We stayed at Rookery Manor for two nights in April 2014 whilst visiting the area. We stayed in the Silver room in the manor house. The room was very comfortable, clean and well presented with a lovely modern bathroom. The staff were attentive and very pleasant and deserve a special mention.
The hotel was convenient for visits to Weston Super Mare, Cheddar Gorge and The Clark's Outlet Village.
The dining room is a bit strange - very large and more like a function room. The evening menu was limited but the food was good. Breakfast was buffet style - but we ordered poached eggs and these were cooked for us.
If I was visiting the area again I would choose to stay here, especially as we got a good rate through booking.com

Room Tip: Try to stay in the manor house if possible

Booked a spa break here for 2 nights which included a treatment, breakfast on 2 days, dinner on the first evening and lunch on one of the days. We seemed to be the only guests at first and didn't really see anyone else except for one or two guests at mealtimes. The setting is lovely although quite close to the M5 so windows had to be shut to block out the noise. The room we had was cosy with a huge bathroom, but everything worked and it was cleaned while we were there. The dinner was very good, great service as well. Breakfast was OK, not much choice but that was probably because there were so few guests. When we went for lunch, we had to wait about 15 minutes for anyone to appear in the restaurant to give us a table and take our order, and our pannini took about half an hour to arrive but it was very good when it did come. The spa was lovely, gowns and flip flops and towels provided, but the sauna was a bit disappointing and after our treatment all there was to do was sit in the spa pool. However it was very relaxing and warm. Although we quite enjoyed it, I doubt we will go again. We paid £380 for 2 people for a 2 night break which seems overpriced.

attended a wedding here last friday, and must say was impressed with the location of this hotel for the wedding. We had access to our room on arrival at 10.30 am after a 4 hour journey, which was very welcome. This gave us time to relax before the wedding. Nice room in the annex buildings, it was up some steps, the room was on the small side but nice big bathroom. The room was very comfortable and had a nice view over the surronding countyside. Thr grounds outside the manor house were beautiful and lovley for the wedding photos, especially good as the sun came out. The breakfast was what you would expect. It was completley help yourself, even to tea coffee and had to make your own toast, which was rather disappointing for such a grand location. Still the food was very nice, and a good start to the day.

Ideal for a wedding, but feel for a short break is a bit isolated, although not far from Burnham on Sea, and not far to Bristol. Nice walks in the summer I would imagine.

All in all a lovley time was had by all.

Room Tip: Rooms in the annex are small but nice views over the countryside

Very disappointing, the website plus looking on booking.com looked just what we wanted, we paid for a spacious room, sadly two hours and three bedrooms later we were running out of time as needed to be at an appointment twenty miles away so accepted the room. although clean it was generally tired, the carpet rubbed, poorly fitted, broken wardrobe door. The duty manager had been employed three weeks earlier and had not seen the rooms we were given so apologised. I did suggest that perhaps he ought to check them out for himself. Breakfast was served in a function suite with a grand piano & sparkly ceiling very bizarre, my husband asked for two fried eggs to be told, no not today, he politely asked again and waitress said she would ask the chef but he was a very busy man ! Next morning I asked for a pastry but was told sorry they ran out twenty minutes earlier. All in all a very bizarre stay it became a comedy of errors thankfully we laughed all the way home but will not be returning or can in any way recommend .

Room Tip: When checking in check that you are not being given the old piggery building, my husband of 6ft4&quo...

We stayed at the Rookery Manor on a group on deal which included one night stay, spa access and a three course meal with a glass of bubbly.

All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. I read the few poor reviews on here when deciding to book the group and can confirm that 1) It is a sprawling hotel (manor house, cottages, conference suites, reception in what looks like a conservatory), (2) It is clearly aimed at the wedding market (3) yes you do need to book 72 hours in advance to access the spa and (4) the hotel is right bang next to the M5... however that in no way diminished the enjoyment of the stay and there are a lot of positives that can be said about the hotel.

All the staff we came into contact were friendly and helpful.
Checkin was easy.
We were given one of the 2 loft rooms in the main manor house. The manor house is impressive and well maintained. The loft room was modern, cosy, clean and in very good condition. It was perfect for us, however if either of us had been a few inches taller though it may have been uncomfortable though as the ceilings were not high.
The room also came with a very welcome private balcony overlooking the lovely gardens.
Yes you could also see the M5 running past the hotel from the balcony, but no big deal and there was no noise in the room once the balcony door had been shut.

Although we hadnt booked the spa in advance (our mistake - it is clearly written in the booking confirmation), we rang the Elemis spa up when we got to our room and they kindly fitted us in. And there followed a relaxed late afternoon using the hydro pool, sauna, hot tub etc. The staff couldnt have been more helpful and the place was spotless.

Dinner was good but wouldnt knock your socks off. It is served in the Iris suite which I would imagine doubles as a wedding reception room but it was well decorated in a marquee style, large and plenty of rooms between tables. There is also a bar and lounge area in the room as you enter.
The menu read well and interesting. We both went for the same choices throughout.
Started off with the Sardine Bruchetta which incurred a £2.50 surcharge each. It was tasty enough but it is something you could have done easily at home and really was blander than it should have been. The bruchetta didnt seem to have any garlic rubbed on it, no herbs just chopped tomatoes and a sardine on top. Pleasant enough but not really worthy of a surcharge in my opinion.
Main course saw us go for the flank steak served with the usual sides chips, mushrooms and tomato in a peppercrorn sauce. This again came with a surcharge which i would have understood before being served chunks of steak rather than a portion of steak, so did this steak double as braising steak being in used in other dishes? why serve it chopped?! My partner had to send hers back because it was cooked under. The steak itself was tasty but a little chewy. I did like the peppercorn sauce, rather than the usual creamy number you tend to get in restaurants this was just a red wine jus with peppercorns which would be my preference.
We were pretty full for dessert but tried a taster of their pistacchio mouse on rhubarb jelly. Not a bid sweet eater but it seemed pleasant enough.

Had a very comfy nights sleep followed by breckfast which was fine.

Plenty to see around this area, so may be back some time but would probably wait for a deal rather than pay full price here.
