“Prefect for four ladies”
Reviewed 12 April 2013

We, four ladies, had a brilliant four nights at the Malostranska, 7th 8th April 2013. The accommodation was perfect, everything we wanted and more. Large spacious rooms, and comfortable beds. we couldn't fault anything. Location was also great for sightseeing and restaurants. We fully recommend this hotel.

The apartment house is in lesser town and about 200 meters to the Charles bridge. It is opposite the tram station. So good location to walk in the old town and new town. We had 3 in our party and had apartment 6 on the 4th floor. At 30 squares it is smaller than an average hotel room but it is an apartment. The rollout bed for our daughter was uncomfortable our bed was actually really comfortable . So if there is more than 2 in you party you may wish to have more than a delux apartment. Having said that I enquired with the staff why the photos differed on the website. She said they were the executive apartments. She did apolgise and offered us a larger apartment but could only do it for one night. We opted not to move as we were only there for 3 nights. So suggest if you are there any longer you may want to opt for a larger apartment. It had all the necessary implements to prepare a meal but there is not many shops to buy food at. There is a small market just down the street near the Charles bridge.

However the apartment was clean plenty of hot water and the 3 staff we encountered we're delightful friendly and helpful. I would stay there again the building is beautiful but I would go for a larger apartment.

Room Tip: Go for a larger apartment. The delux apartment room 6 on 4 the floor really small

We stayed here for a long weekend. We have 3 children (under 8 years old). It was PERFECT for a family. We had the Executive Suite and we had more than enough room. The view was incredible and we were in a perfect location to walk EVERYWHERE. We loved the beds (and the linens) so maybe they had changed them since the last review. It is hard to find when driving, but we parked across the street, checked in and then the reception attendant actually went with us to park the car in the underground lot (so we wouldn't get lost). We opted to eat breakfast on our own and not through the apartments. We ate at Bohemia Bagel every day. All 5 of us ate for under $25/USD! Highly recommend that as well. You won't be sorry. We will be back. A perfect place for families who want to walk all around the beautiful city!

The location is excellent - but DON'T be lured here by that alone - this was one of the worst hotels I stayed in during my 9 weeks in Europe. There is no air-con so you pretty much have to leave the window open for air circulation. It is an old, stuffy building so even if it isn't hot outside, you'll want the window open. Because the windows have to be open at least a bit, the noise from outside is overwhelming and doesn't stop until the wee hours of the morning - trams, traffic, drunks, the restaurant downstairs and construction across the street during the day. The pillow for the hard foam bed was chunks of foam in big bag. I was seriously unimpressed. The bottom line: if you want to get some decent sleep - stay somewhere else!! If you just need an expensive storage locker for your luggage, you are in luck... I have stayed at lots of hotels in Europe on this trip and this is the first one I have really ranted about. Trust me - it is terrible...

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else!

Dear Guest,

We appreciate your fedback indeed!
Whether negative or positive it is, it is allways a push for us to be better!
Let us reply on your review.

The fact that the surrounding is very busy and noisy says for itself, that we are located in the heart of Prague's center, and very close the main attraction of the city - Charles Bridge. It is also stated on the website of the residence, that the location is truly busy with lots of pubs around.
The air-conditioning is fixed, and even an extra fan is provided upon request.
The pillows are changed to the best quality ones, with feather inside.
And many other...

As with other reviews, finding the apartment isn't easy, especially arriving in a car!

The area in which the apartment is located is chaotic with cars, trams and pedestrians, there is no short term parking by the apartment to get out of the car to unload luggages. The corner restaurant wasn't helpful either when I asked for the apartment's entrance, surely they get lots of these questions and probably knew the answer yet the waiter said no - no business from me with that sort of attitude!

Didn't notice the Reception intercom by the door, I was let inside the apartment building by another guest after finally locating the entrance, which is just left of the restaurant. The reception is a little office by the lift, the staff was helpful though not warm or friendly (typical Czech style?), she pointed out the secured undercover parking garage which I used, costing EUR25 per day, either that or the unsecured public open air parking opposite the apartment at EUR18 per day.

