“Great Old Town location, no concierge or fitness center- not recommended”
Reviewed 4 July 2011

We are staying here now and shocked by how little the front desk staff knows about The area. The rooms are nice and our Junior Suite 601 is enormous but still lacking with no outlet for my hairdryer in the bathroom, no robes or anything else to make me feel that I am in a nice hotel. This hotel is average at best and the lack of a concierge and fitness center assure that we would not book here again but we dont plan on returning to this beautiful but terribly touristy city. Sorry, Prague wasnt that special.

Room Tip: Jr suite is large with living room

I just returned from a 2+ week tour of Eastern Europe. We stayed at the Barcelo’ in Old Town Prague for multiple nights. The location is awesome for seeing the sights; the room was more than expected in terms of size, amenities….. and the breakfast was first rate including mimosas! There was a technical problem with the air conditioning the first night. This can happen anywhere. I brought the situation to the attention of the Manager, Tereza, and she went out of her way to correct the problem and do whatever she could to make us feel that she and the hotel would ensure that we would return. Based on the property and their professionalism I would certainly stay there again.

This is a lovely modern hotel in the old town of Prague. We were warmly greeted and provided with one of the best hotel suites that I have ever stayed in.

Truly exception for the price.

On the fourth floor at the front of the hotel with a balcony over Celetna, is just the place to be in Prague. Our suite had one and a half bathrooms - luxury for people that are touring Europe by hotel - and a huge lounge. Friends that were with us there had a similar suite, that was different in quirky ways - the rooms were not the same - except in excellence.

Old Town Square is walking distance and there are sensational bright red vintage cars with tour guides to take you up the hill to the castle area for not a lot of bucks.

We stayed here for six nights - the longest single stop on a six week tour - and felt that we had lucked into one of the best stays that we had on the trip. The restaurants nearby are very much designed for the tourist market, but the hotel recommended Apostilla, which is nearby and very very good.

We stayed at the Barcelo Old Town and loved it. Very clean, modern lobby and dining area yet inside hallways and rooms still with that European flair that I like. Delicious complementary Russian champagne upon checking in. Friendly reception. We booked for 3 nights; they did ask us to move to a 5* hotel for the first night and then they would put us up at their best room for the next 2 nights as there was a "problem" with the rooms, but we denied this as we had already been to 2 different cities and just wanted to be settled in. They were fine with this and there was absolutely no problem in turning down this offer. Seems they have a tendency to overbook. It is such a wonderful hotel, i can see why. Rooms exceptionally clean and ours was quite spacious.. Breakfast was one of the best I have experienced in all of Europe. Extensive buffet with very impressive selection. Our AC didn't work the last night - staff was up in our room minutes after our call was placed, but unfortunately, they were unable to fix it, but these things happen. Luckily, it wasn't a buggy time of year. Bathroom had an electricity converter, first I have ever seen in Europe. Hotel is in a wonderful location, just 5 minute walk to Old Town Square and 15 minute walk to the Charles Bridge. Depending on where your room faces, it is quite quiet. As an aside, it is also a 5 minute walk to "Ambiente Pizza Nuevo" a wonderful Italian restaurant with excellent pizza....and I'm a New Yorker! (If you eat towards the back, there is an open playroom for children, so I'd try and eat more up front.) They own various restaurants, including "Pasta Fresca" which is only a couple of blocks from the hotel on Celetna. We couldn't get in one night but it smelled incredible and the restaurant looked wonderful. So when you get tired of the meat, I would recommend either of those restaurants.

After dozens of trips around the world, I have stayed in everything from bamboo huts to 5 star, world-class resorts. I've got to put my stay at Hotel Barcelo Old Town Prague as one of my best experiences ever! The staff was amazing, in every sense...kind, generous, helpful, and spoke English/Spanish/French/German perfectly! Upon our arrival, we had the pleasant surprise that for no apparent reason, we had been upgraded (at no extra cost) to a luxury master suite--with an incredible and gigantic living room, 2 flatscreen TVs, a crib (we were traveling with our 1 yr old baby), and free wi-fi. The breakfast was abundant, fresh, and had a great variety of foods, from delicious pastries, hearty meats, wonderful omelettes, to fresh fruits of all types. Best of all, all of this for a very reasonable price. A special thanks to Gustavo, Thereza, and the 2 blonde office attendants who were extremely helpful in helping us with our entire stay...you made it a memorable one and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel--it's the closest thing to perfection you will ever see in a hotel!

The location is great, couldn't be better for sightseeing or shopping. The hotel is very nice, luxurious and modern. WiFi is ok - didn't work all the time or everywhere, quiet slow, except at reception where connection was good. Breakfast is good - a bit more choices would have been fine but quality was top!
