“Sexy with Service”
Reviewed 7 March 2011

We booked a one night stay at the Buddha Bar hotel after meeting their representative at a London travel fair a few months before and being wowed by the photographs of the interior.
On arrival, early on Saturday morning after a very early start from London, we were warmly welcomed by the reception/concierge guys who were expecting us and had details of our booking in front of them immediately. They had noted our requests regarding our room and although it was only 10am, they said our room would be ready in approximately an hour, way ahead of the anticipated check in time, and offered us a complimentary welcome drink and suggested a route for us to take a quick walk. As we had also been given a voucher at the travel fair they did everything they could to accommodate our request for the massage this entitled us to, being as flexible as possible with timings etc to be helpful to us.
We took our welcome drink in the lovely cafe and then went for a stroll as suggested. On returning around an hour later we were whisked up to the room after an explanation of the layout of the hotel and its facilities had been given.
The room, oh the room. It was fantastic. Really spacious, gorgeous sumptuous decor and great bathroom with huge bathtub and tile vision tv.
Welcome chocs and water had been left for us with a thoughtful handwritten note from the director of the hotel - just one of the many personalised touches which really made our stay.
The concierge made a dinner reservation for us at a restaurant we had eaten at 9 years before without any fuss and arranged a car to take us there that evening.
Every time we left or entered the hotel the concierge/reception staff were smiling, polite and wished us a nice day - in fact, all of the staff were like this. Just great.
We had post dinner cocktails in the bar on Saturday night, very cool indeed with a great cocktail list. Maybe a price list for the cigar humidor could have been helpful rather than the waitress having to walk backwards and forwards quite so often to enquire but that's a minor issue. The waitresses also seemed quite irritated that we wanted to add their tip to the bar bill and charge it to our room as they informed us that this meant they didn't receive the tip and it went to the hotel instead and so they preferred cash, however, as we were staying in the hotel and had left our coats/wallets etc upstairs we didn't have any cash with us - they seemed quite annoyed about this but that was hardly our fault...
Breakfast on Sunday morning was a leisurely affair, served until 11am which was lovely!
Sunday night rolled around just too soon and after a fantastic Thai massage we checked out at 8pm, an easy and quick checkout with non of the usual queuing or bill queries.
Would we recommend this to other couples looking for a luxurious, romantic break? Yes like a shot! Go you won't regret it.
Anything we thought the hotel could improve upon? Well, the bathroom had an offputting damp smell but this seemed to be generally around that area of Prague rather than just in the hotel... maybe some incense sticks in the bathroom might help though??
Tile vision tv and the B&O tv in the bedroom were great but there were very few English channels... not too relaxing or romantic to watch Sky News in the bathtub... would have been great to have a music channel like MTV perhaps... though the Buddha Bar music selection which you could play through the bedroom tv was fantastic - for some reason you couldn't have this in the bathroom which was a real shame.
Other than those really minor niggles - we would revisit for definite and thanks for making our weekend so lovely!!

We spent 4 nights at the BBH for my birthday and overall we were very impressed -
The Pro's:
Less than 5 minutes walk from The Old Town Square so great for getting anywhere on foot, yet on a quiet side-street so no noise issues;
Stunning (Oriental-themed) decor in the bedroom and
Ultra-modern / funky bathroom (with separate toilet which is always nice) - a huge "monsoon" shower, his and hers twins sinks and a massive bath with dragon mosaic on it and the ability to watch a TV integrated into the bathroom mirror;
Well stocked mini-bar (not cheap, but find me one that is!);
Complimentary "Nespresso" coffee maker
HUGE (and I mean HUGE!) bed with the option of fresh linen every day (should you wish) and a choice of pillows.
Large B&O TV with the ability to stream the back-catalogue of Buddha-Bar music or tune into the live DJ-played music from the bar / restaurant;
Good breakfast - in terms of quality, choice and the fact that you could order it up until 11am (great if you want a lie-in!);
Free Wi-Fi
Cons:
These are more niggles than anything that would put me off going back, but-
The theme of the hotel / restaurant is "dark and moody" Oriental. This can get a bit oppressive as there is no natural light in any of the corridors / restaurant (they actually give you torches in the restaurant in order for you to be able to read the menu!);
The room, whilst luxurious, felt quiet small (partly due to the very large bed, with an ankle-biting frame that you need to be careful to avoid !);
The room has a massive array of lighting options, but no key as to which did what or a master on/off switch. Therefore, bed-time was a slightly lengthy process of pressing random combinations of switches until all of the lights went out).
The lift needed your (electronic) room key to operate and we found the key temperamental both in getting the lift to operate and to open bedroom door. (Upon check-in, the guy on the front desk warned us that the system was less than perfect).

Overall, we were very impressed with the hotel (and with Prague). I suspect that we'll stay at the BBH if we go back to Prague (though maybe opt for a larger room).

NB (1) - We didn't try the spa facilities, so can't comment. However, the prices seemed high (part of the reason for not using!).
NB (2) - I've also reviewed the in-hotel restaurant and other restaurants in Prague - I hope that you find my reviews helpful.

This is the most sexiest hotel I have stayed even....even for business...but...do not travel alone to this hotel. This hotel has sexi sexi atmosphere ever. Very friendly staff, very nicely cleaned hotel and specialy great service. Do not go to bed before you taste one of the unique taste cocktails on in the Buddha Bar - kiwi cucumber cocktail (..is not on the menu, but ask for it). Perfect place to stay and enjoy the life (even if working). :-)

Dear Mr. and Mrs. S.,

I am truly sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us and would like to appologize for any inconvenience.

I investigated the matter and I am also sorry to learn that the request of the credit card authorization at the check-in did not meet your expectations, however, it is a standard procedure and my collegues would be penalized if not doing so.

Since we are a small boutique hotel we normally get very close with our guests, we do remember their preferences, we share their exciting experience within Prague etc. and I regret that we did not recognize your „disappointment“ while still having you under our roof.
Once you have left, unfortunalely, it is too late to change your perspective, at least I hope you will keep nice memories of the sites recommended by our Front Office / Concierge team.

In case you would be willing to come back, please, do not hesitate to contact me directly, it will be my pleasure to assist you personally and listen to your valuable comments.

Best regards,

Thank you very much for your review and we will be very happy to welcome you back to our boutique hotel when visiting Prague for your 5th time.
You are absolutely right, the facade is very modest. It is so to meet the restrictions issued by the Authorities in order to keep the originality of historical Prague 1 reserved.
As our many guests say - the treasure is hidden inside.

Loved this hotel: style and design without the 'cold' décor that is traditionally associated with boutique design hotels. Suite 22 is plush and luxurious, sexy and sensual and we loved the jacuzzi (with TV built into the mirror) as well as the little terrace. The furnishings were beautiful although we did struggle at times with the Bang & Olufson technology and the temperamental rain shower. Both the Siddhartha Cafe and Buddha Bar were beautiful places for a meal, but the first was often quiet, even on the weekend, so we were left wondering where the people were? Service is excellent and the location is also great, just a few minutes walk to the Old Town Square and within easy walking distance to most neighbourhoods and Charles Bridge etc.

We appreciate your review and I would say you are exactly the kind of guest who we target with our sensual and sexy design.
I understand your frustration with some technology, sometimes it even takes me a while to figure out which remove control to use to open the courtains... :)
February is a very low season for Prague which may answer your question regarding the number of guests in the restaurants.
Hope you will have chance to come to enjoy the buddhattitude soon.
