Description: A lovely village pub with a friendly, bright atmosphere; full of character that we hope to enhance and perfect. Dog friendly. We have a large beer garden and a small children's playing area. We offer a range of cask conditioned ales, popular lagers, and beers. Also a variety of wines and spirits are available. Unfortunately for the moment the kitchen is under maintenance, but we will soon offer homemade lunchtime and evening meals.

We used a groupon voucher for Sunday lunch. Great value. Food was nice and potions fair. Nice couple running the place. Overall I would recommend a trip her if in the local area.

“Food unappetising”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2013

Had Sunday lunch with a Groupon voucher, it was not worth travelling for.Food was tasteless and small portions, just a choice of two desserts. Apple sponge and tinned custard was bland and my friend complained. Had another meal when got home.

“Only okay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2013

We had Sunday lunch here using a Groupon voucher which was good value however if we had paid full price we would have been very disappointed. Food was nice, well cooked and presented but small portions and we found the pub a bit 'clicky' which I suppose you expect from a village pub where the locals are regulars. We didn't feel a warm welcome on our arrival even though they didn't appear to be that busy. Service was good but pub a bit shabby, tired looking and lacking atmosphere.

“Fox & Hounds is dog friendly!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2013

This is a great local and dogs are allowed – welcomed even – except around mealtimes. My understanding is that this is because some customers have objected in the past. Our labrador has no trouble working the crowds for pork scratchings outside mealtimes – he was down there this afternoon doing just that. Other regular dogs include Ruby, Blue, Boots, Guinness and the terrible twins Alfie and Archie. Sunday lunch is particularly busy at the moment, due to a recent Groupon deal, but has been growing in popularity for the past year. My theory on that is the Fox is one of the few pubs locally where you can get decent roast chicken alongside pork, beef, etc. And the food is also all home cooked.

“Fine but lacking atmosphere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

Had Sunday lunch here using a Groupon voucher which was very good value. The meal was fine and portions large. The staff were very friendly, but the whole place looks somewhat tired and it felt cold and not at all cosy. OK if you just want a quick, good value, basic Sunday roast at the end of a walk - but as our walks usually involve our dog, and dogs are banned, we probably won't rush back.
