“Perfect place to relax”

We are very happy with our choice. Very pleasant family atmosphere, very good service, unfortunately the hotel was apparently fully booked before, so we could not checked in ealier in our room at 11 o'clock . The reception was very friendly and informed us that we could park our car and leave our luggage at the reception. Luggage service. Excellent! When we came back after a walk, our suitcases were already in the room and nice welcoming. Unfortunately, we were at low season in Marianske Lazne, a few museums are still closed. But we will come back.

We have stayed as a couple in this hotel and besides the accomodation we had a "wellness package" - absolutely not worth the money

- hotel is clean, newly furnished, quite small but nice

- pool is very small, sauna also quite small and always very full

- low level of service on reception - when we arrived 15 mins earlier before the official check-in we were told without even introducing that if we have a reservation we have to come later, no hello, no can we help you, just go away + when asked for information about the city, we were told we can buy a map for 50CZK + no one ever spoke English + different behavior if you are Czech (worse) or German/Russian - this all for me is UNACCEPTABLE at a 4* hotel

- hotel is NOT in the center, it is close to it walking - 15-20 minutes

- as dinner was already in price of our wellness stay we had it in the hotel's restaurant - first dinner - no choice from menu, only one type of food given, bad service - second romantic dinner - no choice from menu, only one type of food given, between the starter and main dish we waited 40 (!) minutes - no apology or explanation - overall food was good, service terrible

- at breakfast when we came half an hour before closing, food not added, empty trays, when asked for refill it took 25 minutes

- last but not least, the hotel took 3000 CZK from my bank account as deposit AFTER we left and has never returned it. I had to ask my bank to solve the issue as the hotel did not although I called there and wrote emails - again this for me is UNACCEPTABLE at a 4* hotel

Room Tip: I do not recommend this place to English speaking clientele. Also the packages - wellness, romantic...

There are some shining points of the hotel was that we got it at a great price- we booked the romantic package which included a 20 min mineral bath, a massage, and a romantic candlelit dinner at 90euro per night for 2 nights. The room was clean and well maintained, and it was nicely located to allow us to easily access the city. The mineral bath and massage was wonderful and the two wellness people was very nice. Unfortunately, that's where it ends. I am not certain who gave them the 4 stars, but I can't think of any hotel rating agency I know that would. This is a long review because I really want to share our experience and why we will not be returning.

When we booked, we saw that parking would be available, which for us is necessary as we drove. Upon arrival, we notice that there is only a few parking spots in front of the hotel, all of which were reserved. We had to then find a parking spot the next street over, which is fine but in a foreign country, we would have preferred for something a little more secure.

Check-in was no problem, went rather smoothly. We received our appointment for our massage and candlelight dinner and we went to our room. As I mentioned before, our room was clean and well maintained. It was a corner room, so it was larger than some of the other rooms.

As we had planned this to originally be a wellness getaway, we then tried to get another massage in for the next day. We went to the wellness center, which we were informed they were completely booked until Monday (we asked on Friday). Surprised and disappointed, we went to the front desk to ask for recommendations. As this area is well known for wellness, we assumed that we would at least get suggestions, since the hotel itself didn't have any available times. The answer was no, sorry. Again, I understand that this is also their business, but when you're completely booked, you could recommend your guests somewhere to go. The attitude of the lady at the front desk was a bit dismissive as well, which I did not like and unfortunately, I would encounter this attitude twice more before the end of the stay. We ended up walking around the city and doing research ourselves. Not service I would expect of a "4-star hotel."

Our first meal there was dinner, which was a 3 course meal (appetizer, meal, dessert). After the meal, my husband made the perfect comment: well it could be worse. The soup we received as an appetizer was not very flavorful, the chicken we received as part of our main dish was dry, and our dessert was a local dish (we assume) that we simply did not like. What we did not like was that there was no choice as to what to eat- there was what was available and that's it. As it was a proper restaurant, I would have at least expected some choice- maybe not the entire menu but maybe 2 or 3 choices. The food left us so unimpressed that we purposely skipped breakfast the next morning, instead going to a local restaurant for an early lunch. As a result of our disappointing dinner, we didn't expect much of the candlelit dinner- which turned out to be another 3 course meal with a glass of wine included. The waiter and waitress were very friendly and gave good service. However, not food I would expect from a "4-star hotel."

