We have just returned from a wonderful night away at The Old Inn, Drewsteignton. After a bracing walk on Dartmoor the warm welcome from Andrea (and dogs) with generous tea and cakes by the fire got us off to a great start. Our room was a crisply clean and peaceful retreat. The evening meal was every bit as memorable as our foody friends had recommended it would be. Every dish had a little creative 'something extra' that lifted it into a league of its own. The wine was an equal treat. Breakfast almost defeated us in its generosity. Absolutely create an opportunity to visit. It is worth it!

Have just returned from The Old Inn after 4 nights of amazing hospitality. My review of May 2012 holds firm and cannot be added to. Thank you Anthea and Duncan - just the best place to spend our 42nd wedding anniversary. Cuddles to the dogs.

Stayed one night before travelling on to our next destination. We arrived to an excellent welcome from Andrea and Duncan plus the lovely two dogs. We were in Room 5 which is a lovely room with views over the pretty village and the surrounding courtside. In the afternoon we visited Castle Drago and the pretty town of Chagford. We were looking forward to our meal in the evening especially because we know that Duncan trained under Shaun Hill from the Walnut tree inn where we eat on a regular basis We were not disappointed and I am sure he will achieve a Michelin star like Shaun. We enjoyed the little extra touches of our visit like the tea and the beautiful cakes when we arrived back in the afternoon and the tea and croissants delivered to our bedroom in the morning.

We wish we could have stayed more than the one night we did. We went on beautiful walks one of them from the doorstep and loved having a cosy welcoming Inn and delicious food to come back to. It's so easy to warm to Anthea and Duncan and their two dogs, Teign and Tyne. We still have the gorgeous scenery and warmth of our stay at the back of our minds although are back to the daily grind in London.

Thank you to you both for another fantasic stay at The Old Inn, Anthea you are real treasure, you go out of your way to make our stay a real pleasure,we never feel like we want to leave.

Duncan what can I say apart from your food is so mouth watering delicious, the tastes are delicate but powerful that you don't want the experience to end,and as for your souffle they are to die for.

Looking forward and very excited to experience your New Years Eve Menu all those tastes I can't wait, and of course to see you both along with Erf,Mr T,and Soxs.

We stayed one night at The Old Inn at the end of June and had a fantastic experience. We received a friendly welcome on arrival from humans and dogs alike and shown to the room which was clean and comfortable if not spectacular. What was spectacular though was the dinner which was worthy of a michelin star as other reviewers have suggested. Between us we had six flawless courses and I had the good fortune to have two of the superb scallop amuse bouches as my wife is allergic to seafood.
Coffee and pastries were delivered to the room in the morning and the croissant and pain au chocolate were the best I've had in the UK.
If i was nitpicking then a couple of shelves in the bathroom and shower would be handy and although the coffee tray arrived when we asked for it we had already been awake for an hour by then and so coffee making facilities in the room would have been useful.
Also if you don't like dogs then you may want to think twice about coming here as this is their home and they, and the world's most laid back cat, are a central part of the experience.
i wouldn't hesitate for a moment to come back here again.

Just returned from three day stay at the Old Inn following a week's holiday in Cornwall plus one day stay on our journey down. Missing you already and cuddles with dogs and Socks. Thank you Anthea and Duncan for looking after us so well, for suggesting the walk to Castle Drogo and instructions on how to get there which gave us one of the best days of our holiday. Anthea, you are an amazing hostess and Duncan you are a true artist in the kitchen. Hope the dogs are not missing their 'treats' too much - I did rather indulge them didn't I?
