“A relaxing holiday!”
Reviewed 15 June 2012

We came here on our honeymoon in the first week of September 2011 with our two year old son for 1 week. For me, the best things about this holiday were the gorgeous beach (which is right on your doorstep - we could see it from our room!) and the large variety of food.
CHECK IN was quick and easy which is what we needed with a tired two year old! Our room was on the ground floor facing the beach so we were lucky, some rooms are facing others. I think ours has now been refurbished and have a swim up pool outside of them. There was a bottle of red wine and a bowl of fruit waiting for us. Our room was clean and comfortable, we had plenty of room for the three of us. The shower was good (which is over the bath). Plenty of wardrobe space. Fridge was very small. Cleaner came in daily but I would have liked to have seen the floors being cleaned properly everyday - we brought a lot of sand in which became uncomfortable!
THE POOL AREA was ok, there was a bad smell near the children's pool but it wasn't too unbearable. There were daily activities in the pool which people enjoyed. We came at a quieter time and the sun loungers round the pool went quickly but we did always manage to get one fairly quickly, some people would leave their towels on them which was annoying!
THE BEACH was gorgeous! The sea is completely clear and so warm! You can hire boats which we did a few times - you can really take in the beauty of the place. We never struggled for a place to relax on it.
THE FOOD is fantastic, plenty of choice. All cutlery and plates etc. Were spotless. There really was something for everyone. Breakfast is in the main restaurant, lunch is buffet outside right in front of the beach. The only bad thing about that was the wasps! All sorts to eat - salads, burgers, lots of cooked meat, pasta, fruit, chips... The desserts they have are very good, so many - the bread and butter pudding is to die for! The main restaurant is very spacious, there are tables outside looking out over the sea which was lovely. There is an a la carte restaurant which you book in advance (and make sure you don't forget to do this as they get booked up quickly!) Food was nice there although I really would have liked to have waiter service in there even for an extra charge so that it wasn't all buffet food in the hotel!! Something I noticed was that the drinks seem very watered down in the restaurants and at the bars. There is a very nice bar upstairs next to the main restaurant, we enjoyed a drink in there before going for dinner and a beach bar in perfect reach when you're sunbathing or in the pool.
THE LOCATION of the hotel felt too isolated for us. We didn't have a car though which I think is a must here. We would have liked to have been able to go for a walk at night outside the hotel to see different places but it really did feel like it is in the middle of no-where! Corfu town is about a 45 minute drive I think, and there is a free bus that you book in advance going into town from right outside the hotel everyday but I would definitely recommend hiring a car for a holiday here. The town kept us busy all day when we went there, so much to do and explore it's definitely worth the drive. There is a few shops round the hotel that sell essentials, magazines and souveniers etc.
All in all a very enjoyable honeymoon and family holiday.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor have less people walking through the corridors and you can hear everything...

Just returned from a lovely week at lti Louis Grand. Location is breathtaking. Choice and quality of food was better than some of the 5 star hotels I've stayed in. Found staff and management extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Hotel and grounds spotless and well laid out. Enjoyed entertainment but felt kids club was dull and uninviting. Would also suggest moving park, which is pretty run down and too isolated, to the beach. It's a great way for children to meet and make friends. I would definitely go back.

Pros:

Rooms are lovely having been newly renovated, air conditioning is good, bottle of water left daily, slippers and gowns were an added bonus.

Food was lovely, i don't know what some reviewers were talking about with 'too salty' only a couple of things could have been considered in that category, there was plenty of choice everyday (probably too much as i was getting a bit tired of it by the end of the week) huge amounts of chicken, pork, fish, beef, duck occasionally, everything you could ask for.

Pool area was nice, although it was starting to get difficult to get a sunbed around it towards the end of the week (we went 28th May), sunbeds are soooo comfortable.

Drinks were strong, i kept to the vodka as i know what the local rum tends to taste like, but my partner tried pretty much everything and didn't have a complaint to make!

Staff are lovely, always a smile, there's no rushing you after meals (as we tended to eat late the restaurant ended up a bit deserted!) always willing to make up a table if needed.

Cons:

A couple of nights we struggled for hot water, i don't know if demand had peaked but i did have a couple of lukewarm showers which wasn't the end of the world.

Although the room have been renovated, the corridors are a bit dingy shall we say and they haven't replaced any of the bathroom/bedroom doors, the latter means that you can hear virtually everything going on in the corridor, which usually isn't a problem until kids use it as a sprint track at 7am! And the bathroom doors just make it look a bit shoddy when the rest of the room looks so good.

We tried the asian restaurant and thought as it was 'a one time option during your stay' it would be a waiter service with a menu, but alas it was again a buffet but with a severe lack of starters/desserts and the main courses were purely chinese - most had been served in the main restaurant earlier in the week which meant it was nothing special (apart from the prawn crackers!!) so i wouldn't waste your time to be honest, we ended up having dessert in the main restaurant afterwards!

As i only drink spirits getting a drink in the restaurant was a bit of a faff, initially the waitresses happily brought me a vodka, but then one refused saying i had to get it myself from the bar opposite the restaurant, i was fine with this, but as my partner drank wine it often meant we went ignored as they assumed because i had a drink we were all sorted, it took a good 10 mins to finally wave down a waitress to get a drink and one night we never managed it unfortunately.

Towards the end of the week there was a massive influx of people which completely destroyed the relaxed manner of mealtimes, it was at times manic and i'm sure it would have been easier to get blood out of a stone than to manage to get a pancake at breakfast without queuing by the last day.

Entertainment - initially rubbish but then they had 3 opera singer blokes and the beatles who weren't too bad, maybe things are bucking up a bit?!

