We had late dinner and also lunch.First time we enjoyed very much the food and the service, spinach soup was great and lettuce salad with blue cheese really good, Strudel was also good. The only thing that we didn't like was the price for drinks... water was 160 Kr.!!!

A great place to eat dinner. After trying to get into another restaurant in town (was fully booked), the staff at our hotel recommended The Three Fiddles. We were not disappointed after eating here. Food was great, service was welcoming and the bill was reasonable for 2 x courses each and drinks.

We were recommended this restaurant by out hotel and given vouchers for complimentary drinks. We decided to try it one night as it looked cosy and the prices advertised outside were more than reasonable. After sitting down and perusing the options we settled on the fixed menu but we were told that option was sold out except that it was apparently still available at almost three times the price. We questioned the waiter on this point but he had no explanation and didn't seem to care before walking away.

I don't know if this is instructions from management to staff as a way of squeezing extra cash out of tourists after they are already seated and feel too embarrassed to stand up and leave or make a scene, or whether the waiters are ringing up the orders as advertised and are pocketing the difference. Either way it is unacceptable and I witnessed them saying the same thing to people at other tables who sat down after us. People who had obviously been drawn in by the same chalk boards outside.

Other reviewers have similar stories. We stood up and left and took our money elsewhere.

Thieves.

We just found this place by chance because so many menus displayed outside restaurants read the same. Both of us opted for the fillet steak and I opted for the pepper sauce. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the sauce was home made and really delicious. They recommended a "house" white wine which was also superb. The tomato soup started was also obviously home made and nicely presented. The two course meals, wine and a couple of beers all came to approx £40 which I thought was excellent value for a really nice dining experience. Not large but a cosy feel and you get the personal service. You must give this place a try.

It was such a shame that this delightful little restaurant feels it necessary to charge you more for 2 glasses of wine than for the 3 course tourist menu which it prominently advertise on it's blackboard outside. Shame because the food and ambience was good but the exploitation of foreign tourists left a very bad taste in the mouth.
