First the Good News: We had some of the **best frites ever** at this small bistro cafe. The entrecote reminded me of a Paris steak house we visited the last time we were in Europe. What could be better than steak smothered in a traditional French sauce (butter, mustard, and tarragon, I think?).
Now for the Bad News: The French onion soup was bland and sub-par - avoid! The salad that comes with the meal was dressed with a horseradish vinaigrette. Also, portions for the delicious steak were on the small side, with a bit more gristle and fat than expected - but that I could live with...
However, our check looked higher than expected, so that warranted a closer look. The first part of the check accurately reflected our order, but tacked on at the end were a couple desserts and other items we didn't order. Yes, we do look like tourists, and I would like to believe that this was an honest mistake. It would be easy to just pay the darn thing after such a rich meal and a glass or two of the good, affordable wine, especially not being used to the local currency. We would have been overcharged by more than 50% and were glad to have looked more closely.
One final tip: Presently the cafe accepts cash only, so if you eat here, be sure to stop at the ATM first.
