this is a nice hotel but arriving there is a bit of a nightmare if you are using a car. The directions in the website are not enough!

it is a good choice in the expensive Karlovy Vary.

Comfortable, mainly quiet hotel (though building works on hill above at back of hotel), helpful staff who provided prompt email response for request for directions by car to hotel (they will drive car round to their offsite parking).
Restaurant is not big and it may be advisable to book in advance.
Appetizers brought round are added to bill (appears to be standard practice in restaurants cf Embassy restaurant, but probably not be familiar to newly arrived tourists).
Offered enjoyable tasting of some of Czech wines on list before ordering by bottle or 25 cl carafe. However non Czech wines are expensive e.g. Chateauneuf du Pape 2001 at over 2000 korunas (£50 approx).

I stayed in the Promenada after reading reviews on TripAdvisor.com. I had been to Karlovy Vary before, but I don't remember seeing this place! It was delightful. We were surprised with the size of the room and the bathroom (although a little more counter space would have been nice). All of the activities we scheduled - massages, pedicures, spa time - were arranged by the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay there and should I ever return to Karlovy Vary, I'll reserve my room at the Hotel Promenada!

We stayed for seven weeks at the Hotel Promenada and were very satisfied. The accommodations were very good and were situated in the old spa part of the town.

The restaurant was one of the best we have ever eaten in. It is first rate!

The staff was most courteous to us.

I would highly recommend this hotel to any traveler in this area.

I have stayed at this hotel for over a week, and am very pleased with it. The service is outstanding. The friendly hotel staff will park your car in the evenings and have it waiting for you in the morning with the snow and ice scraped off (I am here in late December 2004).

There is a quite good breakfast served on the first floor. The rooms are larger than the average you normally see in Europe. The rooms appear to be fairly recently refurbished, and mine at least has a quite comfortable lounge chair. The bathrooms are large and fairly well appointed. The TV is small, and the selections in English are limited to CNN. There are several German stations, one Russian, one French, one Italian, and 4 or 5 channels in Czech.

Only two warnings - I believe there are only 2 rooms in the Hotel with a stand-up shower. The rest have a tub with sprayer. The second issue is that the beds are very firm and the pillows insubstantial.

There are 2 quite large rooms on the first floor (second floor for us Americans) that are almost apartment-like.

All in all, a good place to stay.
