We came here on our honeymoon in the first week of September 2011 with our two year old son for 1 week. For me, the best things about this holiday were the gorgeous beach (which is right on your doorstep - we could see it from our room!) and the large variety of food.
CHECK IN was quick and easy which is what we needed with a tired two year old! Our room was on the ground floor facing the beach so we were lucky, some rooms are facing others. I think ours has now been refurbished and have a swim up pool outside of them. There was a bottle of red wine and a bowl of fruit waiting for us. Our room was clean and comfortable, we had plenty of room for the three of us. The shower was good (which is over the bath). Plenty of wardrobe space. Fridge was very small. Cleaner came in daily but I would have liked to have seen the floors being cleaned properly everyday - we brought a lot of sand in which became uncomfortable!
THE POOL AREA was ok, there was a bad smell near the children's pool but it wasn't too unbearable. There were daily activities in the pool which people enjoyed. We came at a quieter time and the sun loungers round the pool went quickly but we did always manage to get one fairly quickly, some people would leave their towels on them which was annoying!
THE BEACH was gorgeous! The sea is completely clear and so warm! You can hire boats which we did a few times - you can really take in the beauty of the place. We never struggled for a place to relax on it.
THE FOOD is fantastic, plenty of choice. All cutlery and plates etc. Were spotless. There really was something for everyone. Breakfast is in the main restaurant, lunch is buffet outside right in front of the beach. The only bad thing about that was the wasps! All sorts to eat - salads, burgers, lots of cooked meat, pasta, fruit, chips... The desserts they have are very good, so many - the bread and butter pudding is to die for! The main restaurant is very spacious, there are tables outside looking out over the sea which was lovely. There is an a la carte restaurant which you book in advance (and make sure you don't forget to do this as they get booked up quickly!) Food was nice there although I really would have liked to have waiter service in there even for an extra charge so that it wasn't all buffet food in the hotel!! Something I noticed was that the drinks seem very watered down in the restaurants and at the bars. There is a very nice bar upstairs next to the main restaurant, we enjoyed a drink in there before going for dinner and a beach bar in perfect reach when you're sunbathing or in the pool.
THE LOCATION of the hotel felt too isolated for us. We didn't have a car though which I think is a must here. We would have liked to have been able to go for a walk at night outside the hotel to see different places but it really did feel like it is in the middle of no-where! Corfu town is about a 45 minute drive I think, and there is a free bus that you book in advance going into town from right outside the hotel everyday but I would definitely recommend hiring a car for a holiday here. The town kept us busy all day when we went there, so much to do and explore it's definitely worth the drive. There is a few shops round the hotel that sell essentials, magazines and souveniers etc.
All in all a very enjoyable honeymoon and family holiday.
