“A (nearly) Perfect Holiday”
Reviewed 30 June 2012

We booked this holiday many months ago and had been looking forward to our first visit to Corfu. We were not disappointed. We arrived at the hotel after a short transfer, checked in and went to our first lunch whilst our romm was made ready. The Concierge to care of our luggage and we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of food on offer. The room was exactly as we booked, a suite with balcony and sea view. Everything about this hotel screams "professional" and this was borne out by the quality of food which had many variations of cultures and countries including a fabulous English Apple Pie with Vanilla sauce, the very best rice pudding with cinnamon! There was such a variety of high quality of food that it was sometimes very difficult to decide which to have. We mostly had a little bit of everything. All the staff worked very, very hard at making your experience as good as possible and were unstintingly friendly, particularly if you could at least say "Kalimera" - Good morning, "Kalispera" - Good afternoon, "Kalinichta" - Good night, "Parakalo" - Please, "Efkaristo" - Thank you, "Yammas" - Cheers or "Yassas" - Hi.
The setting is as close to perfect as you can get..long sandy beach gently shelving, perfectly clear sea with brightly coloured fish in attendance at your feet, watersports if you want to be frightened out of your wits with the banana ride or parascending, and a lovely descent from the mountains via a winding road through the beautiful countryside.
The hotel offers two free trips to Corfu town via Aqualand per day and there is a twice daily public bus from just up the road.
The cleanliness of our room was good but there were some dust issues under the bed, however, the staff left a litre bottle of water in the fridge, every day.
The TV has three UK channels, ITV, BBC and some strange programme that is obviously originally German but dubbed into English..wierd.
We were staying during the European Football Championship (15th to 29th June 2012) and there was a lot of friendly banter between the various nationalities on holiday. The two main nationalities were German and UK and everyone got on well. If you wanted a bed by the pool or in a particularly favourable spot on the beach, then you had to play the game of being the first one up and getting your towel down there. This is the same in any resort or holiday I have ever been on and if anyone from the UK says they don't actually do it themselves, they are telling porkies!!!
Corfu town is absolutely superb, I could live there very happily. It has the faded charm of a Naples, the warmth that only the Corfiot's can bring to you, an excitement that is highly addictive and a culture that is steeped in history.
Like I have said A (nearly) Perfect Holiday..we will be re-booking.

Room Tip: Rooms on third floor are best - guaranteed seaview

Not cheap but seriously the best value for money. Food excellent, clean, good entertainment team and to be honest it would take me foever to list the good points. The only thing I would say is that wine and beer are not directly accessible by the guests, you have to go to the bar. That is the ONLY down side.
As a guide, quite a few Germans who in my mind demand a better service were staying at the hotel. Would I go again - definitely 100%

