“An Oasis”
Reviewed 26 July 2011

This hotel has fewer than 40 rooms, so guests are well-looked after. The decor of the rooms is exactly like in the photographs; beautifully appointed. If you love the color red, you'll be in heaven here. The rooms were immaculate, the bed fantastically comfortable, the bathroom very luxurious. Every night turndown service included pastries and chocolates, and fresh bottled water. The rooms are not too dark, since there is plenty of lighting once you figure out how to use the controls and many light switches/dimmers. However, the hallways are ludicrously dark. As is the Buddha Bar Restaurant. They bring you tiny flashlights to read the menu, and you need them. The food was wonderful at the Restaurant, but I feel that something is lost when you cannot really see the colors and textures of the food. Honestly, absurdly dark, and the franchise should get over this affectation. When it's that hard to see, your energy is drained just trying to move around.
The music system in the rooms was great, and the location perfect. I was amazed at how right outside and around the corner was the huge old town square, thronging with people; yet inside the hotel was another world, peaceful, quiet, calm. You can walk everywhere from this hotel, including up to Prague CAstle! The people who work at the front desk, including Jakob, were wonderfully warm and helpful; the staff at the Siddhartha Cafe were also wonderful, especially Katerina. Veronika Borovickova, the Reservations Manager, was incredibly helpful and kind, helping me weeks in advance to solve a pre-payment issue.

Take the time to learn some Czech phrases and courtesies. It makes a huge difference, people open up immediately if you simply know how to say "thank you very much" with a proper Czech accent. One last warning: most of what people say about Czech taxi drivers is true. Negotiate and agree upon your fare before getting in to a taxi.
With respect to lodging, I would definitely stay in this hotel again. It is worth the 5 star rating.

We ate in the Siddharta cafe as it looked good - fabulous interior design and great to see something different in Prague. BUT unless you like soup so hot with chilli that you choke and flavourless cold spring rolls of grated vegetables wrapped in floppy rice pasta don't eat there - just have a drink. The waitress was very sniffy when we sent the food back and most surprised we didn't want to pay for it. If you like oriental food go to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel - delicious.

This hotel was unbelievable. It was located very close to Old Town Square and everything in Prague was within walking distance. The staff was very nice and helpful. We had two rooms on the fifth floor. Some of the highlights of the room include.:

1. TV that could swivel and tilt using a remote control.
2. Windows that could open/close, open/close shades, and open/close zero-light blinds with a remote control.
3. TV hidden in a mirror in the bathroom.
4. Cappuccino machine in the room.
5. Lights everywhere, including cool nightlights that lit up the floor.

Overall experience was great. We had no problems (but we also really only used the hotel for sleeping). The Buddha Bar restaurant in the basement had great food too!

The least liked amenity were the light switches in our room, and the bath needed a grab bar.
Otherwise, the hotel was excellent. The room was always clean and well appointed, including the welcome treat placed on the bed each evening.
The staff were always respecful and courteous. The reception staff organised tickets and seats for the operas, and got us the best seats.
The reception staff also orgranised transport and showed us exact directions when we walked to our destinations. We swere there for two weeks
We are a mature couple, and this hotel was a great start for our journey.

Room Tip: Tell the recption staff what you want - they will assist you in all ways.

My wife and I just spent 6 nights at the very relaxing & zen atmosphere of the Buddha Bar hotel.
- Location is ideal: 5 minutes walking-distance to restaurants, bars, tourists shops/areas, shopping malls, metro, tram, bus. Ideal to visit ANY / ALL quartiers of Prague.
- Room: Very clean (2 services minimum per day, welcome drink, daily water/snacks), bed is huge and very comfortable, amazing sound system, fantastic bathroom (huge bathtub, rain-shower, best quality of toilets products), curtains remotely controlled.
Despite the touristic and animated location, room was very quiet (big double window to isolate the noise), because the hotel is located in a street hidden from the main touristic square (we slept like babies :-))
- Staff: young, dynamic, efficient, friendly.
Special thanks to Mehdi, Jakub for all their advices.
There was a misunderstanding on the conditions/price of our stay, so we've been offered 1 hour massage free for both of us (thanks Katerina).
- Bar/restautant: quite a nice choice. Dishes are nicely served.
However, the overall taste was not really according to our taste, but this is just our personal taste.

Probably one of the best hotel we've ever stayed.

Wow!

This centrally-located boutique hotel, just 5 minutes from Old Town Square, is a great jumping off point for a first time visit to Prague. Everything is within easy walking distance.

The rooms are large, luxurious, and well stocked with every amenity you could ever ask for (except for a clothing iron). Free breakfast is included, internet access is included, and the staff is friendly and eager to help. We ordered room service dinner on our first night, and the food was good and delivered quickly.

The only thing I'll point out is that laundry service at this hotel is super expensive! I didn't bother looking at the prices, and accidentally paid $120 EUR to get some socks and t-shirts laundered... it would have been cheaper just to buy new clothing.

One quick tip - be sure to check out the Pizza/Italian joint just outside the hotel door. Unlike many restaurants in Old Town, this one is not an overpriced tourist trap and delivers very good value.

Every other hotel wont seem as good by comparison. This place is great. It's like they made a list of everything that sucks in regular hotels and decided to exceed in those areas. I've stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels around the world and this place is way better than places where I've spent twice as much.

Service is incredible. Mega double pane windows for quiet. Thought I would be turned off by the 'oh so cool' ambience. I was wrong. It totally works.
