Had wonderful 4 days in Prag! We would Hotel Apartments Templova reccomend to everybody! The apartments are clean, bright, wide and at a totally perfect place between the Moldau (river) and the city center! You can reach the most sights on foot and the rest per tram or underground (Metro). If you need more informations about Prag (Shopping, Party, Sights etc.) don't be shy and just write me! ;-)

I went with my family last month and stayed at the Templova Apartments, booking a 3 bedroom apartment on the 4th floor. The check-in process was fairly smooth, and we were 'explicitly' told that since our flight on the day of departure was in the evening, we could stay on until the afternoon.. unless they expected another guest.. in which case, we would be informed the evening before to give us enough preparation time.

The apartment itself is very ideally located close to the Old Town Square. However, the interior left a lot to be desired. The floors were dusty upon arrival, and the kitchen equipment was very dirty. After having lived in apartments around Europe, this was the worst I have lived in because of lack of cleanliness. The curtains were torn, a couple of the beds had broken bases! These had been stuck together with tape and the mattress placed on it, leading the unsuspecting visitor to sit on it and crashing in. Health and safety has not been accounted for, as it is also very unsafe for families with young children. The large windows are very low and had been left unlocked, so anyone can access the latch and open the windows of this 4th floor apartment. The worst aspect is that there are drug peddlers near the entrance of the apartment in the evening hours. Doesn’t seem safe at all when returning from a day out, especially with children.

The worst part of our experience happened on the last day. Since we hadn't heard from the apartment manager the previous evening about new arrivals, we assumed that his assurance that we could stay on until the afternoon applied in our case. Upon returning from lunch around 1pm, we find the cleaning lady inside! She had let herself in and had cleared our toiletries from the bath, moved and shifted many of our items, and guess what - the broken bed had been mended too - with tape! (see photos).

We were sorely dissapointed by this intrusion of privacy. Upon contacting the manager, he clearly reneged on the assurance he made on the first day and claimed that there were going to be new visitors. He followed this up by saying that if we wished to stay for a few more hours, then we will have to shell out 20 euros! Hence they were not expecting new guests, but it was a ploy to extract some more money out of us. We wouldnt have minded had this been spelled out clearly on the first day. We were after all spending 600 euros for those four nights; an additional 20 would have made no difference. But it was the manner in which this was dealt with that left us feeling bitter.

If you are travelling with children, I suggest you look for somewhere more safer within the vicinity. Stock yourself with body washes and more towels, harder pillows (as the pillows there are very squashy), as well as kitchen stuff like salt, sugar, coffee, etc. Compared to how well-stocked some of the other apartments in Europe I have lived in have been, this was not even sparsely equipped. So a trip to the supermarket might be in order after you have had a look around the apartment, upon arrival.

The tube stations, tram stops, restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance, as are some of the tourist spots. However, I am sure you can find safer options in the vicinity that will prove to be better value for money. Being in the city centre, there were night time drunk revellers singing and making merry in the middle of night... probably because it was over the weekend. If you are a light sleeper like me, this could wake you up. And it does not matter that you are on the 4th floor. The noise will still wake you up.

What I liked about the apartment: The location
What I didn't like about the apartment: Safety aspect of the window, the broken beds, the soft pillows, the drug peddlers near the entrance, dirty kitchen toaster and dishracks, no living room furniture (no coffee table or sofa), sparsely equipped kitchen and bathroom, unfriendly staff who cannot be trusted for their assurances.
