My wife and I stayed at the Rookery for a Spa Break to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. From the moment we arrived the staff were helpful and friendly. We booked the Romantic Spa Package which includes lunch, Dinner and Breakfast plus a 60min treatment in the Spa.
We went to the Spa to be greeted by Rebecca and her staff who were most helpful and we were shown around the Spa, which has an area for your lunch and great facilities.
After trying out various chairs, beds and Hydro-pool we both had massages as part of the package and we both agreed it was worth it.
We were supposed to get a bottle of Champagne on arrival which I thought would be in our hotel room, however we were supposed to get this at the Spa which we didn't so Rebecca arranged for our Champagne to be put on our Dinner table in the evening and also arranged for an upgrade to a better room with a spa-bath.
When we went for Dinner the Champagne was waiting on the table in an Ice bucket and we had an enjoyable meal with very good food.
Breakfast the next day was also good, where you help yourself to cereals, fruit, juices and tea and coffee whilst your Full English is being cooked.
Rookery Manor would be a wonderful place to get married, at as the gardens and the setting are great, unfortunately it was raining when we were there so couldn't sit in these lovely gardens.
Overall we had a very good time and the staff went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves, well worth a visit.

Room Tip: The rooms in the Manor house have some of the best views over the gardens

We were taking teenage girls to the T4 on the beach concert and needed a hotel near to Weston Super Mare. Because we booked fairly late choice was somewhat limited but we were encouraged by this hotel's 4 star rating and its claim to be an "award winning" boutique hotel.
We were disappointed.
We booked 2 rooms billed as junior suites. They were clearly attic conversions and the en suite shower rooms were like dark broom cupboards - no good for my partner at 6 foot 5! The actual bedrooms were comfortable enough but were not junior suites. The girls' room was stifling- it did not have air con although ours did. Very strange as they were next door to each other and cost the same.
My partner had a shower on the second evening - a member of staff attended the room minutes later as the shower had leaked into the room below and he wanted to take a look. Rather embarrassing for all concerned.
Breakfast was an average affair to say the least. You have to serve yourself tea and coffee from an urn and a percolator. It is all set out close to reception. I would term it as a "bun fight".
The restaurant was shut on both nights we were there - a Saturday and a Sunday- as there were weddings on in the function rooms. Bizarre.
The only good thing I would say about this hotel is that the staff are polite and friendly.
We would not stay here again I am afraid

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 24 and 25

I was recently in the UK from America on business. One of my clients/customers arranged for us to have our meeting and lunch at the Rookery at a time that was mutually convenient for both of our schedules.
I have been in the UK many times over the past 20 years and so have sampled many restaurants, eateries and hotels. I can honestly say that the meal served at the Rookery was easily one of the best I've ever had in all my travels. The food was superbly prepared and presented and the staff was courteous and friendly, including the managing director who personally stopped by to make sure all was in order for a 3 person lunch! The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and immaculately kept. A great experience; I will stay at this hotel the next time I am in the Bristol area.

Stayed for 2 nights in a "junior suite" - which was essentially a double room. We phoned several days ahead of our stay to see whether we could get breakfast a little earlier as we had commitments early morning elsewhere, but this was not possible. To which we then replied that we'd then enjoy a nice meal in the restaurant instead as we wouldn't be able to have breakfast. We pre-arranged that we'd be checking in around 20.30, which they said was not a problem. This was supposed to be a relaxing, romantic break away.

On arrival, the waiting staff in the restaurant checked us in. Knowing that last orders at their restaurant was 21.15, our plan had been to dump our bags and come straight to the restaurant for dinner, relax with a nice bottle of wine and some good food. The waiting staff said that there was a private party and that the restaurant was therefore closed. On asking whether there was anywhere nearby to have dinner (given that it was by now ~20.45), the staff firstly asked whether we were from around here. Err no, else we wouldn't be staying here! He proceeded to give us convoluted directions to a pub where he'd had lunch that day.

Disappointed that we couldn't have dinner at the Rookery on the Friday, we decided to book into the restaurant for the Saturday night - however the restaurant was closed then too. At least we found this out on the Friday evening. When we had phoned up to enquire about the possibilty of having breakfast a little earlier, they must have known that the restaurant was closed on both nights we were staying there.

The room was basically a standard double - we've stayed in standard and deluxe doubles at 3* hotels that were better than this. Certainly not a junior suite standard! (We regularly stay at hotels and B&Bs for both work commitments and weekends away. I organise venue sourcing for meetings/courses regularly for work and my industry, so have stayed in a fair few places.) Wi-Fi throughout the hotel? No signal at all in our accommodation block. No phone, no aircon in the rooms, and no window to open. We were on the ground floor, and the only way to get some fresh air was to open the French windows. The room was really hot and until bedtime we kept the doors open to try and cool the room down. If only you could have had the door ajar on a latch to get some fresh air, we would have. The door was either shut or wide open.

On the Friday night, after trying to find the pub the waiting staff had mentioned, and knowing that we were running out of time before places would stop serving food, we headed straight into Weston-super-Mare and had dinner.

On the Saturday night, knowing that there wasn't anywhere within walking distance to go and have food, we went to the off licence, got a nice chilled bottle of wine and got a take away which we brought back to the hotel. Then came the fun of trying to find hotel staff to get a couple of plates and knives and forks. Reception was closed, and eventually we found some kitchen staff attending to the wedding taking place - which is presumably why the restaurant was closed on both nights of our stay.

On the plus side (the only plus side!), the bed was comfy and the shower was hot and powerful. Even though the hotel was a stone's throw from the M5, we were not disturbed by any traffic noise.

This place is basically a wedding factory at weekends. If you're not staying there as part of the wedding party, you fend for yourself. It is certainly not worth the money we spent and are very disappointed with our stay.

On checking out, the lady on reception didn't even ask whether we had enjoyed our stay - it was a transaction with money changing hands and that was all. We got the distinct impression that she was not of a level to have been able to rectify the situation or offer any form of discount. We walked out the door and immediately knew our experience of this place had to go on tripadvisor and booking.com to pre-warn other potential guests.

wedding brilliantly organised.
stayed over price charged did not reflect the fact that the quilt cover had holes in it, the floor of the room above creaked very badly enough to keep me awake, bed not to comfy, went to breakfast and asked if they had low fat spread all they could offer was butter so had to have toast dry. not good.
also very nearmotorway you can hear it when sat in gardens.

We stayed here as a stop-over on our way down to south Devon. We were looking for somewhere relaxing where we could spoil ourselves and indulge a little. We booked some treatments at the on-site spa and were not disappointed. The staff were fantastic - friendly, attentive and knowledgable and the facilities were first class.

This is quite obviously first and foremost a wedding venue. They have lovely grounds with numerous locations for photographs and I imagine when the sun is out would be a perfect setting for such events. It is however also a reasonably priced hotel with satisfactory rooms and good food.

Our room was perfectly adequate although I hope that before too long some maintenance would be carried out to the peeling paint and rusting towel rail in the bathroom. The room was a decent size but was not particularly well laid out. There was no dressing table as such and only one bedside table.

Over all we were satisfied with our visit and would definately stay again if we were in the area.

Room Tip: For good views, ask for a room in the manor house overlooking the lake.

Stayed for 3 nights - Room a bit small and cramped. We were in room number 9 an attic room so not for tall men or ladies. V comfy bed. Restauraunt food restricted choice but well cooked and presented - no fresh fish or seafood as advertised. All staff very friendly and helpful - nothing too much trouble for them - beautiful grounds and gardens despite the motorway traffic drone.

....

Room Tip: Dont choose the attic rooms.
