My wife and I stayed here on the 2nd week of our anniversary vacation this summer. The B&B was recommended to us by a friend and it was everything we had hoped for. The rooms were clean and well maintained. We stayed in the 4 Kings with the shower bath, and comfortable double bed. The little details made the visit the best. The high end coffee/espresso maker in the room, the quality of the linens, the cleanliness of the room, and amazingly fast WiFi. All of these things made of a great stay. What made it exceptional was the staff and the quality of the restaurant that is led by owner, Nick Bonner. Nick was amazing, personally serving us our English style breakfast each day, His wonderful attitude and flawless dishes made breakfast something to truly look forward to. However, with all our travels through the country side, and visits to London, we missed two nights dinner in their restaurant. Those were nights we missed out.... The food at the Red Lion was delicious. The sauces and spicing superb. Their puddings were also wonderful, The personalized treatment from the staff was exceptional. They truly went out of their way to make our visit something to remember. We will be visiting them again in the future and look forward to it. I highly recommend the Red Lion and believe that this is not a fluke, that they know what they are doing! Kudos Nick, Will, Matt and the rest of the staff of the Red Lion. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Room Tip: The 4 Lions was where we stayed, but we peeked in to the Cherry Blossom and would choose that one ju...

We stayed here for the night whilst visiting friends, but also ate here. We had the Cherry Blossom room which was fine bed was a king size and comfy but other rooms are only double so check if you want a king. We booked ate and so friends ended up in double (they have a big bed at home) and struggled to sleep but all our fault. Atmosphere great and food lovely. Breakfast really nice and staff excellent. Village nice and quiet and a good time was had by all. Recommend the stilton, beetroot and walnut salad for starter.

Stopped off for lunch with work colleagues as we were driving - found this charming pub in a picturesque village. The food is michelin star but with a affordable price tag. This is a must visit if you are in the area. The steak and Fish cakes are a highlight!

The people who run this place really know what they are doing. I have been stopping here, on and off, for over 25 years and always thought its a fantastic relaxed pub with nice dining rooms and gardens. The old gentleman who used to run it always had good food and I remember the mixed cold meat platter, which was very nice on a summer evening with a nice pint! The rooms upstairs always slightly let it down, but I used to let that go.

Now the clean rooms have been refurbished, with nice bathrooms, comfortable beds, Illy espresso machines and nice furnishings. Free wifi throughout the place as well.
The bar is welcoming with some great real ales. The wine list is excellent and keenly priced. I especially liked the addition of the Musar on the list (hope they decant it), although the cheapest Cabernet was also excellent easy drinking.
The food is of a very high standard. They have the 'Hawksmoor at Home' book in the lounge and you can almost see the influence in the menu. The well aged steak was beautifully cooked and the sides were perfect. I personally prefer a nice white plate to the wooden boards they use to serve the food, but its a small gripe.
I also liked the friendly staff who checked everything was ok in a polite way.
Breakfast was a treat. Yogurt, honey and fresh fruit waiting, followed by perfect scrambled eggs and bacon.

The owners and staff are obviously very thoughtful about the service they provide and it shows. One of the nicest places I have stayed on business and I stop in a lot!

We stayed here for the night, meeting up with friends for a catch up. From the moment we arrived the friendly ambience was evident as was the very clean surroundings. I have to highlight Jo who went above and beyond in delivering the WOW factor as I had virtually run out of petrol and he secured a petrol can and stopped en route to work the next day to fill it for us and then due to Ford's security system on their fuel tanks ended up helping us with a hose pipe and funnel in order to actually get the fuel into the tank - Jo I will always be indebted - thank you!!!! The food was a high quality both in menu choice and flavour combinations and we would definitely come back here and recommend to anyone!!!

Stayed here for two nights whilst visiting friends. It's a beautiful, quirky hotel. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. I loved the peace and quiet and slept really well on the super comfortable bed. We ate in the restaurant on Saturday evening and whilst the restaurant was full it did not detract from the level of service. The parsnip soup is highly recommended as was the pate and beef roll. The belly of pork main course was delicious as was the beef in red wine. My husband chose fish and chips which he found delicious and plentiful. The same quality of food maintains at breakfast.
This is a great hotel and it's proximity to so many interesting places will certainly ensure that we will return. Thanks for a great stay and excellent service

We stayed for a night dinner bed and breakfast for wedding anniversary. I eat the beetroot with goats cheese followed by the tomato arancini then banana fool. The vegetarian menu was well thought through, varied and very tasty. This makes a pleasing change as many restaurants leave it as an afterthought. My husband had the prawns followed by the slow cooked red wine beef which he said melted in his mouth then the rice pudding. We each had a drink and the bill came to £65 which was good value for the high standard of food. We stayed in the pigeon loft room which had a roll top bath and great character. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. Breakfast the next morning was lovely fruit and yoghurt followed by full English or veggie option with toast and cereal if you could fit it in! Would definitely visit again and recommend to friends.
