea views or partial side sea views, and considering that all rooms with some sort of sea view cost the same to upgrade to, then you will be very disappointed if you get a side room towards the rear of the hotel!

Room Tip: If you upgrade then insist on a full sea view (though how they can guarantee this I don't know...

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2012

Have just returned from another lovely week at the LTI Louis Grand. We had a sea facing view on the 7th floor,, fantastic views of the pool and of the whole beach. The room was spacious with plenty of storage space. A large bottle of water provided in the in room fridge and a bottle of red wine and a cork screw. Tea and coffee was provided and 2 full size mugs. The in room information pack contained all the information that was needed,, be it extra pillows, room service etc etc,,,, Any other questions were promptly answered at the reception desk,,, or by calling zero on the in room telephone. The air-con was provided free of charge and the in room safe was 21 Euros for the week. A large bottle of water is provided every night in your room and if you are lucky enough to see the person who comes round with a trolley with the water ,, they also have extra tea coffee and milk that they top up. However even though we only saw him twice,,,tea coffee and milk were topped up along with the water every night. Internet is provided in the internet corner and was 2 Euros for 30 mins. The Asian Restaurant was open 3 nights a week ,, being Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday,,, but it may open on more nights during the high season. The food was the same excellent standard we had enjoyed last year and really is good quality. No complaints from us at all. All the sunbeds on the beach have been replaced with brand new ones and new Parasols,, they do look really classy,,,The new swim up rooms are really nice and have not taken away any room from the gardens,,,, these are great for family's with children who can still enjoy the sun and pool while the children may be having a nap. The childcare facilities looked really good with the little ones having a great time in the creche. The rooms worked out about 25 Euros extra per room per night. I would not have one my self due to the fact that i would have been tempted to stay in the room the whole holiday and lay on the the sunbeds provided with every swim up room,, we like the beach too much, but if i was going away with children then i would certainly pay the extra. The free shuttle bus to Corfu dropped you and and picked back up 4 hours later,,, however we just stayed and got a taxi back for 30 Euros,, which was worth it and there was 4 of us. !! we had a lovely day out. Pelekas a lovely little village,,, was really nice for an evening out if you want a change,,,, a taxi was 15 Euros from the hotel. Golf can be booked through the Hotel at a special rate,,, for 2 people it was 40 Euros which included 18 holes,, half a set of golf clubs each, a bottle of water and a beer each when you get back. A buggy could be hired for 30 Euros. The taxi was 15 Euros. We had a late flight home and asked if possible to keep our room on until 6pm, it wasn't possible but we were provided with a room to shower for 30 mins,, this has to be booked through reception, so it is best to sort this out a couple of days before,, we felt like we had an extra day on holiday instead of thinking we were just hanging around waiting for our transfer back to the airport. We had an amazing time and everyone could do with a week at the LTI Louis Grand,,, i wish it was on prescription !! People do have different opinions, we overheard a man saying the beds were killing him,,,,we slept like babies,, The hotel is isolated to a point but it is east to get around if you wish,,,If you want a fantastic week away being spoilt with plenty of great food,,, drinks, gorgeous hotel,,,beautiful beach, gorgeous weather and fantastic staff then the Louis Grand ticks all the right boxes,,,,and you don't have to spend a penny if you don't want to,,,,My only slight negative is the evening entertainment,,,, if you are expecting all singing and all dancing then you will be disappointed,,, however this is not a top priority for us,,, we can enjoy anything even if its not to our taste,,, but i can see how some people would find this a negative. The day time entertainment included the usual aerobics, bowls and beach volleyball which everyone enjoyed, you were never hassled to take part but politely asked.. We will be making a once yearly trip to Glyfada from now on,,, its everything we want and need to recharge our batteries.

Just back from an excellent week in this hotel. Recently renovated to a very high standard, bright modern rooms, all the usual tea and coffee making facilities, nice touch a bottle of local wine in the room on first day also free bottles of water put in fridge every day.
Views from front of hotel are great, overlooking the gardens, the pool and the beach. Views from back of hotel are ok, but get a beach facing room if you can.
We were on an all inclusive package in common with most other guests and the food and service were first rate, loads of choice at every meal , breakfast and evening meals could be taken in the main restaurant or on the balcony overlooking pool and sea. Lunch was taken at beach side area with plenty of shade if required.
Busy beach side bar with wide range of cocktails, beer and soft drinks was open all day with quick and friendly service.
The staff at the hotel actually appear to enjoy their jobs and we found staff in all parts of the hotel to be friendly and helpful.
The hotel is a little remote so it is probably a good idea to check out what trips are on offer if you want to see more of the island or beyond [we went on an organised trip to Albania, which was interesting ].
We would certainly consider returning to this hotel when we next visit Corfu.

Room Tip: Some rooms at front of hotel have swim up facility.

Just came back from this hotel , would have gave it an excellant but the night entertainment spoilt it.
The Bedrooms, food and staff were great but evening entertainment was very very poor. I have stayed at other Louis hotels (in Paphos) and the day and night entertainment was fantastic, Archery, shooting, shuffle board, bowls etc during the day and Bingo and live shows every night, what you get at this hotel is a quiz most nights and one of the animation team trying to sing ( he was terrible). The only good night was when there was a magic show, but even that only lasted an hour!!!
The Hotel is very secluded, so the entertainment should be an important part of this hotel.
Will rate the Rooms, food and staff, especially in the restaurant 1st class.
The entertainment poor.
