From the first minute when we came across the grumpiest receptionist ever ( no good morning , good day or a smile) it was a sub-standard stay. A room that had window cleaners working through the day, a leaky bathroom and inconsistent housekeeping, the only pluses were the size of the room, the hotel's proximity to the metro and a neat bathroom. The breakfast personified the inconsistent and indifferent attitude that we experienced during our stay.

Deutsche Bahn booked this hotel for us (two couples) and rated it as 4-stars. When we arrived there, the reception was a little cold but okay. And the rooms allocated were on 5th floor where the lift did not go. So we had to carry our heavy suitcases up one flight of stairs. And the rooms (501 and 502) were like a converted attic. No fan. No Air conditioner. No refrigerator. No tea-bags, although the towels and linen was clean. Breakfast was, however, good. We would not rate this above 2 stars. Location is a little far from the Metro Station, and not walkable to any famous landmark. You have to take a Metro to Old Town, Wenceslaw Square and Prague Castle/Charles Bridge. No guide map of Prague was available at the Hotel. I would not recommend this to any weary traveller unless his arm was twisted.

We stayed here on May 2013. Hotel have a good location - in 10 minutes you can reach the city center by metro or tram.
Staff is very friendly.
Our room was quiet, clean and big (we had a triple room). Towels changed every day. Also I liked breakfasts.
I can reccomend this hotel to travelers who are looking for a quite place near the city center.
And finally WiFi in the room it's great))

Hi everybody, my name is Yagub,
I was in Praga last week, Praga is the most beautiful city of Europe. We have been in this hotel Taurus, it was really beautiful place in old style and it s closer to city center , with clean rooms, with very kindly reseption stuff , greatest thanks to Lenka ( reception stuff) She was very kindly, and very positive girl, She helped us in every situation, and explained everything correctly, easy. And Thomas (also reception stuff) was very kindly too.

Value you deserve ,
Great regards,

Yagub Najafli - Lala Najafova.

Nice and very kind staff, appreciate theyr support in navigating around.
Breakfast Ok, hot and cold.
I would give for it 3 stars, as building does not seem to be in good condition, maybe 4 stars one day if renovated.
Cost around 50 euros per night, interesting to see 30 something euros in other reviews.

Some TV channels did not show well, maybe due to rains.
Good value for money anyway, as long as they remove one star, would be more adequate expectation upon arrival.

Im not usually one to write reviews however, i feel that the outstanding kindness and assistance the staff at Taurus offered deserved to be applauded. Im not sure what the other rooms look like and i wont take away from other peoples experiences, however, i could not fault the hotel, the room or the staff. My room with a view (i think there is only 1) was very tidy and presentable with a tv and heaters, clean shower and provisions for tea and coffee, the breakfast offered plenty of variety, free wifi, the staff: Jan and a few others (i never got there names) always helped me no matter how large or small my questions/requests were. Prague is currently being pounded with rain and low lying areas flooded, threatening my departure for Berlin, but, Jan put my mind at ease by making enquiries, he offered me an umbrella as mine had broken. The only issue i had was getting my luggage down as the lift was temporaily unavailable. I am sure if i had asked, they would have assisted, but...i managed :). I also thought the gentleman who assisted me with my check-in handled the grumpy man, with patience and diplomacy :)
I know i will return to Prague again, hopefully with sunnier weather, and i will definitely return to hotel Taurus. Thankyou to the staff for your hospitality and my room :) **thumbs up from Australia**

It's a good "2-star" hotel pretty close to the center of Prague. I know: they say "4-stars", but the one that's right is me!
It's 10-15 min walking from Wenceslas Square and very close to the Metro green line- "A", the right one for Malastrana, the castle, the city center and the bus connection to the airport.
Prices are really competitive; breakfast is good and included.
And these were the good news.
The bad ones are the following, included in my recommendations:
1) If you are traveling by car, well, YOUR CAR COMES FIRST! The Taurus hotel has a very limited parking capacity. First reserve your parking site (YOU MUST DO ) and only after that book your room. A family that checked-in before me had serious problems and finally they left their car on the road. Not recommended.
2) AVOID THE FIFTH FLOOR. Did I say "2-stars" before? Well, I would cut another one for the fifth floor. This floor was “fast & furious(ly)” adapted to host guests given probably the increasing demand. The result is really poor, but this should not prevent the staff from regularly cleaning the rooms. Avoid in particular room 510 and 501 (it’s not dyslexia…)
3) CALL TO RESERVE, or in case you do it by internet, CALL TO CONFIRM. In one word: CALL!!! I did my reservation on line by Expedia and a clear message stated “No need to call us for confirmation. Your room is already confirmed”. It was true: a room was booked and confirmed…. indicatively. I booked one room with matrimonial bed and I had 2 separated beds; difficult to change once on site due to the high number of guests.

Room Tip: Avoid the fifth floor.
