We arrived on a very cold early evening and received a warm welcome and upgraded room. A welcoming glass of wine before we went to our room and then to our fantastic attic suite with fairytale views of the spires and castle. All the staff were very friendly and if someone did not comprehend our English they quickly found another staff member who was able to help.
Breakfast was acceptable and could be improved with a wider choice but we filled up well and the chef made scrambled eggs to order so no soggy mush from a big warmer.
Excellent location for walking to most attractions. We enjoyed opera, ballet and classical music in three different venues of startling architectural buildings. We did so much during our short stay of four nights, unbelievable!

Just got back from a long weekend, staying at the Barcelo. I picked this hotel after reading the reviews on trip advisor and was not disappointed: fantastic location, great spacious rooms, excellent service, fab breakfast, modern decor. I am very fussy about my hotels but would stay here again without fail. And I got a great deal via travel republic for £75 per room incl breakfast. It's location means you can walk everywhere easily - right under the powder tower and on a main cobbled street to old town square and the astronomical clock.
The hotel restaurant seems okay but it's far more fun to explore the side streets for hidden gems - Mlejnice being great czech food, cheap and nearby.
Places to visit - the castle at 12 to see the changing of the guard; the Museum of Communism to understand the recent (scary) history of the country; the Kubism museum cafe (right opposite the hotel) for a poirot-style experience; any tower for the view.
All in all a great city - and a great hotel.

We stayed at the Barcelo Old Town hotel from Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th Jan 2009. This hotel cannot be beaten for location. Literally 200m from the Old Town Square and even closer to a 200-shop shopping centre, Palace Cinema and the Hybernia theatre yet far enough from the square to be quiet. It's also on a pretty cobbled street. The staff are friendly and helpful and we were welcomed with a glass of champagne which was a great way to start our trip. Inside the hotel is clean and modern, but doesn't have much in the way of character. We stayed in a junior suite on a "3 nights for the price of 2" deal. This worked out at £75 per night b&b . Our room was clean but was an odd configuration of 3 very small rooms. The bathroom was immaculate and the rain shower was amazing, especially after a long day out in the cold! Breakfast is pretty poor, but the waiters in the restaurant were friendly when we wanted coffee and desert after an evening out in the town.

Overall we would recommend this hotel but would look for something with more character if we were to return to Prague.

Champagne while checking in at the hotel ! Large room, nice decor, great shower. Perfect location right in the center of the old town. Superb breakfast. Went for our first diner to the Casa Argentina (just a few minutes away) where we had the most delicious steack and brochette, decor in this restaurant is uniquely eccentric ! Also used Pragueexperience.com for transfers to and from the airport, excellent and punctual service which also gave us a free 4hr walking tour of Prague (very useful to get to know what you want to see more in detail). All in all, absolutly perfect 4 day trip in a wonderful city!

This hotel is situated in the heart of Prague´s city centre and I can say I love it.This hotel is not could five star hotel you can find it everywhere but very warm and pleasant place for business or holiday as well. It is very difficult to find better mix of location, quality, comfort and price. Rooms are very comfortable, nice decorated and well equipped (especially if you uprade your room for better one - really great). I stay in Barcelo Old town hotel often on business and it is absolutly great to stay in very comfortable hotel (not far from business area and just five minutes from old town square and real historic centre with many great pubs. So what is better then to enjoy the great pils beer after long day?
Breakfest are very good and you can choose from reach buffet and also you can get the Nespresso coffe which is incomparable to common hotel´s breakfets coffes..
And staff? Very willing, friendly and warm (to be honest very nice too..).
I can recommend this hotel for business and holidays travelers as well you will be satisfied.

It is not easy to find a good, modern, clean hotel in Prague at reasonable prices... I find Czech hotels not to be up to the western europe standards yet (at least at normal prices!)
So i was surprised to find this great hotel in such PERFECT location (200m away from Old Square).

Great architecture, cozy rooms, good service (which is something when comparing to the rest of czech services...), dont forget to visit the restaurant, which looks little bit lonely though (not many customers there) but food quality is fantastic

I definitely will visit them again when i travel again to Prague

We stayed here as it seemed close to the Old Town and Xmas markets but found it was actually so much more. The rooms were clean, spacious and well serviced. Our requests on booking were filled perfectly. The staff on arrival and duriing our stay were friendly, polite and really helpful. The Hotel was much better than the pictures or reviews led us to believe. We only booked for room and breakfast but the breakfasts were a real feast both to the eye and mouth!
This was a lovely hotel which we will use again. It is part of a chain so we will now look out for these hotels.
Out stay in Prague was just magical but made perfect by this lovely hotel and courteous staff. Thank you all very much
