Had a light bite and a drink here on a cycle ride around Rutland Water. All was ok but prices a bit steep for what it was, proably due to the location and a captive audience.

Thank you for your recent comments. I am sorry to hear that you found our prices a little steep, but I can reassure you that these are comparative to other local businesses.

Situated ideally between the two parts of Rutland Water Nature Reserve this pub was a great place to stop for lunch. It is obviously just as good a halt for those riding the cycle trail. Excellent parking facilities, appealing exterior and very friendly girls behind the bar. We ate 'Osprey's Nest' - a huge bowl of tasty chilli with nachos and melted cheese, very reasonably priced at £6.50. Nice touch that they donate 50p from every portion served to the Nature Reserve funds.

Good quality / value pub food without being 'gastro'. Staff were friendly. There aren't many tables inside and it can get busy at peak lunch time (there was a table next to us that had been reserved so this might be worth doing). There are also plenty of tables outside if the weather is fine. Very close to the Lyndon Visitor Centre on the south side of Rutland Water.

Have visited this pub twice now for lunch. The food is good, the fish and chips were certainly plentiful as well as the scampi and chips that my friend had. However, the steak pie was a little dry, but did come with a jug of gravy to complement it. We would visit again as the food represents good value.