we went all incl with thompson on 22/6/12-29/6/12 from birmingham (saved £300 as opposed to flying from Cardiff)!! parking at airparks, about 20 mins away. good system, all ran smoothly. book ahead to save money.
the overall experience was excellent. great hotel and location, almost on it`s own on a sandy beach. a few shops and some apartments but that`s it. quite isolated but if you want a quiet hol, then that`s ok. (free courtesy bus to corfu town twice a day if you want a busier day).
rooms are spacious and well equipped with fridge, a/c, hair dryer, kettle, cups etc, and a bottle of red wine there on arrival is a nice touch). there is a safe, but it is €3.50 per day. i can never understand why they have to charge extra for an essential, but that`s life), balcony off each room, but half overlook the cliffs at the front of the hotel, the other half toward the beach and pool.
food is good and lots of variety each day, which are all themed italian, mexican, greek, international days etc, but there are always alternatives, and a children`s corner with more basic food incl chips. one free visit per week to the tai restaurant in the hotel included, but we found the selection in there basic, but acceptable.
the beach is clean, and well laid out with free sunbeds and unbrellas, as is the spacious pool, which has a small childs pool seperate. the sea is clear and usually very calm, so you can easily see fish as soon as you are about 2 feet deep.
there are water sports like speed boat hire, para sailing, pedal boats, banana etc, but these are quite expensive, eg 1 hour speed boat hire is €40 but they add 10 for fuel? (should just charge €50 and be up front about it). we saw speed boat hire on mainland greece on a trip we went on for €20 per hour or 40 for half a day). there are the usual activities like archery, pool aerobics, water pole and beach volleyball each day which are good, a childs disco (starting at 2115 for 20 mins), and then some entertainment, which is average at best, (movie quiz, monuments around the world quizare examples for 2 of the nights)?
we went on Theo`s blue lagoon boat trip fot €45 each on one day, booked through thomson. the boat was Very crowded when we arrived on the coach, and to our amazement, ANOTHER coach pulled up, and off loaded about another 50! the drinks are all charged for, even soft drinks. then theo asks €10 each for bbq food, which he stated as chicken breast and sausage, salad etc and drinks incl wine or soft drinks. the reality was a processed chicken burger, (very poor quality), one sausage, and tomato and coleslaw. max €5 worth, or even thrown in with the boat trip price would be better, and not even enough elbow room to eat it. having said all that, the trip itself was good. about 2 hours to the blue lagoon, (main land greece), 1hr 40 stop to snorkel, (deep water so non-swimmers could not get off the boat), in a gorgeous bay, then onto a small village for an hour, and onto a 2nd snorkelling bay, where non swimmers good get off onto a sandy beach, and VERY warm water. 2 hour trip back, then returned to the hotel. most of this detail is not explained in the thomson brochure given to us at the welcome brief, ie 2 hours each way, non swimmers stuck on boat for 3.5 hours, and the quality of the food. back to the hotel. a long and fairly expensive day, (i think theo is about to retire, but he does the trip 7 days a week and is always full. €55 incl food x about 100 people. you do the maths). some would say good luck, some would say he is being greedy packing so many on.
the all incl drinks selection is very good, wines shorts, cocktails, lager etc, and very generous shots, the "glyfada special cocktail" is definately worth trying, but dont be put off by the dark green colour.
overall, the hol was excellent, and we will prob return in a year or two, so highly recommended.

Room Tip: we asked for beach/pool view, but we didnt get one. i think you can pay more to guarentee these. th...

Dear guest,

Let us express our gratitude at your stay at the Lti Louis Grand and for posting your comment on the internet.

We are very glad that we could indulge your appetite with our great variety of food from all around the world, that you note our kid's corner with children's favorites. We appreciate your note about the variety of activities our animation team arranged for the guests, and about the All Inclusive package. About the safe, please understand, that in order to reduce the price for our All Inclusive package we decided not to include the safe in it, this is because not many guests make use of it.

It is a delight to hear that your overall experience at our hotel was excellent, and we will be waiting to welcome you again at the Lti Louis Grand in the nearest future.

Kind regards,

I have just arrived back from the Louis grand in Corfu, and dont have a bad word to say about it. the staff were excellent, surroundings were perfect and hotel food and location are second to none.

I also must agree with a previous comment I saw, with regards to sunbeds. I feel that it is totally acceptable for a large family to sit together if they so wish, and don't have any problems with them reserving beds together. In fact it was refreshing to see such families together in this day and age, that all seem to be getting along so well. I would urge the hotel not to change this policy at all as there were plenty of sunbeds for all, even if it meant you had to, god forbid walk an extra 2 steps to the pool!!!

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough and would urge anybody who is thinking about it to book immediately, you won't be disappointed.

This hotel was amazing. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was lovely, and the hotel grounds were stunnung.

Some reviews below have commented on an issue with regards to sunbeds being reserved very early, in my experience this is generally the rule of thumb across most hotels, and if you want a prime spot then you have to get up early enough to snatch them. Large parties are going to want to sit togehther so if they've got up early enough to grab the best beds then good for them.

I wont hear a bad word said about this hotel.

We have just returned from the Louis Grand after having a lovely weeks holiday there. The hotel is immaculate and has so many seating areas with comfy furniture to escape to when the heat of the sun gets too much.
The food was very good with lots of choices, the staff friendly, especially at reception.
The beach was very nice but you have to pay for a sunbed on it, so most of the time we spent in the shaded areas of the pool (a lot of sunbeds had towels on them with no one around from very early in the morning - so a lot of the best spaces were gone by 9 am, when the 'owners' arrived they usually spoke German - funny that!!!!)
I agree that the hotel is somewhat remote but it is in a beautiful spot, the scenery is wonderful. We took a taxi into Paleokastritsa - the driver was called Nikos (highly recommended) and another day took the Pargo/Paxos excursion which was well worth the money.
All in all it was a great holiday the only thing I would say that around the pool a bit of (not too loud) music would be nice..

Room Tip: We were on the 6th floor and had a lovely view, our friends had a room at the back and they really l...
