“Beautiful to look at”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

The Rudolfinum is a remarkable and beautiful building. But it's not really so great as a music venue. The accoustics are pretty bad. The room is echo-y, which means that notes are muddy and music feels like it's hard to hear even though the venue isn't large.

“Great Venue for Serious Music”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

There are a lot of reviews here by visitors to Prague who are clearly not well informed about classical music. A lot of European venues double as home for leading orchestras and, especially out of season,e.g. Summer months, home to tourist orientated concerts which are a totally different concept altogether. If you want to hear the real thing don't buy tickets from touts and if you book at the hall make sure you know what and who you are going to hear. The Czech Philharmonic is resident at the Dvorak Hall (main hall) and if you are lucky enough to be in Prague when they are performing you should book their concert. Anything resembling "the best of" or Vivaldi;s Four Seasons etc. etc. is to be avoided if you are discerning about musical performance and want to hear an established full orchestra. The Czech Phil. is on the world's great orchestras and the acoustics in the Dvorak Hall are outstanding.
