We visited Rookery Manor as part of a weekend away for our Wedding Anniversary. We paid £105 for our room inc breakfast.

As is now customary for our anniversary celebrations, hubby indulges in football and I head to the spa. We chose Rookery Manor for its location and Spa offering.

We arrived at just after 12, too early to check in but we were impressed with the beautiful grounds and how well kept the premises are. I had a spot of lunch in the Bistro/Bar area before heading to the spa.

The spa is superb, spotless and I had a wonderful time. Rebekah and her team are excellent and I felt thoroughly looked after. There's a gorgeous hydro pool, a sauna, massage chairs, an outdoor hot tub and a relaxation area. The Spa offers monthly specials for treatments. I had a Swedish back massage and mini facial for £49. Rachel was my therapist and she was great!

Our room was lovely! We stayed in 19 Pearl with a huge bathroom and a view of the beautiful garden. We were surprised that there was no wedding on, it being a Saturday in August, and it seemed quiet for the time of the year? Olympics?

We ate in Burnham on the Saturday evening at an Indian recommended by Rebekah from the spa! Best Indian we've had in a long long time!

Breakfast on Sunday morning was fine - self service tea, coffee and buffet pastries, fruit salad, yogurts, juice and cereal. Toast was brought to table and a cooked breakfast buffet was available too.

All in all a really enjoyable stay. I slept like a baby. Cannot recommend the spa highly enough!

I have just spent 6 wonderful hours in the spa at Rookery Manor.
The facilities were exactly as advertised and spotless.

All the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful.

I would recommend this day to anyone and will be going back.

Stayed overnight beginning of August for a wedding in the grounds. The hotel is beautiful and well kept - booked a twin room - which to be honest, was a little small but for the time we actually spent in it, it wasn't a problem. Friendly and helpful staff in the hotel reception (especially the evening chap who gave us some good advice about cabs etc), bar, breakfast room, Rose Room and evening room. Overall would recommend.

Very pretty grounds perfect for a wedding, very disappointed with room it was in the apex of one of the older buildings and the ceilings were sloping as you would expect and as my husband is 6ft it was a challenge.Nowhere to put suitcase except on bed, dusty bedside lamps shabby blinds on windows, no wifi signal rang to complain and was told theirs in reception was ok and suggested i try logging on outside which i did with success but i wanted to use my computer in the room, didn't discover until later in the evening tv did not work by then there was no one on reception, tried to use the hairdryer in bathroom in the morning and that didn't work.We had to keep the velux windows open to maximum through the night as the weather was so warm but kept awake by traffic noise from motorway. In the evening the meal in the Bistro was delicious and couldn't fault the staff but the breakfast was a disappointment, very average cereal selection, warm orange juice, milk jugs not filled up,not the fault of the one waiter who was run ragged who also served from buffet type breakfast area food tasted as if it had been kept warm for some time eggs were hard and nothing tasted very nice at all.I am not one to complain and i will always give a good review when deserved (check out my other reviews) But we will not be going back here :(

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 6 especially if you are over 5ft

As we arrived my wife and I discussed staying an extra night but, fortunately, the Rookery was fully booked. The room we had booked was described as a junior suite with balcony but was simply an attic conversion with just enough room for a bed and a small desk and was certainly not a junior suite. The bathroom was also small with a low sloping ceiling with the risk of concussion if you stod up too quickly, after using the toilet. As we were only staying for one night and it was late in the afternoon we decided to stay even though the room was very hot, we hoped it would cool down. Trying to plug a phone charger into the socket by the bed we found it was broken. Never mind, after an evening meal in the restaurant, we returned to the room and switched on the television but nothing happened. After checking the remote control, the on/off button on the television and plugging into a socket we knew worked we decided to phone reception to report the problem. The phone in the room did not work either!

