“A great hotel, far (though not too) from the madding crowds”
Reviewed 7 May 2012

This gem of a hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the usual tourist haunts of Prague. It is spotless, friendly and has a unique "design" style. The rooms are comfortable and colorful, and the staff are great. There is a tram stop very nearby and it is not too far from the castle. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Try for a room on the courtyard if you like to sleep with the windows open.

Stayed here for 2 nights with 5 others as part of a birthday trip around Europe. The hotel offers a car for 24 euros to collect people from the airport - as there were 6 of us,they instead arranged a minibus which only cost 39 euros. Check in was quick and efficient. The room was very clean and simply decorated - there was a large flat screen TV, lots of storage space in the wardrobe, and an in room safe. The bathroom was spacious, and included a bath with shower attachment. There was a small bar on the ground floor reception, and a breakfast room on the floor below (breakfast was delicious and included bacon, eggs, sausages, yoghurt, cereals, various breads, cold meats, cheeses, jams, and a few Czech specialities such as local cakes and some ready made open sandwiches).
The hotel was convenient for a tram stop just a couple of minutes down the hill (serving various lines - the 12 and 20 towards the castle district, and 9 which went over the river towards the old town). We were also only about 10 minutes walk from the lower terminus of the funicular railway - the one day city travel passes that you pick up from the newsagent kiosks include rides on this (and cost about 110 koruna / £4)
Had a great time exploring the old town - as expected, Wenceslas Square was set up for stag and hen parties and was full of bars, strip clubs and other tourist traps, so we avoided it in the evenings. Apart from that,it was a lovely city to visit, especially the Charles Bridge and the area just around each end of the bridge. We had two very good evening meals, at Artisan and Konirna, which I will write quick reviews on separately if I find a few moments.
When we checked out, the hotel has a luggage room right by reception, so we left bags there while we made the most of our last couple of hours in the city. We really enjoyed the visit to Prague, and the hotel and staff were a big part of that. We'd stay here again if we came to Prague again.

Room Tip: Most rooms seem to face the main road - it's not too loud, but the higher floor the better

Stayed for 3 nights over Easter weekend and hotel was perfect for us. Slightly out of town but an easy walk or you can make use for the excellent public transport. Really friendly staff. VERY comfy bed, spotlessly clean and great shower. Surprise complimentary breakfast (we had booked room only) was great to start the day.

Some good local restaurants nearby if you like traditional food and cheap beer!

Stayed three nights in Red and Blue. At first I thought this hotel was a bit far out, but soon found location was ideal. Only 20 minutes walk from main areas or if you would prefer - a full day transport pass costs about $4 and tram is 5 minutes away. Great thing about this hotel was the reception staff. Friendly and helpful and always met you with a smile on return from a long day of sightseeing. Room was OK, bed comfortable and enough room to move about. Couple of minor things - shower takes a little while to work out and the dooner was too short for me (I am only 6`2) - room was warm so no issue but presume only fix would be to ask for another dooner! Breakfast was good and hotel offers car to drop you off at train station at reasonable rate. Free internet and coffee making facilities a plus too. Would recommend this one.

Room Tip: Go for a room on one of the higher floors and away from the lifts

Stayed for 3 nights, room 104 on the ground floor was very comfortable. Modern decor and well equipped with air con, mini bar, free wi fi and tea/coffee making facilities. Pillow/duvet menu is also available.
Breakfast was excellent, self service with everything from Czech sandwiches to bacon and egg.
All the Hotel staff were charming and provided a professional and welcoming service.

The Hotel is located in Prague 5 which is a lovely quiet area, whithin walking distance of all the attractions, a brisk 10 min walk to Chrales Bridge. Plenty of shops (including Tesco) and restaurants nearby.
Many thanks to all at The Red and Blue Design Hotel, highly recommended!!

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for three nights and had a great stay it was very comfortable clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. They suggested a restaurant nearby called the Artisan it was excellent if a little expensive. The hotel is a little far from the Old Town which is a 45 minute walk but I managed it!

My wife and I just spent about a week at this hotel. The room was excellent with a large comfortable bed, working air conditioner and a very nice bathroom with plenty of hot water. The room also had a couch, desk, and small refrigerator. The best thing about this hotel is the service from the front desk staff. They helped us with car rentals, taxis, directions, and anything else we needed. The breakfast was very good with a mix of hot and cold options and plenty of juices, espresso, etc. Compared to the hotels we stayed at in Munich and other cities this was by far the best experience we had. It is also in a good location, only about ten minutes walk to the Charles bridge. We would highly recommend this hotel and we will stay here on our next trip to prague.