As part of our package, we were suppose to have a fruit basket and a bottle of sparkling wine in our room. Neither was there when we arrived so we thought that perhaps, we would receive it the next day. Next morning, nothing. So we went down to the front desk and asked. Again, we encountered this dismissive attitude "But it was delivered to you. I have it written here." No, it was not there in our room. She discussed this with us for about 5-7 minutes, checking books and asking our room number, and insisting it was delivered. To be honest, we didn't need the fruit basket or the sparkling wine, but we were simply inquiring about it, as it was part of the package. Instead of getting good service and looking into it, it instead felt like an inquisition and felt as though she thought we were lying and we were trying to get another basket and bottle from the hotel. That could not be farther from the truth and at one point, I turned to my husband and was like, forget it. She then said she would check. A few hours later, she came to the room and apologized as there was a mix-up in rooms and we indeed (as we stated) didn't receive the basket and wine.

Prior to our massage, we went down to the front desk and asked for robes (odd that a "4-star hotel" would not have these in the room). The response: sorry we don't have any. What do you mean? As a wellness hotel, I would expect that you have have at least 1 for every possible guest, which if that is the case, how do you run out? Again, very dismissive. No, sorry, no robes and gave no suggestions, to which my husband said, should we walk to the wellness center naked. We ended up using towels, which was not a big deal, but we, again, were disappointed.

This is not a 4 star hotel, by any stretch of the imagination. The reception could use some schooling on how to interact with guests- insinuating that they are trying to cheat the hotel out of things they never got and being dismissive is not a good way to get good reviews and repeat customers. We are considering to return to the area in the summer but we will stay away from this hotel and try another one.

Hereby, we allow us to give an opinion:
The fruit basket and bottle of Champagne was brought in the wrong room, it was a mistake from the housekeeping. We are very sorry that it takes a few minutes that you received it, we have been updating the internal procedure to control the right delivery and communication and we are sure it will not happen again.


For your stay you made the reservation for a complete package which includes a special dinner and halfpension. In the reservation confirmation was written, what your packages includes. Of course it is possible to change the choice for meal, we offer also special diet or vegetarian dishes, but it is recommended that the guests inform the hotel restaurant in advance or simply add a short remark to the reservation and the reservation department will contact the guests back with details. We apologize if the dinner was not of your taste, by contacting immediately the service staff, our chef would have been pleased to serve you something different of your choice. In our menu we offer a wide selection of dishes, Bohemian and international cuisine.

We would like to apologize the behavior of our staff, as well. Your comments have been taken very seriously and we have also taken already better measures. Thank you, that you have contacted us. Just by the rating of our guests, we are able to improve the standards. It would be a pleasure for us, especially if you would trust in us once again, to welcome you in our hotel and to inspire you with an professional service and to be a perfect host.

We spend here 3 nights and it was pleasant...nice sauna, wellness (bit expensive but good service), swimming pool small but enough if u don't need to swim...breakfast rich, but I wouldn't recommend meals,we were expecting more from cuisine of 4 stars hotel...the room was nice,VERY CLEAN, just we heard noises very often from the hall and rooms upstairs...good position in a town wich is great if u are looking for relax...

I stayed at this hotel last week for 4 nights and it was a very relaxing stay in this lovely town. The courtesy and assistance that was offered by staff member Silke from the Reception,was outstanding , and she is a real asset to the management of this hotel. Her customer service skills are exceptional. My deluxe room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and I slept soundly. The included breakfast menu offered an adequate choice of cereals, meats,cheeses, breads, hot foods, juices, croissants etc. The swimming pool was small, but relaxing and extremely well maintained. The domestic staff were friendly and respectful and cleaned my room very well. I will definitely return to this hotel.

Room Tip: I suggest a deluxe room

Very nice hotel in good location. Incredible value at 62.50 Euros for standard double room, including elaborate breakfast. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They even arranged for the carriage driver to pick us up at the hotel for a nice, well-explained tour of the city. Mirianske Lazne might just be the prettiest city we have ever seen in our 38 trips to Europe. Will definitely stay at the Hotel Continental again.

The location of the hotel is very convenient, in the centre of town. Everything was very clean and we also enjoyed the sauna and pool ( although it is quite small). Staff were very friendly and helpful and let us leave our car in their car park on check out day as it wasn't busy. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room check it's not facing the road.
