There are many beautiful churches in Prague and this one will not disappoint. It is often overlooked with so much commotion on the Charles Bridge, but do take the time to step in and see this beautiful work of art. I think the churches in Prague are one of the most beautiful sights.

“Church St. Francis of Assisi in Prague”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

Baroque church St. Francis (sv. František z Assisi) in Knight of the Cross square (Křížovnické náměstí) was built 1679-1685, architects Gaudenzio Casanova and Domenico Canavallo, construction plans - Baptist Mathey. The Fresco Poslední soud (the last Judgement) painting by Václav Vavřinec Reiner - interier is fantastic. Famous concert.

“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

St. Francis Church is almost the first thing you see on the left upon stepping out of the Charles bridge from west to eastern side (that is, walking down from castle side to get out of the bridge on old-town square side). We saw it by accident on our last evening in Prague. Since the organ concert was about to begin, we impulsively decide to buy the tickets right in front of the church.

Thereon, it was a fabulous experience. The pamphlet, informing us this being the 2nd oldest Prague baroque organ (see the uploaded pic), the Ave Maria stuff and then such an exquisite atmosphere inside! Soon as the concert starts, one marvels at the fantastic acoustics of this historic building.

Despite this being our first, and we being fully novice about concerts, we were enthralled by the performance of professionals out there. Certainly a cherishable experience.

“Nearly missed this!”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

We walked pass the Kostel sv Frantiska z Assisi while strolling accross Charles Bridge on a number of occasions. With the bridge statues, traders, beggars there was so much to take in that this church didn't draw our attention until my wife noticed a concert being promoted from the doorway. We chose to look at the "venue" and it's seating arrangements before booking. We were escorted inside. Wow! We booked just to take in the magnificently decorated interior. That evening, in this grand setting, we were entertained by a violinist, soprano and pipe organist. An intimate setting with less than 80 seats available and accoustics that gave justice to those performing. A very memorable experience. This remains a highlight of our visit to Prague and we would recommend a visit to the church to others. To think we nearly missed this one!

“Great cultural experience”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

Just before the Charles bridge (to the right, coming form Old Town), there is a beautiful small church, that of St Francis. Although it is not obvious from the exterior, the church is outstanding in the inside, beautifully decorated in the baroque style. We attended a concert, with one of the oldest church organ's, flute and voice at classical masterpieces. The feeling was great and really enjoyed. The staff at the entrance were very polite and helpful.