My wife went to the reception to report this only to find that the day staff had left, there was no manager available and only two, young, inexperienced lads who were clearly out of their depth were in charge. I shudder to think what would have happened had there been a real emergency and would question the judgement of whoever left the pair in charge. After being unable to resolve the problem or replace the television (!) we were told that, in a hotel with only 18 guests that no other rooms were available as they were all reserved for a wedding on the Saturday. When we pressed the lad further, he eventually gave us a much nicer room at no additional charge. In the bathroom there was a rather large (unlocked) cupboard where all of the electrics for the building were house and looked to be very old with cartridge fuses, not circuit breakers or other safety devices and, with no evidence of current inspection labels for compliance with regulations. This is in breach of compliance with the law and eletrical regulations and could be dangerous if this has no additional protection, which I suspect is not in place as the supply was directly from a supply company energy meter. I would not stay at this hotel again, for my own personal safety , as well as comfort as it seems that mangement care little for individual guests and are only interested in organising weddings.

The spa was good and ruthlessly well run by a manager who was distraught when we arrived as extensive building works were taking place which she told us she had not been informed of. We were half expecting Basil Fawlty to put in an appearance. The only plus side was the rooms were very clean and the grounds (for weddings) were immaculately well kept, such a pity that the gardens are right next to the busy M5 motorway.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone else, avoid it at all costs, as when we were there the two lads were expected to run reception, staff the restaurant and deal with security and other problems. When we checked out, there was no mention of the problems or room change although the reception staff must have been aware that our room number was different. Management and Health and Safety are clearly an issue at this hotel and, if as it appears, that the electrical installation does not have a current inspection certificate or proper safety protection in place then it is potentialy very dangerous and is something that management need to address immediately. I would also ask why was the electrical cupboard in a bathroom unlocked with no warning notices attached. I have grave concerns about the installation as it does not appear to comply with current 17th edition wiring requirements.

Room Tip: Don't book a 'Junior Suite', better still, book somewhere else.

Contrary to the inaccurate and defamatory allegations in this review, we should like to reassure guests that Rookery Manor does have an electrical certificate and fuses are laid down and checked regularly by SWEB, in compliance with UK Health and Safety regulations.

I treated myself to a couple of nights away for a spa break and had a wonderful time. The spa itself is perfect and all of the staff are very professional, non-judgemental and genuinely keen to make sure you have the best day you can. I had a absolutely wonderful facial, manicure and pedicure with Rachel who was just lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and the day could not have been more relaxing: .I was upgraded to a lovely double room with baclony and could not have been more comfy. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and all of the team throughtout the hotel were very pleasant and helpful.

Stayed here for 2 nights, booked a month prior to arrival. Checked in on Saturday 30/06 at 4.30, nice reception & receptionist. She advised that both of the restaurants were shut all weekend because they had 2 big weddings, so we would have to drive 15 mins to get to the nearest town! (Like they wouldn't have known prior to booking to tell us that!)
She advised that use of the spa was included with our room although usually an extra £10 a day! Went to our room which was nicely decorated, although on closer inspection it wasn't all that clean, dust & a dead fly in the glasses, spider in room & hair in the drawers. By the time we went down to the spa it was 5.40, only to be told they were shutting at 6 so weren't allowed in and they are shut on a Sunday ! Great ! So we have paid £125 a night for a spa that we can't actually use!? They should make it cheaper on a Sunday due to the fact its not even open.

Anyway, drove 15 mins to Weston Super Mare managed to crashed the car & had to pay for parking. Absolute joke to go to a hotel that has no facilities available apart from a bog & bed.
English breakfast is £12.50 if not included in room, which is such a rip off, meat undercooked.

We didn't sleep well at all on the first night because the room was baking hot, only 2 massive french doors to the balcony but so close to next doors balcony we didnt want to leave open, and no window other than in bathroom.

THIS IS THE BIGGEST JOKE:
When we checked out on the Monday morning, we heard the receptionist who works in the spa speaking to the receptionist, and she advised that the spa was fully booked today by clients so no guests staying at the hote could use it !!!
So basically, if you stay somewhere else that actually has facilities and then come here for the day to use the spa, you will get higher priority over the people that paid to stay there!!!

I have written and complained.
NEVER AGAIN.