Overall:

Yes, this place is out of the way but you should know that before you book!! We went to corfu town one day on the free bus and it was nothing special, 3 hours was more than enough to look round. There were a few too many kids for my liking which surprised me as it wasn't really marketed as a 'kidsy' type of hotel so please bare that in mind when booking. As you can see my 'complaints' are sooooo minor, this really is a lovely hotel, well run and i would recommend it to anyone (travelling outside peak times as i imagine it might just get a bit too bonkers for me!).

Room Tip: Paying for a seaview room probably is worthwhile.

Recently took my wifde and 3 children for a week at the Louis Grand.
Location is beautiful. Beach (literally 30 seconds walk from hotel) is the best on the island with loads to do.
Staff are all friendly, courteous and helpful, from reception to waiters/ waitresses and bar staff.
Evening entertainment was a little hit and miss, but this did not matter, overall good fun (the kids entertainer did a great job night-after-night).
Meal times were a real high point, always fresh and loads of variety, good quality.
Only negative would be the difficulty in getting out and about, a little isolated, with a tough climb immediatley outside of hotel, car definitely needed.
A strange smell near the pool area which needed daily attention from the hotel staff, but was not over-powering and easy to move away from.

Overall this was a perfect stay, would love to return, congrats to the management and staff of the hotel.

My partner and I recently spent a lovely week here and I can honestly say I have no complaints. The pool area and beach are clean, with beautiful views. The food is excellent with a wide variety of choice at each meal and the staff are extremely attentive and very quick to clear plates away. Whilst I've tasted nicer wine, the local wine was perfectably drinkable and my partner says the same about the beer. The cocktails were lovely and we enjoyed having these down at the beach bar in the evenings. Some previous reviewers have complained about wasps or mosquitoes however we had no trouble with either during our stay (although it may not have been warm enough yet for them to appear). The rooms are modern and kept to a very clean standard. You get 1 free big bottle of water in the room daily, however we often bought a second in the little shop outside reception as well as an English paper. Although there were a lot of people staying in the hotel, it was spacious enough with lots of areas to sit and chat, as well as sunbeds, that you didn't feel like you were on top of each other. Holiday makers seemed to be of mixed ages with some young children but not enough so that it ever bothered us. Staff do gently encourage you to take part in activities but never pushed it on us once we said no thanks. I can't say too much about the entertainment as we generally stayed in one of the bars and chatted most evenings but it seemed to be the usual stuff. I'd agree that this is not the hotel for you if you want to go on any adventures or sightseeing (unless you hire a car). However we just wanted a week of relaxing, doing nothing except lying by the pool or on the beach and thats exactly what we got!

My partner and I have just returned from a week here and we had a great time. The hotel is located in a very picturesque location, right on the beach, with green, sweeping mountains on all sides. Beautiful. The rooms are immaculate, beds very comfy and spacious. Our room had a sea view, which was truly one of the highlights of our stay. It was a shame that the evenings are still a bit chilly, as we would have liked to sit out on the balcony in the evening as we have on holidays before. The food is excellent, a good selection to cater for everyone. The restaurant staff are helpful and very attentive to your needs. Both myself and my partner agreed that the staff at this hotel are amongst the friendliest we have ever encountered. One word of warning though, it seemed like there were A LOT of small children at this hotel, not sure if this just happened to be the week that we stayed but there were several screaming kids in the dining room at one time, on multiple occasions, which is not good if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing dinner time. The same applies to the pool area and beach, relaxing and well maintained, but with small children everywhere. If you are a couple planning to go here to relax with a book by the pool, I thought it worth mentioning that screaming children are definitely a factor to be considered! Aside from this little moan, the hotel itself, the service, the setting, the cleanliness, we're all to an excellent standard.

The location itself in as far as amenities was remote, to say the least. 15km from anything, it was a little too quiet for us, as we like to walk off and adventure. It's at the bottom of a very big, sloping hill, so walking is pretty much out of the question. There is a shop on the hotel premises and a few other little places if you walk along the beach, but thats pretty much it. We paid to go out on an excursion to break the week up and without this, I think I wold have gone a bit crazy with boredom but that's just me. If you literally just want to lie on the beach/pool all day, this place is ideal.

The entertainment in the evenings is awful, to be blunt. After dinner you can either go down to the beach bar to watch this, or stay in the hotel's indoor bar, which is very quiet and full of people playing cards! I think what I am getting at is that this is not the hotel to go for if you are looking for a lot of entertainment in the evenings. There is nothing to do, so we saw people of all ages playing cards, as a last resort to stay occupied. Quite funny really because my partner and I also gave in and bought a pack of cards for the evenings!

Overall this hotel presented us with a relaxing week away for lounging by the pool or beach in a beautiful location, but we agreed we would probably not go back, purely because of aspects that did not suit us as a couple. The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained, the staff friendly, it was just a little too remote, with too many small children for us.

Hi - Just back from thomson booked week at this hotel. As an independent traveller - i've always avoided booking a 'package' but having a 15 month old daughter we opted for an all inclusive package the lti louis grand. I was very impressed - generally the clientele are in their 50's/60's with a few young families but it made for a very peaceful and relaxing holiday. The beach is fabulous and the hotel is great - really nicely designed pool and lots of shady places to lounge. The food is really excellent and available all the time. Evening entertainment is very very low key (this was my fear!) and easily avoided if you want to. Weather great - hot enough for sunbathing but not too hot - great for young kids. Hotel is bit isolated - need hire car to explore island (which is stunning in the north) but there's a courtesy bus which goes into corfu town (well worth doing!). enjoy your holiday.

Room Tip: pay extra for a sea view...x
