We really liked this place- it was unusual, quirky and different. The staff were friendly and laidback, which was nice. The building was so fascinating, being an old institution- I noticed on tripadvisor that some people complained about the building being run down...we thought it actually added to the character and unusualness of the place :) The eco village was so interesting to explore and it was a lovely location out in Pinelands. The prop art shop next door to the backpackers was also great to explore and we spent ages in there checking out all the weird and wonderful items!
The only things that were a bit annoying was that there wasn't really enough kitchen utensils, the kitchen was quite dirty and people had left washing up, etc and it didn't seem to be very organised. Some of the other backpackers we stayed at had baskets or boxes for people's food and labels with names and leaving dates- this would have been useful to keep it more organised. The recyclying facilities were fab though and we really liked the random pet chicken strutting about the place! :D Thanks for a refreshingly different backpackers experience :DMore
