“Close to center, small rooms, awful staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 December 2011

I loved the fact that this hotel was so close to the center. You could either walk towards Wenceslav Sq, or towards The National Theater (Narodni Divadlo). Also it is just 3 minutes away from the Metro Station I.P. Pavlova. And next to the metro station there is the tram station, and taking tram 22 will take you to the Mall/Tesco (Narodni Tirida), or to the Funicular for Petrin Hill, or even to the Prague Castle! So the location of the hotel makes it easy for you to visit around and move fast.

2. Hotel room - We booked a double room, but when we arrived we were a little surprised by how small the room was. There was barely room to move around. Ok the bed was a queen size one, but still, there were just a few cm between the bed and the wall for us to walk. This isn't a big problem for people like us that don't use the room the whole day, but it's annoying after you see the pictures on the website to receive this.

The + of the rooms was that they are very hot and cozy during December. It was always warm and pleasant. The room was cleaned daily. Furniture was new. So nothing to complain here, just a big PLUS!

But the hotel staff, especially the blonde & young receptionist should learn how to treat customers. No smile, no information about breakfast and what we could find around. She just sad in her chair the whole time she was talking to us, looking into the computer. The only nice thing was that she allowed us to check in early. But except for that the hotel staff was barely acknowledging our presence there. Never greeting people.

Breakfast was a continental buffet. Not very rich, but ok to keep you happy until lunch. The coffee was very good. But sometimes the restaurant seemed to be to small for the big number of guests.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view to the interior! Also if you are on first floor you can get wifi in your...

Hotel is located 5 minutes walk from Vaclav's Place. It is very clean. In my room I've got a fridge, tv. I didn't expected that. View from balcony was not so good, because we can see other balconys arouns us. Room was very small, but bed was so big. All place in room was occupied by bed. But the bathroom was very big, and clean. We have breakfast included in the price of room. All day we have the same, but we have a lot of dishes to choose. A lot of sandwich, bread, eggs, sausages, cheese, milk. Only juice was poor quality, because it was smack like water.

I stayed in the hotel with my boyfriend for 9 (!) nights in October 2011. The hotel is in great location - 10 minutes' walk from the main attractions. The room was of quite a nice size (for Europe). Clean, with a TV. Internet access - in the room only with a cable, in the lobby - WIFI. All in all, pretty good (we got a really good price - about 45 euros per night for a standard double room). The breakfast wasn't that great - not much to choose from (vegetarians - beware), and the dining room was very crowded during "rush hours".

Excellent location for a good clean budget hotel - just 150 yards from tram and metro stop. Room 311 is not what u want as the foot of the bed is about 8 inches from the wall making it near impossible to get past to window - the other person needs to scrammble over bed to their side. Very clean with a fridge in the room - no tea / coffe making facilites - no air conditioning making the room very warm. Breakfast is continental but wit eggs and sausages - good for the cost. Saw 3 receptionist. When arrived were not greeted with a smile or word of welcome - all receptionist did not smile - possibly a left over from the communist time as they were in the age group that would have attendent school in that era. Saying that they were efficient and will post your cards. Stay here it is good value but ensure when booking u advise u do not want room 311. Also ask for back room as noise of traffic at front will cause u problems 24 hours a day.

Room Tip: Not 311 - refuse room and ensure u get roo at rear of hotel.

Have stayed for just one night at the City Central. First impression about the staff was that she (forgot the name) was not so friendly at the reception, but then it was all good. Maybe it was that moment when you are tired and you don't give 100% behind the desk. But the location was great at an affordable price.
I do recommend it.

We spent 2 nights in the hotel. It has a very good location, 1 km from the edge of city centre, close to a metro station. The room was spacious, nice and clean, especially the bathroom was with a good design:)
Although the window of our room looked at the street with sometimes heavy traffic it was quiet.
The only negative experience is the breakfast, which was mainly from not very good quality ingridients, no fruit at all, very limited vegetables, the scrambled eggs and the frankfurter were fine, otherwise acceptable but not very good. We could live with that.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2011

My wife and I have just returned home from a city break in Prague. We stayed at the City Central de Luxe hotel. On our arrival the weather was very cold with sleet. The hotel check in time is 2.00pm. We arrived at 10.30am expecting to be told we were too early. However, to our pleasant surprise the receptionist took the trouble to see if a room was free at that time. I am pleased to say a room was available and we were able to move in which was a great relief with the bad weather in mind. We were very pleased with the room. It was clean with a nice shower ,plenty of hot water, hairdryer and clean toilet, plenty of cupboard space and drawers. A safe is available at 50 csk a day. There is a television in the room but there are no english speaking channels to be found. There is also a fridge in the room. We requested an extra pillow each and this was no trouble at all. Breakfast was very adequate with scrambled eggs ,cereal, rolls, cake and the usual cheese and ham for our continental friends. Coffee and hot drinks are dispensed from a drinks machine. Fruit juice is also available. You won't go hungry or thirsty.
The location is good for the places of interest just 10 mins. from Wenceslas Square and the old town square another 10-15 mins . We preferred to walk everywhere but public transport is close to hand. There are the usual traffic noises to be heard and late night revellers you would expect in any city but this did not affect our ability to get a good nights sleep.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and there is a baggage room to put your packed cases should you have an evening flight on your last day. We thoroughly enjoyed Prague which was made more enjoyable by staying at the City Cental de Luxe hotel***.
