“Great Location and Friendly staff.”
Reviewed 18 September 2013

The location of the Pension Corto is brilliant, so central and near to lots of great restaurants, attractions and places to drink.

When booking this hotel I mentioned on the reservation that it was for my boyfriends birthday, so I was thrilled when the staff actually brought him a Birthday Cake on the first morning. Very thoughtful and a lovely personal touch.

The staff were incredibly helpful, giving advice on attractions and also organising our taxi transfers to and from the airport, really couldn't have asked for more.

The room itself was clean yet basic. The bed wasn't the comfiest although it was large. They provided coffee and tea making facilities and a fan, which was needed considering the heat.

The only downfall about the whole experience were the amount of stairs we had to battle with each time we came back, our room was on the fifth floor and in the August heat was quite the ordeal. Despite that, I would recommend the Pension Corto and would stay again

We decided to stay here based on the excellent reviews, but were puzzled to discover an old, worn room with just a tiny window, a couple of chairs, small end tables and a huge bed. There was hardly any space to walk around. Also, the air was very stuffy! The room had no ambience whatsoever. We could hear the people in the room next to us talking and slamming doors, etc. Not at all soundproof! Now we know why it was relatively cheap. The location is fantastic, very close to many attractions. But we would not stay here again.

The food however, was superb and the breakfasts were wonderful! It is worth eating at the restaurant and if we ever come back to Prague we will certainly come back here for the pizza. Excellent prices at the restaurant, and the Pension is generous to give guests a 20% voucher for the restaurant (to use as much as you like until you leave). If you are on a tight budget and do not mind a crummy room, but very good food, then this is your place. However, for my fiancee and I, we will splurge next time and stay in a much nicer hotel.

Three of us stayed in this hotel for a girls weekend away and it was brilliant. The room wasn't massive but was big enough for the three of us, very clean and the beds were comfy. The location is amazing, right in the centre of prague and only a couple of minutes away from the main square and the clock tower so we were able to pop back to the room to freshen up easily. They also have an Italian restaurant where they gave us vouchers for free drinks and the food weas very good. On the downside there are a LOT of stairs! it's on the top floor of around 8 flights of stairs which could be a bit of a struggle with a heavy suitcase, keeps you fit though!

We weren't expecting this little bed and breakfast to be as good as this. We arrived around 945pm after having to deal with a rude taxi driving so we were tired and not sure what to expect! But upon check in the lady was lovely and offered to help carry our bags to our room help us (surely not her job!). The downside is the three locked doors and the 135 stairs you have to deal with before you get to your room. But as two young girls travelling we felt safe. The rooms are huge and clean but nothing special. However you are close to everything and should spend more time exploring Prague rather then in your room. The italian restaurant attached to the hotel is also a little gem and staff are extremely friendly.

We have just returned from 3 nights at Pension Corto and have already said that on our next visit to Prague we will stay there again. We chose it mainly for its location and as it turned out it was spot-on, 4 mins walk to the Old Town square in one direction and 4 mins the other way to some of the best traditional bars, pubs and restaurants. Charles Bridge is about 10 mins away and you can stroll across to Mala Strana, the Lesser Town. The whole area around the Corto is stunning, the hotel itself being in a colonnaded walkway with a daily market right outside the door. We had a double room (breakfast included) on the first floor overlooking the market. The room was basic but clean and tidy with tea and coffee making facilities which was a nice touch. The bathroom (towels changed daily) too, was clean and so quirky I've included a photo! Breakfast is taken in the Corto Pizzeria downstairs which has a nice atmosphere and a substantial buffet most days of cereal, breads, meats, cheese etc plus cooked options and tea or coffee and fruit juice. On arrival we were given a voucher for a welcome drink and another with 20% off in the Pizzeria. My only complaints would be that on one day the tea and coffee sachets in our room were not topped up, and on the monday morning when we checked out, we had to choose breakfast from a small menu because there were not enough guests to put out a full buffet which is fair enough. Would definitely stay again though, for value-for money accommodation in a traditional Old Town building in an unbeatable location. Loved it! :)

Room Tip: Read the other reviews! If you don't mind a climb I'm sure any of them are fine, we chose t...

I found this place through www.pragueexperience.com and then checked it out on tripadvisor. The local is awesome - perfectly in the Old Town, the breakfast was delicious and filling and everything went smoothly. I would stay here again because of the location, the shower had good pressure and the room had enough space. I slept well on the bed, too.
