Great information provided about the house and area from owners! Great price for the house and best amazing views and wild life. Saw 15 plus monkeys every morning while eating breakfast. However if you don't like the outdoors this is not the place for you b/c the house is open air in the rain forest with no air condition. This is exactly what we were looking for and loved every min feeling one with nature.

Our family -- me, my wife, and two children 17 and 12, -- traveled to Osa in Spring 2010 and spent a week at Casa Bambu. It was, without doubt or reservation, the most memorable family vacation we have had. The lodgings are simple, airy and clean. You awake in the moments before dawn to rolling calls of howler monkeys and spend the day in endless exploration, marvelling at the unconstrained flora and fauna that spills out all around you. Be careful of making plans because you'll find them wasted: everything you came for is right here. One practical tip, probably mentioned by other reviewers: load up your car with as much ice and groceries as you can carry on your way in from Puerto Jimenez. Most family members won't want to suffer that ride (or its "quaint" bridges) more than is necessary.

Superlative adjectives only begin to describe how special casa bambu is. Our family spent 2 weeks there and loved every moment of our time there. We travel a lot (in fact just got back from a year traveling with our 2 sons aged 12,10) and we havent found a better place. We never like to go back to the same place (the world is wide and lots to see haha) but we are definently coming back to casa bambu. Location, simplicity, wildlife, activity, staff all top notch.
In fact we have sent 5 different groups to casa bambu and everyone of them have raved about it.

We stayed at Casa Bambu in 2010 and it was a dream. Lyn and Kirk are fabulous hosts and the stresses of the real world melt away on that private beach. The cost was more than reasonable and the wildlife extraordinary.

No cell phones and no tv's, nothing but beach, booze and solitude with your favorite people.

Thanks for the review! One small correction: for better or worse, now we have 3G phone reception, as well as an Internet connection! But don't worry, you don't have to tell the people back at the office.

I stayed at Casa Bambu twice in 2011. A week at the end of January and 18 days in December, so I guess I like the place. It has three great attributes - location, character and people. I travel extensively world-wide for my job. Every continent except Antartica. I have stayed nowhere else where I could see and hear so much nature pass by my porch. All four Costa Rican monkeys, toucans, macaws, green parrots, hummingbirds, lizards, dolphins to name but a few. The house is different. I've seen houses constructed elsewhere in the world but Casa Bambu and its three sister properties are different. A combination of bamboo, Costa Rican hardwood and green technology. No glass, just shutters raised by winch and pulley. Solar panel powered electricity that we found to be ample. A great shower, a head, twin basins, gas cooker, chest-style refrigerator and a cooler to contain an iceblock for drinks. It will dwindle away over three to four days. There is some fruit in the garden. The beds are comfortable and have bug screens. Bugs are most prevalent when it is wet. Now the people. Lyn and Kirk are the owners. They are likely to be on site for half of the year. They are extremely pleasant and helpful people. You are their guests. William is the manager. He also provides a tour service par excellence. During our first trip he took us to Corcavado National Park. On the way there and during the 22 km hike he spotted all manner of wild life, including anteaters and a sloth. On the second trip, Barbara and I were accompanied by Mary Kay, Barbara's 89-year old mother. He took us on a drive to find wild life for Mary Kay. Again, he found a sloth. Leda and Marle support him. They clean, garden, make beds and do the laundry. They will also cook for you. Their meals are inventive and delicious. They also provide baby and "old lady" sitting services. On the one day that we went into Puerto Jimenez, they kept MK company and thoroughly entertained without speaking each other's language. They joined us for MK's birthday party and we all had a good time. Everyone helped with the party, Barbara from Puerto Jimenz despatched ice cream by taxi and Anna, the barmaid at Martina's, baked the birthday cake. So many truly pleasant and hepful people. Josh ran a great boat trip for us and made sure that MK was safe. As we were heading back to port he had a call that there was a large pod of pan-tropical spotted dolphins. We headed back and watched them frolic for haf an hour. I think Barbara will write a separate report. Suffice it to say that I am looking forward to making another trip. Pura Vida.

This review is a long time coming. My family of 6 (2 parents and 4 young adult children ages 26-18) stayed in Casa Linda this past July and it was everything we had hoped for. Sometimes when you are looking forward to a vacation your expectations exceed the reality, but that was not the case here. The house is lovely, the setting magical, and the staff so helpful. Lyn was so helpful, both in the planning stages of the trip and once we there.

This is a great place to go if you want the right mix of adventure and relaxation. Our family loved the waterfall hike, the boat tour, and zip lining.

I would also like to note that the few things we worried about before we arrived, bugs and the lack of AC, were absolutely no issue at all.

Lyn and Kirk have created such a special place here. We hope to be back soon!

By far, our stay at Casa Bambu was the best part of our trip. I need to state upfront that this is not a luxury resort. It's a get away from it all resort. The accommodations are amazing, but this is like Swiss family Robinson living at its finest. You'll need to grocery shop and there is no cell phone coverage. I work a very busy job and I've never felt more relaxed. Being so close to the ocean (and it's a warm ocean) watching the sun come up, sitting on the porch passing away a lazy Tuesday in the hammock. You also won't ever get as close to wild life as you can here. The scarlet macaws are all over the trees and we had several monkey troops playing just feet from our porch. I cannot tell you how wonderful this place is. Lyn and her husband are also two of the nicest people you'll meet.

Make sure you book the bay tour and wild life reserve. Lyn can help you with this. And close the windows, lest the monkeys steal all your food. :-)
