As this site had such a good evaluation, my husband end I decidede to visit it. For for those who do not speak czech, BEWARE! They are not clear about the visits to the museum AND the mine. One MUST enter the museum with a guide WHO JUST SPEAKS CZECH and you have to follow this guide, holding an exmplanation of every object in English, Spanish or other language you have chosen. The museum coul be visited in, let's say, maximum twenty minutes, but one MUST FOLLOW the guide.
Now, the mine would be interesting AGAIN IF the guide spoke English, Your are given another folder with explanations ei whatever language you have chose, but how could possibly read in a very narrow, slippery, place with a very dim light???? We thought the explanations people give you when you buy the tickets very misleading and so, we felt cheated!

If you are headed to the Czech Republic, even though this attraction is not on a lot of tour schedules, take the hour drive from Prague or schedule a private tour to the Bone Church. This is truly worth the effort. We had a couple of free days to ourselves after a two week tour of Central Europe and decided to visit the Bone Church with a private tour company. We booked the tour through our hotel and everything went like clockwork. It is a church decorated with over 40,000 human skeletons and while a bit on the morbid side, nevertheless a truly memorable experience. We first saw this church on US television and decided that we would make the effort to see it. Glad we did. If there is a fee to visit, I am sure it was included when we purchased the tour though the hotel ($54 US per person). Nevertheless, worth it!!

We visited the silver mine as part of a day trip from Praha to Kutna-Hora. We took the longer tour that included a tour of the mine. Our group was small (6-8 people) and our guide was nice. She explained the whole history of the town and took us down the mine where we spent over half an hour. We were given overcoats, helmets and a torch for the tour.
The open sections of the mines were not too deep, but afforded a very nice and different experience. The dark damp corridors and low and narrow passages were hard to navigate at times. This gave us an idea of the rigours of a miner's everyday life.

I would definitely recommend this tour, provided one is not claustrophobic.

We visited this museum with a group of mine-historic researchers. The museum offers some information on the silvermining and the silver that was mined. Unfortunately only in Czech and clearly outdated presentions. The visit to the underground was good. There was quit a bit of serious mine-related information told by the guide, mixed in with luckely not too much tourist-stuff fake info. The walk underground is not very long but it gives you a good idea of the underground mining.
