Just returned from a four day break in the fabulous City of Prague. The hotel could not be in a better location. Just off Republican Square and a stone's throw away from the Palladium Shopping centre. Check in was easy with plenty of staff to assist. Whilst the rooms are not massive, they are clean, with plenty of wardrobe space and the tea/coffee tray was a nice touch. The beds are extremely comfortable but I thought that 2 single quilts on a double bed was rather strange although when I used to it I thought it was a good idea. We never heard any noise whatsoever and were never bothered by cleaners etc. There is a safe in the room which is easy to use and free of charge. The bathroom was a nice size, with a big mirror and the under-floor heating was lovely - especially after walking around the city all day. There was only one mirror which was in the bathroom which made it a little tricky when getting ready (I travelled with my 19 year old daughter and she hogged the mirror constantly!). Breakfast was excellent with everything you could think off. There was plenty of choice and the staff were friendly and constantly topping the food up and clearing tables etc. The staff are very willing and helpful and all speak good English. My only slight disappointment was that the bar appeared to close at 11pm so if you have been out for dinner and fancied a nightcap you were out of luck. However try the Music bar directly opposite the hotel where they make the best Mojitos!! There is also a mini bar in the room but ours wasn't stocked very well although I am sure if you request anything they would top it up. The mini bar prices were very reasonable too.
The best way to get to the Old Square is to turn left when you get out of the hotel, then cross over Republican Square and walk under the Powder Tower and you will come to the old town square with the Astronomical Clock. There are lots of bars and restaurants here. The Italian restaurant on the square does fab pizza and pasta and is not overly expensive we paid approx. £36 for 2 x 2 course meals and a bottle of wine. Some restaurants charge service charge and some don't so look out for this. In you like views, go to Hotel U Prince opposite the clock and follow the signs for the terrace. The views are stunning. We only had drinks but the food also looked lovely and was not overly priced considering the location.
I would definitely recommend this hotel you will not be disappointed.
