“Prague's No 1 Restaurant”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

My girlfriend and I ate at this restaurant recently to celebrate her birthday and it really was an excellent choice! The hospitality was fantastic, ambience amazing, and the food and beverages were simply top class. We both had steaks and it was just fabulous... Add in great starters and desserts, plus two bottles of the finest Moravian wine.. what a fabulous night! Pod Vezi translates as 'Under the Tower' because of its incredibly close proximity to Charles Bridge. Put simply, this restaurant is just top class!

“Absolutely top notch - on all three nights!”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

We ate here after we arrived in Prague in the evening - we walked over the Charles Bridge from the Old Town and just happened to walk past this restaurant. We decided to give it a try, and in no way were we disappointed. In fact, we loved it SO much that we ate here on all three of our evenings in Prague. If we hadn't moved on to Berlin, I guess we'd be eating there tonight!
The staff are all extremely friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere warm and cosy, like an old Czech country inn in the middle of Prague. The food is traditional Czech cuisine - lots of goulash, meats and thick stews. On the first night I had a venison goulash with dumplings, on the second a knuckle of pork and on the third a mushroom risotto. All excellent and each one rounded off with the unmissable apple strudel. Personally I liked the mushroom risotto the best although the portion was a little too small. Before the courses arrive you are given a free bread basket with all different kinds of breads inside - excellent. Value very reasonable at around £8 for main courses and £3 for dessert in a top location like this. One downside is that there is not really much catering for children although since we didn't have any children in our group that didn't bother us.
A very heartily recommended restaurant if you are in Prague!

“Delicious food”
Reviewed 8 April 2014

The restaurant is right next to Charles Bridge, and is well decorated and comfortable inside. The food was excellent, but maybe a little pricey compared with other restaurants. However, bearing in mind the central location, excellent food and attentive service, the price is probably justified.

“Beautiful interior. Great food!”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

Had lunch upon arrival at this restaurant. Since we were staying at the hotel, we enjoyed a 15% discount on food which was great! Ordered the set lunch menu for myself. Disappointed that the salmon was gone but the beef curry with basmati rice was delicious and the French onion soup as starter was rich.We had breakfast here for the rest of our stay and the buffet was delicious with hot and cold selections. Overall, a great value.

“Traditional Czech cuisine and setting”
Reviewed 31 March 2014

The location and view at the west tower of the Charles Bridge makes this very folkloric without being heavy and dark. The traditional duck is served with a nouvelle twist.
