The apartment was as described (although we never found the dishwasher) and was impeccably clean upon arrival.
My low rating is due to a sub-par level of customer service. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant and helpful, but the business model is lacking:
- Check in: Guests are required to check in at the office, a 20 minute walk from the flat. Transportation from train station/airport to office is offered at 5x the rate for uberPOP. No transportation is offered to the flat. After traveling most of the day, the last thing you need is an extra leg.
- Communication: The only instructions we were given regarding the flat were: 1) directions from the office and 2) wifi password. The directions did not even include the flat # - just "turn right when you exit the elevator". There was no apartment manual (aside from a laminated list of rules) and we were afraid to contact the office with further questions for fear of fees (see below)
- Fees: Guests must sign a contract agreeing to a charge of 20 Euro (per visit) if a handyman is sent and nothing is really broken. But, there is no apartment manual! See the problem? During our stay, the shower handle was either broken, too loose, or extremely sensitive so the water was either scalding or freezing. But, we didn't want to pay 20 euro just to be told "it is supposed to be that way".
I have rented many airbnbs/vacation rentals - this experience was not up to those standards. I wish I had known the above prior to booking this flat.