The apartment is proportionate in size with a complete kitchenette, an excellent shower/toilet with underfloor heating and bright and spacious sleeping room. The decor and wall painting is a bit tacky but fits the mood of its surrounding, having said that, the 3D painting on the ceiling was excellent. The bed is low and comfortable but the bed linen is not - the sheet is made of material similar to t-shirts and was full of pill and holes, the pillow was too soft and 'melt' in the huge pillow case when slept on.

Although on the 4th floor there isn't much of a view, the double windows kept street noise away and sleep was peaceful, except for the annoying pillow and extremely uncomfortable sheet - the bed linen smelt funny, the laundry staff should considered using an extra spoon full of washing powder, if any at all!

The shower/toilet and kitchenette area were clean but the bedroom's wooden floor need a good mop, stepped on something sticky and I had to clean the floor myself using the bath mat. I should add that the material used for shower/toilet and kitchen were of good quality, obviously the operator cares about quality but the the bed linen was a huge let down.

Location is top notch with less than 5 minutes walk to the Charles Bridge, tram number 22 outside the apartment goes up to the Prague Castle and it's a 30 minutes walk to the Old Town Square.

Dear Guest,

We do appreciate your contribution and detailed review!
As per your comments about the parking right opposite the entrance to the Residence, in fact, it IS possible to park according to the law for loading or unloading the luggage or any other stuff either from the cars or even bigger trucks. However, there is a bus stop right in front, as well as taxi station, that is why it could be pretty chaotic during the day.
We are also offering own parking anywhere in Prague 1 zone for the reduced rate of 15 EUR, not 18 EUR mentioned. The outside parking is absolutely secured, since the central area of Prague is very much controlled by the Police 24hrs a day.
As per your next comment, our bed linens had been changed to very quality ones, as well as pillows long time ago. Since our Residence provides 'Feel like home experince' - our laundry is using high qiality and BEO detergents which are even suitable for allergics.

We value your comments very much and wishing you comfortable travelling!

Best from Prague,

Malostranska Residence

My BF and I stayed here for our first night in Prague. It’s 10-15 minutes walk from Malostranska metro station. It was also quite difficult to find - it’s on the street opposite the Starbucks and next to Café Victoria.

The front door of the residence is non-descript so don’t look for a big sign. There’s an intercom on the wall about 6ft off the ground. The entrance door was locked so we buzzed the intercom to gain entry. The intercom was awful! We were greeted with a bit of quiet, incoherent mutterings. Being 5’10” I couldn’t hear what these mutterings were, but my BF (who was taller) managed to hear something along the lines of “what’s the password…?” and “someone will come to help you, wait until 8 o’clock”.

We explained we had no password and there was no way we were waiting 4 hours. We rang and rang and rang and were convinced that we were listening to a recorded message, and that we would have to look for another hotel to stay in that night.

Eventually, after about 10 minutes of frustration and worrying that we were going to be homeless, the receptionist FINALLY opened the door to let us in.

After this unpleasant experience, we were shown to our room. The room was quite charming, good sized and most importantly clean. The bed was low down to the ground but comfortable. There was a kitchenette, nicely decked out bathroom with good shower pressure. The water in the morning got progressively colder, which was probably because everyone else was using it at the same time. The only problem was that the pillows were rubbish and way too low and soft. They were the “fold-in-half” ones. Even folded in half they were too low!

Overall, good location and staff were friendly. It’s within 5 minutes walk for the Charles Bridge and 20 minute walk for the Castle in the opposite direction. There’s a Starbucks and McDonalds nearby, loads of cafes and bars, a small supermarket, lots of souvenir places, but I don’t recommend Café Victoria because the waiters there seem more obnoxious than usual even for Prague standards.

Location, location, location!
This apartment hotel is perfectly located left of the river only 100 meters from the Carlsbridge, just opposite a McDonalds and next to public transport, within walking distance from everything.

We had a presidentual suite with lots of room everywhere and more than 1 bathroom. The interieur was very tasteful and the bathrooms very big.

It says view to the carlsbridge and that is true, even though you have to tilt your head a little to see it and the balcony was very small (3 people fit there), but else the apartment was really nice and the location perfect!
