While looking for a place to have lunch during a recent trip to Pilsen, we stumbled upon Zumbera. We would highly recommend this restaurant to other visiting Pilsen.
Traditional Food: Zumbera offers a very extensive menu. There is something for everyone, whether you are vegetarian or a meat lover. A large portion of the menu is dedicated to traditional Czech favorites. We ordered the pork knee, potato croquettes, and tomato salad. We shared these three items, and it was more than enough food. The total bill including two coffees & three beers was around $20 USD.
Local Vibe: Despite its location near the center of town, Zumbera doesn't seem to be a "tourist" spot. The restaurant was pretty full at 2:00pm on a Friday, but we appeared to be the only tourists in the house. We were greeted in Czech, and the server didn't speak much English; however, a well translated English menu was available so ordering was no problem.
Location: Zumbera is situated in the heart of the old town, just two blocks from the main town plaza, The Square of the Republic. All of the town's main attractions, including the synagogue, beer museum, Pilsner Urquell brewery, and Cathedral of St. Bartholomew can be reached on foot in less than 15 minutes.
Overall, we really enjoyed our experience at Zumbera and think that it offers great value to people visiting Pilsen.
