“Good vegetarian alternative”
Reviewed 10 May 2012

It's in the centre, cheap, tasty and vegetarian. I sometimes have problem with some dishes, which I find too oily or too sweat. You have to choose wisely (and/or be lucky:)
I don't like the metal dishes and cups (I can smell the metal from it everytime I drink. Normal ceramic dishes would be ecologic as well, better looking and better "tasting").

“Bad Indian food for those who unwilling to eat at proper Indian Restaurants”
Reviewed 28 April 2012

Coming from a typical Indian home, I happened to visit Prague this April with my family and after days of being alienated from Indian food we decided to try out at Govinda for our lunch.

The place is located 1.5 Kms from Staromestska Radnice (The Astronomical Clock). We had what was called a full meal for 110Kč which included steamed rice, a subji (vegetable in coconut gravy), a cup of rasam (tamarind water prepared in pulses) and a dessert of sorts made out of wheat (I guess!), all these in unlimited portions.

However, the food was terrible to taste. Leave alone the unlimited portions, we struggled to eat what was offered. With the exception of subji everything was served cold which is extremely unIndian. The pulses were half cooked and the dessert completely off-flavoured. We felt terribly bad for ending up at this place for our lunch for we realised that we were better off eating at the small eateries on the roadside offering local dishes.

My suggestion to fellow Indians and others thinking of trying out at this Indian restaurant, please do so at your own risk of losing appetite and a proper lunch. Govinda is nowhere near to Indian food and Indianess.

There is a saying in south India for something that goes astray....Govinda Govinda!!!

“piu' che un ristorante e' una mensa per studenti (a canteen more than a restaurant)”
Reviewed 2 October 2011

The place is simple but fine, indian style. They serve you the food over an iron dish, there is only one base menu plus few additional special adds (that are served cold). The food is not bad, but very simple, like white rice with vegetables, salad, vegetables soup. The plus is that we spent 6€ each.

“Tasty, Healthy, & Afforable”

Very tasty vegetarian food with a large selection. This place is perfect if you need a break from Czech food which isn't exactly health oriented or if you are vegetarian.
