Finally under new ownership.. I am delighted to return to the Beautiful Beresford Arms. John and Brenda Simm ( formerly of The Waggon Inn) along with their hard working son Matthew have given this pub, restaurant and the whole village a long awaited new lease of life...
Friday evening, the bar which offers a great selection of well kept real ales and super chilled wines ( Sauvignon blanc for me please)..was packed with happy, welcoming village folk, tourists ( The Beresford offers B&B )..and many familiar faces from the Waggon Inn too... A great place to end the day or start the weekend in this relaxed and social atmosphere...a fabulously sunny evening.. Many enjoyed their drinks at tables outside...
Sunday, we celebrated my mothers birthday with a fabulously delicious traditional Sunday lunch for fourteen family members in The Beresford restaurant... Having preordered drinks for arrival and at the table... Super efficient ( and vigilant) Brenda made sure everything ran like clockwork.... our perfectly chilled bottles of Prosecco along with chilled glasses ( a great touch) were presented to greet my family members as they arrived from near and far...The dining table was ready and waiting and beautifully decorated ... There was no pressure for us to hurry and be seated... We relaxed and caught up on family gossip before we took our table..... Waiting staff were very pleasant and service was incredibly prompt... Essential when dining with young children! Lunch was deliciously fresh and well presented... Roasts of beef and pork were tender, plentiful roast potatoes, generous gravy, homemade Yorkshire puddings and perfectly cooked vegetables... Those of us who could not resist pudding can highly recommend the apple crumble with custard and the strawberry and rhubarb cheesecake..the younger children were delighted with their 'diddypots' of Doddingtins ice cream.
We rounded off our afternoon with coffee outside on the lawn in order to fully appreciate the beautiful setting on this perfect Northumberland summer afternoon...
I cannot thank John, Brenda and Matthew enough for their wonderful hospitality....
Please pay a visit to the Beresford Arms.... And make it soon!

We feel it's really important to do whatever we can do to ensure that customers leave fully satisfied, whether they've come in just for a refreshing glass of Pinot Grigio (in an ice cold glass of course) a lovely Italian coffee or a celebration dinner - the experience should be positive. We work hard at getting the preparation right as well as the delivery, so it's lovely to read a detailed review which mentions all of these things. A special occasion is just that - you don't get an opportunity to rewind and replay - it's important to get it right first time. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this very informative review.

Went for a meal at the Beresford Arms last night. It was such a warm and friendly atmosphere and the place was buzzing. I haven't seen it like that for years! The new owners are just fabulous - you couldn't ask for more from landlord and landlady and they have got a great team of waiting staff. The food was good and we had an enjoyable evening. It's so lovely to see this pub full again. It has so much potential and hopefully the new landlords will give it a new lease of life.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. We have worked hard to create what we feel is the right environment for our customers. As regular customers know, we are a family run business so customers comments are very important to us. We are always happy to hear how we can further improve things too, so we never rest on our laurels! It's great to hear the buzz !! Thank you for taking the time to write your review!

My Dad and I were really excited to visit the Beresford Arms having been regulars at the Waggon Inn and we weren't disappointed. There is loads of parking available and the pub is easy for my elderly father to access. The food was amazing, smaller portions available for older folk and a really good choice. I could have literally chosen anything from the menu. Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Good choice of real ales and the Sauvignon Blanc is lovely. Shame I had the car because I could have easily polished off another glass.

We had such a lovely meal. It's rare to find a traditional, family run pub today and we look forward to returning very soon.

As readers will see, we have recently moved from The Waggon Inn at Ponteland, so it's great to read a review from customers who have followed us here to the Beresford confirming that the quality of the food, drink and service has not been affected. We brought our chefs, staff etc.. with us so it's basically just the setting that has changed and as this reviewer mentioned I'm sure people won't be disappointed with the location as it's so beautiful here in Whalton village! Thank you so much for all of your positive comments.

We visited the newly opened Beresford Arms in Whalton this last weekend and were made very welcome by the friendly, polite and very professional family owners.
They offer a great choice of reasonably priced real ales and wines served in a relaxing atmosphere.
An excellent traditional English pub located in the heart a lovely village.
Would certainly recommend The Beresford Arms and will be returning again soon.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review. It's particularly nice to have our wines and ales mentioned as we work just as hard on this side of things to ensure that we do everything possible to keep our products in tip top condition! It's been lovely to see so many customers enjoying their drink outside in the sunshine, taking in the beautiful surroundings of Whalton village.

We took over the Beresford and opened on 28th April 2014, unfortunately, as other reviewers have mentioned, we had to have a lot of work done on the kitchen so we were unable to open until 26 May for food. Unfortunately, our predecessors took the phone number with them and they're using it as a broadband line, therefore it just rings out. Our new number is 01670 775273. Sincere apologies to everyone who has been trying to contact us - it's taken us some time to change the number on everything electronic, but thank you all for persevering in trying to find us !!
