We just returned from our second trip to BDC. What can I tell you, that you haven't already heard. Beautiful location, amazing wild life, delicious food, and wonderful people! One of, if not the most amazing places on earth. In addition to all the other wildlife, we saw a humpback whale breach, right in front of our boat, for a total of 4 times. WOW!!!!!! What a show!!!!! This was the most amazing thing, we have ever seen. Just when you think you've seen it all, a new siting of marine or animal life just blows you away!

On another note, I would like to take this time to thank Kim and Phil, for being such great hosts. Their main concern is to make sure every guest enjoys their stay at BDC. They certainly go all out to accommodate everyone's needs. No easy task, as everyone's needs differ. For example, we booked an early fishing trip in Puerto Jimenez, and wanted to leave BDC at 5:am in the morning. The drivers, at BDC, did not start work, for the day, until later. At 5:am sharp, there was Phil, with hot coffee and cinnamon rolls to drive us into town, personally. What a guy!!!! Thanks again Phil. I guess that's why guests return year after year. Oh! That reminds me, I need to make our reservation for next year.

Bosque del Cabo is a hidden gem in the OSA peninsula. It is an amazing place to stay when you want a mix of relaxation, nature, beach and activity. We stayed there for 8 days on our honeymoon.

Although the lodge is not directly on the beach, the walking trails to the beach are nice. They range in difficulty but are generally manageable. On the trails, we were happily surprised with creeks, waterfalls and wildlife.

The food in bosque del cabo is very good and healthy (mostly traditional costa rican food) We looked forward to every meal and were never disappointed.

The staff is ver friendly. The reception team did their best to organize our activities and day trips.

In summary, we couldn't have asked for a better honeymoon.

Bosque del Cabo was a superb site for the first half of our family vacation in Costa Rica. My husband and I brought 24 family members, aged 4 to 78, for a 6-day stay filled with many delights. Animal life on the property was abundant and accessible, including monkeys, toucans, and scarlet macaws. We enjoyed fantastic adventures, including tree climbing, waterfall repelling, visiting an animal sanctuary, seeing highly energetic and photogenic dolphins, great hiking, and a night walk to see glistening eyes. The food was excellent, healthy and varied, and the rooms were extremely comfortable (the grandkids loved the loft bedrooms and hammocks). The owners, Kim and Phil, and their great staff worked hard to ensure that our interests and needs were met. Added bonuses were the presentations by environmental groups about their efforts to conserve the Osa Peninsula’s cats, turtles and other animals; the artist who helped our grandchildren make wallets from recycled materials; the beach clean-up walk; and other opportunities to learn and give back as we traveled to this amazing area. Our family has taken many trips to remote corners of the earth, and our stay at Bosque certainly ranks as a unanimous favorite.

A few weeks ago I made my second trip down to Bosque Del Cabo with my other half who had not yet been.. From the beginning we were in love...It is an authentic drive to get to Bosque but along the way we stopped to see Howler monkeys swinging right on the side of the road in the trees. Bosque's staff was immediately there to greet us and make our check in, our meals, and our excursions completely accommodating. Every meal was an unbelievable, healthy, and delicious treat. Hands down some of the best food I've ever had in the country. Everything tasted fresh, the meals were prompt, and the choices were plenty. The landscaping and property are absolutely beautiful. Bosque gives you a chance experience Costa Rica the way you should while also being an eco-friendly lodge. There were so many options of hikes and adventures to do each day. You could never get bored at Bosque. (I suggest guided hikes, waterfall repelling, the animal sanctuary, and zip lining). We had sites of monkeys and toucans EVERYDAY here. The Owners and staff are beyond helpful and extremely nice making your trip almost like an open family. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. If you have not yet been to Bosque I strongly suggest it! Its a place I will return to over and over again.

Bosque del Cabo is on my top 5 list of hotels I want to go back to. It was wonderful in every way. The room (Lapa) was incredible. We had a deck with a view of the jungle and the ocean below. We spent hours sitting out there watching birds and occasionally monkeys. The pool was great and we mostly had it to ourselves. The bar featured lots of tropical cocktails. The food was spectacular. The dinner buffet has lots of well-prepared and interesting vegetables. It was nice to get healthy food that tasted good.

The service was amazing. My husband asked if they had flip-flops in the gift shop. They didn't, but they offered to call into town and have some sent out in the car that was coming later that day.

The thing that makes BDC so amazing is that they have miles of jungle and hiking trails for a very small number of people. If you've ever been unhappy about the crowds in the national parks in the US, this is the place for you. We rarely saw anyone else on the trails, had to share the pool, or heard noise from other cabins.

Although there were activities available, most of the people there were interested in the nature. They were quiet and respectful. Don't come here if you want rowdy nightlife or to see or be seen or do anything motorized. Do come if you want to enjoy solitude and luxury in the jungle.

First of all, dont get me wrong this is a fantastic lodge in an amazing location. As others have said with the hundreds of previous TA reviews, If you choose to stay here you will certainly see tons of wildlife, enjoy great food & great service, and get a fantastic Osa experience. The network of trails on the property, wildlife viewing (outside of Corcovado), and access to activities is most certainly unrivaled among Osa lodges.

We stayed 4 nights in the La Paz cabina and had a awesome time hiking the trails on the property and enjoying local activities (such as surfing with Pollo and Miguel's horseback riding tour).

My only complaint with BDC is that it seems to be becoming a victim of it's own success. After researching BDC at length, I was under the impression that BDC was a cozy, quaint nature lodge with some additional luxuries (such as a dipping pool and electricity in the cabinas). I assumed that BDC was going to be similar to other eco-lodges I had been to in the African and South American wilderness.

Immediately upon arriving at BDC you will find out that it is not a typical eco-lodge. What will strike you is that this place is just as much a 4-star resort as it is an eco-lodge. The formality of the staff, somewhat lavish communal areas, and extravagant dinners honestly reminded me a bit of a Cancun resort. All of these things are great and BDC is a fantastic place all around, but if you are expecting a wilderness experience in the Osa this will certainly bother you.

For example, during our stay BDC had a wedding party of roughly 30 people . The night of the reception the partying at the bar lasted until 4:00AM. Drunk people jumping in the pool, etc. Thankfully we were staying in one of the garden cabinas and could enjoy the sounds of the jungle. But, unfortunately If you were staying in one of the more expensive cabinas (nearby the bar) the awesome sounds of the waves would have undoubtedly been drowned out by partying. For me personally, any sort of disruption such as this would have been completely unacceptable when staying at a self-titled "nature lodge."

If you're looking for a great all-around lodge on the Osa with more luxury and tons of wildlife, you should stay here...you'll love it. If you're looking for a very quiet, more rustic lodge where you truly feel as though you are immersed in the Costa Rican rainforest BDC is probably not the place for you; maybe Carate. If you are looking for a little of both, I would definitely recommend BDC's La Paz cabina.
